End times?

My post 194 rewritten: (my bad for sure on the initial effort, and thanks Lee for the heads up!)

The bible speaks of a thirst being quenched. A thirst being satisfied.

An end result is in view. This end result is spoken of here:
1Cr 13:9   For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Cr 13:10   But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Cr 13:11   When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Cr 13:12   For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

The gospel that the kingdom of God was at hand or meaning that the kingdom of heaven was at hand functioned like a mirror.
The end result of that mirror was to know as being known. A fulfilled revelation of being known through a love without condition.

In this time period of a "transitional awareness" a "transitional knowledge" was in effect.

The transition was from types and figures to the fullness of the substance. The substance fullness was to know love without condition which superseded types and figures and completed the transitional knowledge that they then possessed.

The problem today is that we are seeing ourselves in the transition in a continued Adamic state. So then transitional doctrines or teachings are seen to be of current status. We have elongated the partial in our minds way beyond its actual historical reality.
That's why we can't quite ever get satisfied with this thirst.

Then because of our presumptions have blamed it on our alleged continued perceived adamic struggles.

Would be happy to reexplain or clarify further these thought. I know that I don't acctually write what I'm thinking so my bad :)

Barry would you mind giving your input on what "God is no respector of persons" means to you?  Do you see  all of us (in this age of fulfillment) as "persons"?

I think many here will say,as long as we are a "person", then God's fire/judgment (which is good) will continue to "burn away" the "self identity/egoic/carnal mind"; inwardly; moving from "law mindset" to "God/love".

thanks

Zeek

also, do you see a need for mankind to "wake up/grow in experential awareness" to God's love "between the ears"?  And if so, do you see this process as independent of the process "between the ears" that the first fruits went through?  If so, what do you see as the process of "waking up"?

What did Adam lack before he eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?
A hint, not a resurrected body of the sorts that so many want to get before they agree to see fulfillment.

Hbr 9:15   And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

:cloud9: Not a resurrected body? Did you read that closely, Barry?

"they which are called according to His purpose, receive the promise of ETERNAL INHERITANCE."

:cloud9: Do you understand what our inheritance IS? Portion and inheritance mean the same thing in Hebrew. The priest's portion was God Himself. This fact was born WITNESS, by the fact that the Holy Ghost fell on them as a PORTION of their inheritance on the day of Pentecost, as the HG and God are ONE. Note the principle that God came DOWN to give it, we didn't go "up", ie. die to receive it. So they/we receive a portion of GOD HIMSELF, while we are waiting for the FULLNESS OF OUR REDEMPTION.

Redemption relates also to land purchases, and the Lord is purchasing our "land" because He intends (and is doing it), to build Himself a temple there, not build with hands, a DWELLING PLACE. The baptism or anointing of His Spirit, is important because anointing means among other things, to make holy, sanctify, set apart for service. We were made to inherit,an HEIR, as a son of promise, grafted in by His Spirit. And the thing about an inheritance is, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DIE TO RECEIVE IT.

Let's look at WHERE it is, then we'll look at WHAT it is......

Ephesians 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,   6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved .  7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;   8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;   9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:   10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:   11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance , being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

1Peter 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Now for what it is.....

Ephesians 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:   18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened ; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,   19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe , according to the working of his mighty power,   20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Heb. 1:4  Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

1Peter 1:13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober , and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Romans 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God , and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Galatians 4:7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 3:18  For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.[/b]

And what does the adoption entail?

Romans 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

And how it comes.....

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn , and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear , then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

And what are the clouds He appears in........

Jude 1:12 KJV
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead , plucked up by the roots

There are those without water (of the Spirit) who are swept about by every wind of doctrine, instead of being moved only by His Spirit. They are twice dead, because they missed both the first appearing of Him in their heavens, and the second appearing unto the salvation or redemption of their bodies, because they were not looking for Him. So they will be plucked up by the roots (physical death).

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro , and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness , whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But what of those that look for Him?

1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

What is this crown of glory? It's many things, but the for sake of this topic it's.....

Proverbs 12:4 KJV
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

The soul is the garment of the Spirit. One that has been cleansed of spot and wrinkle, is as a VIRTUOUS WOMAN, GLORIFIED FLESH, that becomes a crown of glory to her husband (Spirit). I could go on but I will stop here. Blessings....

:cloud9: Now I want to add on to this thought.........

Ephesians 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:   18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened ; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritancein the saints,   19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe , according to the working of his mighty power,   20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

And to show how He started this work in us.....

The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord; tongues/flames of fire came upon them and lit their candle. And out of their innermost being (bellies/spirit) began to flow rivers of living water. It was said in Acts 2 that He shed forth this (from being seated in heaven with the Father) which you see and hear.

Being baptized into water is being baptized into the likeness of his death/descending. Being baptized in the Spirit is being baptized/raised into the likeness of his glorified life, and is why Paul said our conversation is FROM HEAVEN, and why he said he spoke with the tongues of angels.

You can't speak from a place you've never been before, but through that baptism we are seated with Him in heavenly places (next to Father), ie. the river of life that proceeds from the THRONE. So that He that ascended is also He that descended.

Now just where IS His throne if the same rivers of living water that proceed from it, are coming out of our bellies? And since the VEIL was rent to reveal that throne in the type and shadow of the temple, and since the glory is to be REVEALED IN US, and since the revelation of Jesus Christ happens IN THE TEMPLE, and since know ye not ye are the TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD, I just wonder why according to the fables of men, God would want to keep on destroying HIS TEMPLES, seeing how He plans to be REVEALED from there? Hmmm.....Blessings...

Hey Zeek,

All try and do my best. Let me know if I need to clarify. Do let me know if you have any questions or disagreements as well.
God is not a respecter of persons in that His love is equal to all.
The "loved ones" within the transition of the ages that being the "sons of God" by characteristic, were the one who "saw" and put into practice the results of knowing that love.
It doesn't mean that they were to only loved ones.

Also in relation to that then, the Just and unjust at this time are included in this aspect of "not being a respecter of persons". Obviously two different groups.
As there was obviously a calling for a certain group to be manifesters of God's love in an outworking of historical import by loving one's enemies. Clearly then there are "groups" in question.
The "loved ones" who saw the love and the "enemies" who did not, thus making themselves enemies in their mind and outworking that fact historically as their conscience is judged against the law in their minds.
Notice that the so called enemies receive the same rain whether they acknowledge it or not.

We are in a whole new world. History can now and does now build upon itself because everything has been made new. Previously this could not happen and had no God given blessing upon such potential (see Babel).

Things are coming along actually. Here we are way ahead of the dark ages! Talking about loving each other and the love of God which is without condition. Discussion equality for all people under God in the precept of Him not being a respecter of persons.

At no point in past history do we see the things that have been happening over the last few hundred years. Never were their global movements to end slavery and such. Never! It was not in their thinking.

To get to your point, the awareness indicative of love consciousness if growing. The remaining ignorance of it does not nullify the reality of it.
Our personal growth, and maturing process is not that which touches on the subject of then applied transitional principles which were framed in eschatology and soteriology. It is separate and apart from that. We are not fulfilling, we are moving onward because of fulfillment. Most are not yet catching on to what is actually happening. That does not change the facts.

The problem is that people have theologically come to despise the human condition and have interpreted "in the flesh" as meaning human. But it never did. It meant being in the human condition that the human condition was then in.
And so circular reasoning is employed. If I'm human the end did not come! That is the incorrect conclusion in spite of all the scriptural evidence to the contrary.

The benefits to coming to the feet of a God that loves you without condition of any sort is personal. But it can't remain personal. For how we feel about ourselves is how we treat others. And the judgment that we place on another is the judgment that we must accept ourselves. And the hurt that we do to other is the hurt we thus feel we ourselves deserve on some level. This is why the law and sin consciousness cannot be a new beginning.
The common Christian is blessed in know that God loves them.
When they believe in hell then they are never at ease because they are afraid of doing something to disserve the same fate.
Better then Universalism or UR.
But still as long as we think of ourselves as "in the flesh" that the bible refers to then the belief system has its own consequences. It is inevitable. You (IE one) cannot fully trick the mind.
Only a firm stance on love with no condition at all can free the mind from the religious stance involving a preoccupation of feeling the need to attain to a predestinated "arrival" that  involves twists and turns in diverse doctrines.
For the buddhist it may be the eradication of the ego. For the common Christian it may be living as a human in a human body or getting all the sin out of one's life (with God's help of course)

Instead however just simple know that you are loved fully and totally and the one in the mirror is that loved one. That loved one is now the true one.
Not that all insecurity forever vanishes. But that the biblically defined "perfect" is nevertheless recognized and embraced.
With that embracing we move forward but not as ones perpetually stuck within an eschatological and stereological body.

Just some thoughts.

Blessings Barry

Yes, but one cannot get to filled. Not in any satisfied state.
Because one see themselfs as still Adamic in ones very nature.

You see the Gospel is a mirror. Until the perfect comes you cannot know as you are known.

This is all dependant on human thinking to come to a satisfied state, as if one must conform his thinking, and that such a mind change alone will in itself fill someone in the manner Christ was speaking about?

When Jesus said that "BLESSED are those who HUNGER AND THIRST for righteousness, for they will be FILLED," he wasn't talking about human mental compartmentalization. He was talking about the Holy Spirit and fulfilling a promise of a supernatural conforming to righteousness according to a promise long ago made.

QuoteThe sin that reigns in death is not physical death. This is apparently where you ere greatly.

You tell me that I err greatly in something I didn't say?

QuoteSeth, where in the bible do you get a  "physical immortality or deathless embodiment". Is that like the flesh and blood that does inherit the kingdom? Is that like a spiritual flesh?
I really do want to understand your view.

The whole thing about immortality is just not something I want to get into. Hope you understand.

Hey Doug,
Do you think that the Judaizers are the ones that Paul is refering to as the ones teaching circumcision in Philippians chapter 3 and throughout Galatians?

Barry

according to Bruce Chilton's Rabbi Paul book yes definitely. Chilton makes an amazing claim that Paul had more enmity to the Judaizers within Christianity than to the unbelieving Jews outside of Christianity. He claims that in this verse Paul speaks against Christian Judaizers rather than generally unbelieving Jews. I dont think that could be correct, though:

Quote1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 (New International Version)
14For you, brothers, became imitators of God's churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, 15who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men 16in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.

Great post!
Yes, all the chruches were coming under attack by the Judaizers and their converts which became Judaizers.

This is the context of every great house and the vessels their in.
2Ti 2:20   But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2Ti 2:21   If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good work.

This is how "Judgement began at the house of God" and signaled clearly that "the end of all things was at hand" as per Peter's points.

There is no historical proof of any problems with the Gnostic in the time of the writings of the New Testament. It is all subjective theory and no context to back it up. No history to back it up either. Just hearsay and subjective interpretation.

I didn't explain my point well. let me try again:

of course Paul is speaking about Christian Judaizers in verse 14. Chilton's rather shocking claim though is that in verse 15 Paul also is speaking about the Jewish believers in Jesus rather than the Jews who opposed the Gospel message.

I don't think that makes any sense since he writes:

Quotethe Jews, 15who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out.

Chilton works at Bard College with Jacob Neusner the Jewish apologist and goes out of his way to show that rabbinical Judaism is perfectly compatible with Christianity.

the question is what does Paul intend here:

QuoteThey displease God and are hostile to all men 16in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.

it seems clear to me this is a reference to unbelieving Jews and a prophecy of the coming destruction of Jerusalem. I don't think Chilton et al are correct in saying that Paul here only criticizes the Jewish believers.

However imo it is in the house of God where judgement began. IE with the Judaizers and so then fully toward the none believing Jews in general at the destruction of Jerusalem.

Yes, the apostle Peter says judgment begins at the house of God. Which "house" does he mean? The Jewish temple? No, he means the church, because he says: "if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

Those who "obey not the gospel" were unbelievers, both Jew and Gentile; "us" means the church.

1 Peter 4:17
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

We can see that God's "household" is the church, because the saints are the "children of God," [Luke 20:36; John 11:52] and "sons of God." [Rom. 8:14, 19; 1 John 3:1, 2]

I would say when the end of the world comes, then it is time to learn that God has just awakened your/His Spirit in YOU, and you are now a new Creation in God's Son, and All things have passed away and All things are now new , Walk in Newness of Life and show those that ain't there yet the peace of God and His Love.   That IS the end of the world (Earth Made Man) and there is no death in this form of Life even here on earth.

Galatians 4 (Amplified Bible)

28 But we, brethren, are children [not by physical descent, as was Ishmael, but] like Isaac, born in virtue of promise.

29 Yet [just] as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh despised and persecuted him [who was born remarkably] according to [the promise and the working of] the [Holy] Spirit, so it is now also.

30 But what does the Scripture say? Cast out and send away the slave woman and her son, for never shall the son of the slave woman be heir and share the inheritance with the son of the free woman.

31 So, brethren, we [who are born again] are not children of a slave woman [the natural], but of the free [the supernatural].

These scriptures even work if you just read the bold,  :HeartThrob:

Just a little question on the last few posts if you don't mind.
I thought that the "end" would encompass people that Paul wrote to that would be alive and waiting?
1 Cor. 15:51

1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14   For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

The end here is not the end of life.
The end here is not the end of our life unless some of those folks are still alive.
Just asking.

Blessings Barry

Did Paul claim to know when the end of the age would come? No. Paul even said prophecies would fail. They certainly did, as while there were prophets in the early church, they largely ceased for most of the church's history, along with other gifts, such as miracles of healing.

1 Cor. 13:8
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

So this doesn't seem as though Paul was making any firm predictions as to when the end would occur. He said prophecy gives only a glimpse, or a partial view of what will occur.

1 Cor. 13:9-12
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

By exhorting Christians to prepare, and be ready, and look for Christ's coming, Paul and the apostles were setting an example for the church in all future centuries, and obeying what Jesus said to do:

Mark 13:32-37
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Berry, I believe that the end of the world did come for those people standing there and people today IF you "see" it this way: :HeartThrob:

the end comes when one comes to the understanding that they are a new creation IN Christ and the old (separation from God, man dealing with God through another Priest on earth)  is passed away, and understands that ALL NOW deals with God Through Revelation (Mat.16:17) one on one. Only one middle Man, God's Anointed. All are IN Christ NOW, just wake up and see and you are Alive, (some slang-born-again, regenerated, etc.)  But remember this, every person is awaken at God's time table, not at an alter call, confession, etc.

Interestingly enough, he does seem to be implying it would happen during a dark time--when prophecies fail, tongues cease, and knowledge vanishes away.

This is further supported by this verse you quoted--

Quote35 Watch ye therefore: for
ye know not

when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all,
Watch

.

Midnight and Dawn are the two most difficult watches, as any sailor knows, because they occur when people are usually asleep.  Again, it seems to be implying that he will come during the darkest parts of the night, and he exhorts us not to sleep, as others are, but to watch.

Matthew 13:25
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

John 7:33
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Yes, there are many indications that the day of the Lord is a time of darkness. Joel called it "A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness;" Isaiah said "the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light." Zechariah said:

Zech. 14:6-7
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

Peter said:

2 Peter 1:19
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

At the end of the world the tares are gathered up and burned.

Mat. 13:40-41
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
