Spill reveals Obama's lack of executive experience
By: Byron York
Chief Political Correspondent
June 8, 2010

In mid-February 2008, fresh from winning a bunch of Super Tuesday primaries, Barack Obama granted an interview to "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Croft. "When you sit down and you look at [your] resume," Croft said to Obama, "there's no executive experience, and in fact, correct if I'm wrong, the only thing that you've actually run was the Harvard Law Review."

"Well, I've run my Senate office, and I've run this campaign," Obama said.

Seven months later, after receiving the Democratic presidential nomination, Obama talked with CNN's Anderson Cooper. At the time, the news was dominated by Hurricane Gustav, which was headed toward New Orleans and threatening to become a Katrina-like disaster. "Some of your Republican critics have said you don't have the experience to handle a situation like this," Cooper said to Obama. "They in fact have said that Governor Palin has more executive experience. ..."

"Governor Palin's town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees," Obama answered. "We have got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So, I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute, I think, has been made clear over the last couple of years."

Obama ignored Palin's experience as governor of Alaska, which was considerably bigger than the Obama campaign. But his point was clear: If you're worried about my lack of my executive experience, look at my campaign. Running a first-rate campaign, Obama and his supporters argued, showed that Obama could run the federal government, even at its most testing moments. He could set goals, demand accountability, and, perhaps most importantly, bend the sprawling federal bureaucracy to his will.

Fast forward to 2010. The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico is gushing out of control. The Obama administration is at first slow to see the seriousness of the accident. Then, as the crisis becomes clear, the federal bureaucracy becomes entangled in itself trying to deal with the problem. "At least a dozen federal agencies have taken part in the spill response," the New York Times reports, "making decision-making slow, conflicted and confused, as they sought to apply numerous federal statutes."

For example, it took the Department of Homeland Security more than a week to classify the spill as an event calling for the highest level of federal action. And when state officials in Louisiana tried over and over to win federal permission to build sand barriers to protect fragile coastal wetlands from the oil, they got nowhere. "For three weeks, as the giant slick crept closer to shore," the Times reports, "officials from the White House, Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Environmental Protection Agency debated the best approach."

The bureaucracy wasn't bending to anyone's will. The direction from the top was not clear. And accountability? So far, the only head that has rolled during the Gulf crisis has been that of Minerals Management Service chief Elizabeth Birnbaum. But during a May 27 news conference, Obama admitted he didn't even know whether she had resigned or been fired. "I found out about it this morning, so I don't yet know the circumstances," the president said. "And [Interior Secretary] Ken Salazar's been in testimony on the Hill." Obama's answer revealed that he hadn't fired Birnbaum, and he couldn't reach a member of his Cabinet who was a few blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Given all that, perhaps candidates in future presidential races will think twice before arguing that running their campaign counts as executive experience.

A few days before Obama won the White House, Bill Clinton joined him for a late-night rally in Kissimmee, Fla. Clinton, who became president after 12 years as a governor, told the crowd not to worry about Obama's lack of executive background. Given the brilliance of Obama's campaign, Clinton said -- and here the former president uncharacteristically mangled his words a bit -- a President Obama would be "the chief executor of good intentions as president."

Chief executor of good intentions? Perhaps that's what Obama is now. But with oil gushing into the Gulf, that's just not good enough.

Yikes.  Isn't that what Iran did last year--shut down the internet?  Isn't Iran a dictatorship?  Why would Joe Lieberman and Jay Rockefeller aspire to  the policies of a dictatorship in Iran?  Do they admire Iran that much?  What other dictatorships do they admire?  Mao? Stalin?

And what does Jay Rockefeller have in common with one of the poorest States in the Union?

As a great-grandson of oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller, he is the only current politician of the prominent six-generation Rockefeller family and the only Democrat in what has been a traditionally progressive Republican dynasty.[1]

Maybe we should call our Senators and point this out to them--

Lieberman's approval rating in a poll taken January 4–5, 2010, was 25% approve versus 67% who disapprove, making him one of the least popular Senators currently in office.[8]

QuoteHe states the flow of oil is 120,000 barrels a day and also describes an underwater lake of oil 1100 meters below the surface, covering 40% of the Gulf of Mexico.
Meaning the whole eco-syste will collaps. So not only life on the bottom dies. Cleaning efforts right now are "minimal" and are only on the beaches and surface. Maybe a little below the surface but certainly not at 1100 meters.

QuoteRelief wells are useless he says, and will only triple the flow of oil and gas, and ultimately fail.
A weird statement.
The oil field will indeed increase output. But the new wells do not spill the oil, but transport it to tankers.
Pressure on the broken well lessens and because of that can hopefully be closed.

QuoteMeaning the whole eco-syste will collaps.

I'm having trouble understanding this.  Does he mean the plumes are being caused by other leaks through the rockbed of the ocean floor?  And, does that mean they are making their way slowly to the surface?

We know the dispersant is causing bodies of oil to sink.  But are the plumes something different?

We were discussing earlier if Obama was holding the Gulf hostage to get his energy bill passed.  Why won't he suspend the Jones act and call in the supertankers?  His speech showed that the only thing on his mind is his energy legislation, not cleaning up the Gulf.  The Gulf is still left slowly swinging in the wind, begging for help.

The General who flightlifted the city of New Orleans to safety after Katrina was on CNN saying that the army needs to be called to the Gulf to handle the command and control aspect--zooming around in small boats locating the oil and calling in the skimmers.

But Glenn Beck had something interesting to say tonight.  He said, as we know, that Obama has suspended Gulf drilling for at least 6 months, and those rigs were going to be taken to other locations, which he suggested would be in Brazil where they would be put to work deep water drilling for Petrobus, which I think he said Soros owns a big share in.  So there seems to be more to this than meets the eye.

At 2.4 million gallons leaking a day, and possibly much more, these skimmers are not up to the job alone.  Therefore,--

Here's an oil tracker map.  Can't you just see that oil being sucked up by giant supertankers?

Those four blobs miles from the spill---are those the plumes?

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/05/01/us/20100501-oil-spill-tracker.html

The "estimated extent" of the oil slick is an estimate by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of where oil is mostly likely to go based on wind and ocean current forecasts, as well as analysis of aerial photography and satellite imagery. The "surveyed extent" show areas where oil was visible on the surface of the water during aerial surveys of the Gulf. The surveyed extents are not available every day and may be incomplete on some days because poor weather conditions prevented observation in some areas.

The extents may vary widely from day to day because of changes in wind patterns and ocean currents

I posted a link to a huge page (can't find it anymore) Some expert claimed it's a myth oil floats. It does in pure form, but due to all kinds of interaction with the enviorment it can also sink.
QuoteWe know the dispersant is causing bodies of oil to sink.  But are the plumes something different?
The dispersant was applied at wellhead level. If it really works the oil won't float to the surface. There are also clouds 10-100 meters below the surface.

I just noticed it isn't a static map  :BangHead:
Firstly I think it shows how unreliable the measurements are. The spill seems to shrink in some parts of the slideshow.
Then  bit later the size seems to be stable. But if I look closer it looks like bit chunks are torn by the Gulf Stream and transported into the ocean.

So Molly, I think your 4 blobs will be gone soon. I wouldn't be suprised they pass Key West in the next few days.

Summary from the article below:
It was never attempted to close the well. All attempts were to fully open it.
The reason is that the pipe is broken below the seafloor and oil is eroding the seafloor.
This eroding will get worse as time passes an will get uncontroleble.
The 450 ton BOP (blow out preventor) is slowly tipping over. The soft seafloor can't support the weight. Neither can the broken pipe.
If it tips over the drill hole will be wide open. Unstoppeble flow of 150.000 barrels/day = 6,300,000 gallons/day (minimum)
The field is huge because it was supposed to be a big step for the USA of independance of Middle East oil.
Currently BP is drilling relief wells to take of the pressure of the broken well and cracked seafloor.
If they are fast enough there is a chance to stop the spill. If not... what we have seen up to now is kiddy stuff.
The operation top kill was never intended to cap the well but to vacuum out even more oil so pressure drops elsewere.

40 million people in Gulf oil spill region to be "evacuated" by military, sources say

The US military is preparing to "evacuate" 40 million people in the region of the Gulf oil spill under the pretext of toxicity, according to sources.

40 million people could only be accomodated in the notorious FEMA camps, built around the country and resembling concentration camps or prisons and with on site incinerators.

Although this move to camps appears to be being sold to people as only temporary, there is strong evidence that the oil spill was started deliberately in order to implement martial law and find an excuse to put people in FEMA prison camps as part of a Bilderberg agenda to take of the USA.

This is a report:

"Info from an Oil Industry guy in Texas :

Gulf oil spill cannot be stopped using any conventional method as the Well Riser Pipe has become loose in the drill hole and oil is gushing out from around the base of the pipe. and the casing pipe has become fractured from pumping high pressure mud during the top kill process. Other geological reports are now surfacing that there are several other very large leaks some distance from the well head as the sea bottom has been fractured from the high pressure (2200psi) of 80K barrels a day seeping horizontally into layers of surrounding strata.

There is currently a major news black out over the entire area from New Orleans to Florida, but my sources tell me the following is currently in the staging process for the following:
Military is mobilizing for an all out evacuation of the entire region approximately 40M people due to extreme toxicity of the methane, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide, other reports indicate the only solution that can possibly contain the main leak is a Nuke placed down the second relief Well sometime in September. Remember: I did tell you that was what it would take!.
Big problem is where to put the displaced persons until they can effect a fix.

Furthermore if the seabed is already fractured the Nuke could cause the situation to become untenable if it isn't perfectly executed and really no one knows exactly how much explosive force is required and not harm the cap over the oil field which stretches from Venezuela to Utah.

Moreover: BP and Transocean will be filing bankruptcy within a couple of weeks leaving the American people to foot the bill which is expected to reach half a Trillion Dollars. BP has already spent 2 Billion and US Coast Guard and Navy another 3 Billion and that is nothing compared to the clean up if this goes on until the Oct or Nov.

This could push the US over the brink as there are no sources available to borrow any additional money.
My source tell me that If the seabed is fractured then all gulf coast drilling will be suspended.. period and that will force the price of energy and gas to double world wide within a few months
There is a lot more but Ill save you from the worst case scenario regarding the final option. Its unthinkable if it goes wrong!
I know this sounds a bit extreme but my information is rock solid.

(end of info)

Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater, dynamically positioned, semi-submersible offshore drilling rig. Built in 2001 in South Korea, it was owned by Transocean, registered in Majuro, Marshall Islands, and leased to BP plc until 2013.[7]

In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050 ft (10,680 m) and measured depth of 35,055 ft (10,685 m).[8] On April 20, 2010, an explosion on the rig killed eleven crewmen. The resulting fire could not be extinguished and, on April 22, 2010, Deepwater Horizon sank, leaving its well gushing and causing the largest offshore oil spill in United States history.[9]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepwater_Horizon

By April 20, the Deepwater Horizon well operation was already running five weeks late.[23] Internal BP documents show that BP engineers had concerns as early as 2009 that the metal casing BP wanted to use might collapse under high pressure.[24] In March 2010, the rig experienced problems that included drilling mud falling into the undersea oil formation, sudden gas releases, a pipe falling into the well, and at least three occasions of the blowout preventer leaking fluid.[24] The rig's mechanic has stated that the well had problems for months and that the drill repeatedly kicked due to high gas pressure providing resistance.[23] The levels of gas coming up from the well were twice as high as he'd ever seen in his career.[23]

QuoteAccording to geologist Gerald Dickens, frozen methane hydrate welling up from the ocean floor resulted in the mass extinction of the Late Paleocene period some 55 million years ago - and similar claims have been made for what geologists call the Great Dying, the mass extinction of most life 200 million years before that, at the end of the Permian period.
While the methane can cause greenhouse effects the oil can cause other effects. A film of oil slows evaporation. Meaning less rain. Disrupting the gulf stream meaning some parts of the world slip into a "ice age". But that guesswork because the only people that have the needed data are not very talkative.

Oil is not fossil fuel at all.  That's a lie.  Just like Global Warming is a lie and Peak oil is a lie.  Just like the fact that we need oil at all is a lie.

Satan...who deceives the whole world

Oilmen have known for a long time that abandoned oil wells replenish themselves.  They are the shallow repositors of the huge trenches of oil that exist deep below the earth's surface.

But, if there is an endless supply of oil, there goes the supply/demand equation, there goes one more way to control the world.

Instead, Obama wants to make sure we are shivering in our houses with the lights out because his is an economy of scarcity [except for a few].

If we [knew we] had unlimited energy, there's no telling what would happen.

QuoteDr. Robert Bea, Director of UC Berkeley's Catastrophic Risk Management Center, reported to AP that leaked BP documents reveal that dislodged methane hydrate, which had contaminated recently poured cement, was the culprit in the Gulf disaster.

QuoteABC reported last week that natural gas flowing from the broken well is slowing the gush of oil, a sign to them that the spill crisis might be abating. But as the gas moves, it is only time before some if it evaporates into the air as methane or the carbon dioxide that methane readily oxidizes into.

QuoteClimatologist Dr. Drew Shindell, of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, has recently demonstrated through computer modeling that methane when mixed with air is, molecule for molecule, the most powerful greenhouse house gas, 26 times more potent than CO2.

Is this why Obama was dancing with wild abandon and huge smiles in the Hey Jude video while the greatest catastrophe in written history unfolded on his doorstep?  Oh, imagine it, all the people dead, all the animals dead, all the money made trading carbon credits, that Energy bill will pass for sure now and they will be catapulted back to the stone age.  Let them eat oil!

Price of oil is based on the perception of the supply versus the demand.  Which is why we will see 6 dollar a gallon at the fuel pump before the end of the year unless a miracle happens.
