One clear example of this state of both having been done in the past and yet being revealed over time is where Jesus is said to have [past tense] all things put under his feet. Notice these places:

very good Ron!!

Hbr 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Hbr 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Rom 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].

Well, for me, the tares are carnal . .which is faithlessness.  And even though Christ is in me, there are still carnal things I get tangled up in.  If you can't admit that you're perfect, then there are tares there.  They are simply imperfections.  As the parable goes, it's not your responsibility to remove them . .as you mature in Christ "that" process takes care of itself.

Just because I accepted Christ, doesn't mean that I'm perfect.  But it does mean I'm perfected . .which is to say if I died  .there's no judgment, no hell, no lake of fire due to already being perfected by the blood of the lamb . .the 'finished' works being applied to my sin.  But if I don't physically die . . .there will still be times I'll argue with my wife, I'll still do the normal stupid things from time to time . . the imperfections will still manifest.  But they must not be all that deprimental otherwise we wouldn't be instructed to let them be.

Nathan, There are two different groups involved, not one group with two different problems of tares and wheat.
Christ did not say that the sons of the kingdom are also the sons of the wicked one.

Neither did Jesus say that a person has a son of the kingdom and a son of the wicked one in them.

Now I agree with you that we won't be judged at least not with the world, however I think we are being judged in this life: 1Co 11:32 "Yet, being judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."

Anyway, I don't want the thread to go off on a tangent as to judgment now.

So the parable of the tares and wheat is about two groups of people; sons of the kingdom and sons of the wicked one.
When Christ comes back at the end of the eon He will send forth the angels and kick out of the kingdom those wicked people. Those people will wheep and gnash their teeth at their great loss of not being involved in all the glories of the kingdom but will be chastened along with the bad nations in Matthew 25.

I see that people still don't get this:
Heaven must hold Jesus until the restoration of all (Acts 3. The restoration of all did not occur in 70 A.D.

Christ will return once the complement of the nations has entered (Romans 11:25,26). That has not occurred yet.

Peace,
Tony
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

Hi Tony, you wrote....

I think of Jesus' words.....

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the  kingdom of God is within  you.lk17.21

and Jesus was talking to the Pharisees!

And Jesus said......

And a man's foes are those of his own household.mt10.36

This is definitely implying that household is an individual person.

Now Tony, if this is not Jesus saying there is a war going on in each person between the Kingdom of God and the enemy then I don't know what to say.

Nathan, what I hear you saying here is that if we can't say we are perfect [another way of saying 'admit'], then that means there are tares in our life...and you're admitting you have them (as do I).  And I don't think I've met anyone who didn't have them...even St. Paul apparently did...("do what I don't want/don't do what I want").  So, If I'm reading you right, you just see those as imperfections that we don't have to struggle with, "buffeting our flesh"?  That Jesus will process them out of us as we mature?

Is so, then what do you think the process entails?
My upbringing involved conviction, guilt/sorrow, and subsequent confession and asking forgiveness---(I'm now looking at that more closely);
or just moving more into His image as He shapes us, without any particular struggles to "achieve/endure"?

Some teach that if one is chosen/a "manifest son of God" and/or an overcomer, that will involve self-discipline, buffeting and subduing the flesh, etc.  Living a "holy" life.

Yet there are a couple of references in the NT that say a child of God no longer sins, i.e., Paul saying "it is no longer I that sin, but the sin that dwells in me"...

Insights from you and others?

Hey Kim . . . what Jabcat says here is what I was trying to say about that issue.  And to try to kill two birds with one stone here, let me say that we're dealing with different dimensions when acknowledging the tares.  On the natural level, no one can say they have no imperfections.  I see it that faithlessness was bred into us by way of the first Adams choice to live by knowledge rather than life.  Adam, being the father of all flesh as a result, passed on these tares which take root in my field.

We had a piece of property here in town where I live, that they came in and bulldozed it off last summer.  They brought in truck loads of dirt to build up many of the low spots.  After a rain or two  . . .immediately, the bare dirt began to produce a countless number of weeds.  No one went in there and planted them, they just seemed to pop up out of no where.  Now, I know that Scripture states that the enemy planted the tares while the workers were sleeping.

It is "assumed" that the enemy is the devil . . but I beg to differ.  I believe the enemy is not a force from without, but it's my carnality from within.  I am my own worst enemy.  In Adam was Eve, in Eve was the serpent (that ought to light a few fires out there).  In the Spirit was the soul, (mind) and in the mind is my ego.  It is my ego that is my carnal man.  My Spirit is my godman (for lack of a better term other than "spirit" again)  And my mind is what does the choosing as to which one to follow.  So when my mind sleeps . .in the night . .that's never a good thing spiritually speaking.

Literally, even though the body sleeps, the mind never does.  Spiritually, when the mind sleeps, it's disengaged and the ego takes over . .and that is where the tares come from, from within my carnality.  Scripture tells us to take our thoughts captive.  My spirit has been given authority over both my mind and my ego.  Eve would desire after her husband, but he would rule over her . .it's the same language used of God when speaking to Cain.  He states Satan desired after him as well, but that he would rule over him . . .but he didn't.

Genesis 4
7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

And Adam didn't either.  Instead of subduing his earth, he submitted to it by "receiving" the fruit from Eve . . .it was supposed to be the other way around.  My Spirit is to feed my mind, not my mind feeding my spirit.  And that is where my tares come from.  My ego plants them in my mind as it sleeps in darkness, rather than walking in the Light of the Day.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, there are several dimensions here . . .when I observe in the natural, I naturally see imperfections.  But when I walk in the spirit, the natural imperfections are still there, but they are not accredited to me due to the fact that I've accepted the finished work of the cross through Christ.  So . ."in Christ" I can not sin.  Another reason we are instructed to walk in the spirit.  It's the realm where the mortal mind puts on immortality.  it's where death has lost it's sting.  Everybody wants to be pretty . . .well, in the spirit, the imperfections don't exist.

That's a simplistic way of looking at it. . .but it works for me.  The more I walk in the spirit, the less I see of my tares . as well as tares in others.  And "that's" the process.  In this world we have trials and tribulations . . .naturally, but be of good cheer, Christ has over come the world . .totally and completely.  When you walk in Christ, the tribulations are of no ill effect.

Hi Nathan,

I think along the lines of multiple dimensions as well, we may or may not agree on the specifics though.

I have long thought that the depiction of the Serpent is different from Satan.

So if we have a separation of these dimensions we have something different that can be perceived.

Think about when Jesus was tempted,   Satan came to Jesus and offered him the whole world.   Now think about this.  Jesus is said to have came to earth limited in knowledge, so as Jesus was contemplating his own power, his flesh, and what he knew his purpose to be Jesus could of looked at the physical realm thinking. With my power I can do anything here and fulfull all my feelings and desires of the flesh.  All Jesus had to do was give in to that.   I think Jesus knew he was froma greater realm, but I wonder if his limited knowledge allowed him to perceive its greatness.  Probably not.

I still think there is certainly more to Satan in the bible than it appears most depict.  Most despict one or the other.   He is said to be this spirit being that moves from place to place,  or he is said to be just in our mind.

Job tells us many things and one thing it does show us is that Satan is not only about the inner workings of our own mind.  But it is not only about this physical world and what happens in our lives either.

I see in this life I can dwell on the physical, I can then see how ther physical has caused things in me that are perception beyond the physical and feelings.  I also know that I have in areas been sifted as grain.   Aside from traditional teaching, I have not lifted one finger in procedure to bring that about.  It's not that I sat back and went limp and God did it all, just that as I engage in this life, trying to do this or that or even appease my own emotions I see how I am the pot after all, yet, there is nothing that God is pulling my strings about when it comes to my own thinking or efforts.

Yeah, I agree with you much.  The picture of Jesus being tempted . . .to consider that darkness could tempt light is nuts.  But when you see it naturally that Jesus "mind" tried to combat his true purpose, that really brings it home.  And later when he turns to Peter . . .calls him Satan???  How Rude!!!  But if he simply says "Dude, you're becoming an adversary to my purpose here with your carnal mind getting in the way of yourself"  That, I can relate to.

And yes, I also drift from time to time when trying to pin all of it down.  My mind doesn't retain as much as my spirit . .nor does it talk in the same language . . .which is why I comment about following the sound within versus wandering in the noise without.  I would love to see just how much my subconsciousness absorbs of things without my consciousness being aware of it.  I sense this is what has happened to many who embrace certain theories of theology.  Could it be that the satan we now invision, was never the original intent when it was originally written?  But instead, it's the result of a religious mind's imagination that took root in the mainline church where it is now guarded and protected by religious gate-keepers of the laws.

I sorta see it as we are overcomers through the faith of Christ and anything that we do that is not of faith is sin. We know faith worketh by love and that we are perfected in love (God). Its "out of" Zion "God" the perfection of beauty is to shine. I dont walk perfectly in love yet and I think if one did love perfectly it wouldnt boast of itself because love is not proud.

I do believe we are called to be ye perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect (or in time as He is so will we be in this world). Jesus said everyone who IS perfect will be like his Master. So just as when we see Jesus we see the Father, so likewise when we really start seeing Him as He is I believe we too will be like Him.

The disciples were sure not "immediately" like Him  A disciple is a "learner" still learning of Him and none of us are worthy to even be "that" unless we take up our cross and follow Him.

James says the perfect man offends not in WORD. I sorta always imagined it to be something else (to be truthful) but thats what He says.

I sometimes dont bridle my tongue so I have not gotten to that point yet  I used to be much better at it when I gave diligence in taking heed to myself and its that I need to return to because I find myself being snappy and letting loose my bridle.

Ofcourse it speaks of DOING righteousness and I believe that comes through the power God has given us to become Sons but its His work and He performs it making us able.

So I see our tongue and our doings are being perfected but not without taking some heed and giving diligence and the fruit of the Spirit empowering our self control. I believe the grace of God is an effectual thing, so He will empower us to become.

Prov 23: 16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation

Psalm 50:23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Prov 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life

Loved those verses when I found them cause He was helping me adress my tongue, my biggest problem

so Kim,

are you part time "son" and part time "bastard".  When sinning, you must be lacking faith, so then a bastard;

and when living by faith, the Spirit is in you and you are no longer in the Flesh, so then a son??

There is a sin unto death and a sin not unto death.

Joh 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

so if John 5:24 is true, then are we in Adam (death) or are we in Christ (life).

I continue to see relevance to this topic on wheat and tares,

that if u are "in Christ",  you have passed from "tares" into "wheat".  We are a new creation.  I continue to hold that fire that tries your faith is just that, trieng "faith", not trieing for lack of faith.

How can I be a tare or have tares within me, when I have passed from death to life??

Dear CP,
Thanks for feeling for me but really, let's see what the scriptures say about that thar clay:

Rom 9:21-23  Or has not the potter the right over the clay, out of the same kneading to make one vessel, indeed, for honor, yet one for dishonor?  (22)  Now if God, wanting to display His indignation and to make His powerful doings known, carries, with much patience, the vessels of indignation, adapted for destruction,  (23)  it is that He should also be making known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He makes ready before for glory -"
It does not say that God made one vessel and that vessel was dishonorable and honorable.

Two different vessels out of the same kneading bro. That's what the whole point is about: Jacob I love (vessel of mercy) yet Esau I hate (vessel of indignation). Moses (vessel of mercy) Pharaoh (vessel of indignation). Believers, or chosen (vessel of mercy) unchosen (vessels of indignation).

Also there are two different types of vessels: vessels of indignation and different vessels of mercy. The vessels of mercy are not the same vessels as that of indignation.
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

As far as "people" are concerned, the people who are first shown no mercy are the same people who are later shown mercy.

Hosea 2:23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

Hi Tony,

This will really blow your mind.

I only see two men in the Bible, Adam and Christ. Everyone I know is or will be somewhere in the process of putting off the old and putting on the new. This is accomplished as Jesus Christ is revealed from Heaven. The destiny of us all is summed up in these 2 men.

God is making man in His image.

Tony, I only have to look within my being to see the truth of what I am saying. It matters nothing to me about what happened in 70 AD unless it pertains to my life and yours right now. It matters little to me that God made some vessels out of clay and some He liked and some He didn't unless this is speaking about me and you, not us and them.

I just don't see the Bible as an us and them thing. It is a me thing and a you thing and a every person thing.

I see all people as a tiny part of a much bigger whole and I see each person as a world made up of seemingly infinite things.

God so loves the world (you and me and....) that He sends His Son to save!
