But, I have a question.  If Jesus is the last Adam--what is this "generation of vipers"?  Not Adam?

[/quote]

Well Molly, to me it is referring to the old man, the man of sin, the carnal man. You know. If I look within I see more than a generation of vipers in me. I'm a nasty sort but I fight to love God. There is that within me that fights this endeavor tooth and nail. Generation of vipers sums it up nicely. I am thankful for the Christ within me for taking them on. I know He will win.

Quotewhat is this "generation of vipers"?
Hi Molly

Vipers are likened to snakes or adders , serpents..Their TONGUE full of DEADLY poison, ..more simply put their WORDS KILL, speaks of the Ministry of Death , check out the Rudder Thread on the TAMING of the TONGUE, speaks about James there on the tongue,,

Recall To HAVE "POWER to walkover serpents

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Psa 58:4 Their poison [is] like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder [that] stoppeth her ear;
Psa 140:3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison [is] under their lips. Selah.
Rom 3:13 Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips:
Jam 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison

Hi Zeek,

For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Phil2.13

I would say I am enduring to and waiting for God's work and Jesus' work to be done in me and in all creation. I am a complete work yet I am a work in progress. Do you understand what I am trying to say?

cp

I do, but I guess I dont see it that way anymore.

So how do you know when his work is completed in you?  or is this unattainable while you are "flesh being"?  What's HIS measuring stick?

So are you waiting for salvation, or are you saved??

I don't have to know, I just become. I guess it is in the becoming that I know. God's measuring stick is Jesus Christ who is God's image. God said, Let us make man in our image. He is doing it.

I am waiting for salvation and yes, I am already saved. Depends on what perspective you take.

cp

I don't know who's quote is in this quote . .it really isn't specifying . .but they asked a question about what God's measuring stick is . . . actually, my answer to their over all post . .which is this . . .

So how do you know when his work is completed in you?  or is this unattainable while you are "flesh being"?  What's HIS measuring stick?

So are you waiting for salvation, or are you saved??

My answer in general would be . . .you neither know of the completion, nor should you know.  For if you do, then your eyes are on you and not on your source of life.  That's why we say keep your eyes "fixed" on Christ.  I am perfected, but I am not perfect.  I am completed, but I am not complete.  I am finished, but I'm still finishing.

I am not what I percieve myself to me, but I am what "He's" proclaimed me to be.  In natural realm of things, I will never measure up. I don't have eyes that see invisible things.  All I see is what is immediately around me . .which after a short while, can get down right depressing.  But that's not where I'm to dwell.  If I'm to change the natural things around me, I must first come into alignment with what is spiritually completed in me.

In the spirit realm there is no waiting.  Prayers are answer before they are even fully uttered from our mouths.  The over all purpose for man is that man reproduces after his own kind, that he replenishes the earth so that what is complete in heaven, can be released in the earth.  For us to reproduce . .we must come into the maturity of Christ . .which simply means, walk in the spirit and LET Christ manifest through us, into others.  It's all actually an act of spiritual intimacy.  There is a man (spirit) there is a womb (mind) and there is semen (life seed)  when the mind submits to the man, life is released and truth is birthed into the body.

The real reason why I'm responding to this post, was dealing with God's measuring stick.  In the natural, it's the law that measures the status of a man.  But in the spirit . . .well, for me, it's in the numbers.

Genesis 6
3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

I see the acceptable year of the Lord that Jesus was referring to is the year of Jubilee.  Israel was to let the land rest every 7 years and after 49 years (7x7) on the 50th, it was declared the year of Jubilee where any land that was sold due to debt or any other reason, was to be returned to the rightful family that inherited it, as well as any debt you owed was wiped clean . . .Jesus "is" the Sabbath . .completed, he is the Jubilee . . . God's measuring is through his son.

When he stated that he would not labor with man but 120 years . . .when you multiply 120 by 50 . .you get 6,000 . .or . .6 days . . . the days of labor.  God will not wrestle with carnality only for the 6 days of labor.  After that, comes the triumphant entry of the Sabbath . . in Christ. . .the "Rest" that Hebrews speaks of.

Someone asked a question pertaining to "in that day" .  . There is only one day, and it's not a 24 hour period, it's a person.  Adam walked with God in the spirit of that Day . . . John was also in the spirit of that Day when the mind-blowing revelation of Christ was given to him.  In order for us to lead anyone into the kingdom, we ourselves must retrain our religion-induced minds to the ways of God rather than to what we've had ingrained in us all these years . . .

I'm done again . . .(with just this post Taf . . .with just this post.)

A couple of things I won't go into great detail that tie in with what you shared is the SIX water pots at the wedding of Cana that were filled to the brim with water at the first, changed into the new wine of the Kingdom. The timing is revealed thru that also. And the man of the gadarenes who had a legion (2000 or 2 days) cast out of him, again the timing is revealed by what day it was that Jesus did it. Everything leads to another leads to another leads to another......Blessings....

Hey Zeek, You asked.....

and the salvation you are waiting for, what is it that you are saved from when it comes??

I am saved from my self. I see myself in Adam and I see myself in Christ, thanks to not a few here who post. My Adam essence needed and needs rebirthing through death and resurrection to become God's image.

Zeek, does this make sense? I really aim to keep things simple. I see myself and all other humans as in a process of salvation, a salvation that is as sure as God Himself. It is a done deal from God's perspective yet it is being lived out from my perspective.

A bit off subject but I just saw the other day how the wine at Cana also reinforces the truth that it is the natural first and then the spiritual. The best wine was put forth last.

Yeah it makes sense, I just don't see myself as "in Adam".  If anyone is in Christ he is a new creature.

This is where I struggle with some of the whole "tares" in us, that need to be burned out that so many here see.

Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

I see a big difference between fiery trial of our faith,

versus

burning of the tares.

1Jn 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Nathan

Well, for me, the tares are carnal . .which is faithlessness.  And even though Christ is in me, there are still carnal things I get tangled up in.  If you can't admit that you're perfect, then there are tares there.  They are simply imperfections.  As the parable goes, it's not your responsibility to remove them . .as you mature in Christ "that" process takes care of itself.

Just because I accepted Christ, doesn't mean that I'm perfect.  But it does mean I'm perfected . .which is to say if I died  .there's no judgment, no hell, no lake of fire due to already being perfected by the blood of the lamb . .the 'finished' works being applied to my sin.  But if I don't physically die . . .there will still be times I'll argue with my wife, I'll still do the normal stupid things from time to time . . the imperfections will still manifest.  But they must not be all that deprimental otherwise we wouldn't be instructed to let them be.

Nathan, what I hear you saying here is that if we can't say we are perfect [another way of saying 'admit'], then that means there are tares in our life...and you're admitting you have them (as do I).  And I don't think I've met anyone who didn't have them...even St. Paul apparently did...("do what I don't want/don't do what I want").  So, If I'm reading you right, you just see those as imperfections that we don't have to struggle with, "buffeting our flesh"?  That Jesus will process them out of us as we mature?

Is so, then what do you think the process entails?
My upbringing involved conviction, guilt/sorrow, and subsequent confession and asking forgiveness---(I'm now looking at that more closely);
or just moving more into His image as He shapes us, without any particular struggles to "achieve/endure"?

Some teach that if one is chosen/a "manifest son of God" and/or an overcomer, that will involve self-discipline, buffeting and subduing the flesh, etc.  Living a "holy" life.

Yet there are a couple of references in the NT that say a child of God no longer sins, i.e., Paul saying "it is no longer I that sin, but the sin that dwells in me"...

QuoteIf that is the case, that the unveiling always "will be", then there never can be a "completed" consumation; because there will always be a "will be".   It never can be "finished", because there is always one more individual that "will be" unveiled.

the "will be" implies un-ending unveiling.   the enemy never can be fully defeated, as always "more unveiling" is in the future.

When the last enemy is destroyed, then will there be a "will be" revealing/unveiling still?;

according to your theory, the last enemy never really is destroyed, as "unveiling always "will be".

wow i dont see it that way, why does the WILL BE have to mean forever, is the ""was" forever? is the ""IS"" forever? me thinks you use sophistry here mr zeek.

The 'IS' is forever, and a memorial forever.

I Am

because "will be" implies future.

but basically what you are saying is, all enemies are not defeated now, and individually "will be" is in effect; until a future "big event" that will defeat all the enemies?

Zeek

The part i'm struggling with is, the whole "i'm a new creature" in Christ,

and not Flesh if the Spirit of God is in me;

yet

it seems people here with the "is, was and will be" continue to imply that they really aren't new creations, really not Flesh anymore; based on their "sensory" perceptions.  So they continue to believe carnal is being burned out of them.  It's as if they are "part time" new creation and "part time Flesh".  Mixing oil and water.

Growing in HIM as his child, not a bastard is not the same as "burning the tares" out of us.

they've been burned out already.

Faith is what overcomes.

am I way off??

When that which is perfect is come, is that not possible NOW??

are you saying you beleive this is it, and that the ""consumation" per 1 cor 15 is past?

Hbr 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

gregoryfl

One clear example of this state of both having been done in the past and yet being revealed over time is where Jesus is said to have [past tense] all things put under his feet. Notice these places:

1Co 15:27 For, "He put all things in subjection under his feet."

Eph 1:22 He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the called-out assembly,

Heb 2:8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet."

This occured at the resurrection of Christ, which is why he could rightly say "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth."

And yet, does it appear that all things are in subjection to him? No. In fact, Paul goes on to say the same when he says:

Heb 2:8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don't see all things subjected to him, yet.

This, I believe, is where revelation comes in, for the illusion is presented to our physical eyes and experience that he doesn't have all authority yet, when the reality is that he in fact does. The "seeing" that Paul speaks of here is seeing with our physical eyes. He doesn't stop there however, thankfully. For he goes on to say:

Heb 2:9 But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Yahushua, because of the suffering of death crowned with esteem and honor, that by the favor of the Mighty One he should taste of death for everyone.

Paul here shows the reality, which can be "seen" by eyes of faith. He is indeed crowned with esteem and honor, even though to our physical eyes it doesn't appear to be so yet. Over time as that which is temporal passes away, the reality is made more and more clear.

I see a big difference between fiery trial of our faith,

versus

burning of the tares.

I think of Pauls words...For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order 1cor15.22

Put  off  concerning the former conversation of the  old man , which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye  put  on the new  man eph 4.22

Zeek, it seems as though we are in a process of shedding the carnal essence and maturing into the spiritual. The shedding of the mortal, imo, is a burning of the tares. This is what happens in the presence of Jesus Christ and His holy angels.

Perspective. I do see myself in Adam from one perspective and I do see myself in Christ from another. Time, space and perspective are tricky things in God's world, the world of the spirit.

For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

One clear example of this state of both having been done in the past and yet being revealed over time is where Jesus is said to have [past tense] all things put under his feet. Notice these places:

very good Ron!!

Hbr 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Rom 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].
