Quote from: TonyHey, it's my birthday the 12th. So, like Molly, I'm naming it and claiming it that all of you will see how I see these things. So it must happen.

Ok.  You got it.  Happy Birthday!

But, please, not by any literal plagues and fire and most of the world being wiped out.

Rather, by the mountain of God filling the whole earth--so that God can be all in all.

34Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

If I told you how I am seeing this scripture now, I wonder what you would say.

Shall I risk it?

Or, ask you--How do you see it?  What does it mean for Jesus to be sitting on the right hand of God?  What is the right hand of God?

Hi Molly, great post.
I'm going to learn how to ski so when that mountain comes I can go skiing and mountain climbing and camping out. But if it fills the whole earth then there won't be any valley, no ocean, just one huge mountain. Me thinks Daniel was reciting a vision of symbolic nature to stand for something literal to come.

But Jesus didn't speak in symbolic language in Matt.24,25 as to what is to occur, did He?

blessing to you sis!
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

Psalm 82

1God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

2How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

3Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

7But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Dear Bob, Just because Paul brought out an allegory concerning the bond woman and free does not mean EVERYTHING is an allegory in Scripture.

Did I say that Tony?  Was that the point of talking about that allegory?  No.  It was to point at that just because a passage LOOKS literal does not make it literal-only.  You said you know it is not allegorical because you know it is literal.  Paul knew the passages he referenced in Genesis were both literal and allegorical.

QuoteNeither the prophets, nor any writer in the new testament presents the things happening in Matt.24,25 as allegorical. No, not even one.

Yet Jesus said that generation would not pass away till all these things be fulfilled.

QuoteAll the Scriptures in the O.T. concerning the coming Messiah (Christ); were they to be taken as allegorical with no real happenning?

Again, I'm not talking about all OT scriptures.  And an allegory actually implies both real happening and another meaning.

31Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

36Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Quote from: Nathan on January 09, 2009, 08:21:19 PM
Faith comes by hearing . . .it's not hearing words, it's hearing sound.  "My sheep will know me by the "sound" of my voice."  We dwell on the words when our emphasis should be more on the "sound" of the voice.  What transforms noise into sound is Love.  Which again, is not an emotion, it's a person.   It'd be saying the same thing if you inserted without the lake of fire one is nothing more than a clanging cymbal.  The lake of fire is Love, they are one and the same in that they are the Father.  He is my river, He is my desert.  He is my Day, he is my night.

Trying to logically comprehend that will only lead me to a headache.

Consummation of the ages:

Daniel 9:27 - And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

Hebrews 9:26 - Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Isaiah 10:22 - For though your people, O Israel, may be like the sand of the sea, Only a remnant within them will return; A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.

Isaiah 10:23 - For a complete destruction, one that is decreed, the Lord GOD of hosts will execute in the midst of the whole land.

Isaiah 28:22 - And now do not carry on as scoffers, Or your fetters will be made stronger;
For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts - Of decisive destruction on (not of) all the earth.

"Give ear and hear my voice."

"Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down." (Matthew 24:2)

"Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (let the reader understand) ...verse 15.

The desolation spoken of by Daniel, is that of Matthew, decreed in Isaiah, and confirmed in Hebrews.

Appears their guilt fell on the forth generation, not running the full course until then:

"Behold, I have told you in advance."

Yet, many are still waiting for a sign.

I can say at this point that I'm only partial preterist...seeing more and more of what was actually fulfilled in 70 A.D.  But I really do like your post, PM...very helpful...

what's your take on the abomination of desolation?  Pretrib rapturers think it's the anti-christ (future) sitting in the (rebuilt?) temple ..hmmmm....maybe not :mnah:...

Also, if the temple's not rebuilt, then the sacrifice and grain offering verse is also a bit problematic wrt to futurism, huh? ...

I haven't followed every post on this VERY long thread...if this is getting too off topic, maybe you could answer me on the "Is rebuilding the temple unscriptural?" thread...THANKS!
