Fox News:  URGENT: The fire alarm system on the Deepwater Horizon was disabled prior to the catastrophic explosion that caused the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, rig worker testifies.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/23/report-alarm-gulf-rig-disabled-oil-spill/
QuoteWhen he questioned a Transocean official who turned a system that removes dangerous gas from the drilling shack to "bypass mode," the man reprimanded him, he said.

"The damn thing's been in bypass for five years. Why'd you even mess with it?" the official said, according to Williams' testimony. That supervisor, Mark Hay, told him the entire fleet of oil rigs runs on bypass mode.

Williams told the panel he believed the fire alarms had been inhibited for over a year before the spill, a decision made by leadership aboard the rig.
That the alarm was turned of because they didn't want to wake up the crew regularly when not needed, I can understand. But they should have installed a better alarm long ago.

The "bypass mode" off is company policy when it's done on all rigs for 5 years. And on itself enough to close down all rigs. Did they turn it on during inspections? Or did the inspectors just took a nap and left the rigs? Safety measure have no use if they are turned off by default.

:cloud9: Yes, that's it, Jab.....thanks

In '07 I had a dream from the Lord in which I was taken to see SIX men in white business shirts and black pants, standing around something, chanting like they were praying at an altar, but when I got close enogh to see in the midst of them, it was like they were counting money into the trillions. I knew they weren't real people, but rather Him showing me a principality that He was getting ready to deal with. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.....

You combine the information from Molly's link and this one, and you see how they accomplished what they set out to do with this country already. We're just waiting for the last shoe to drop.... :mshock:

Are you sure about this dream. What if this dream means that God is about to bless the righteous with great riches. The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. The reason it could be that, is because, these men are chanting, praying? ungodly don't pray, and in front of the altar? The altar reminds me of Abrahams altar and God's promise of exceeding riches to his seed. Also 6 men, 6 is the number of man, so why would God use this number to represent a principality demonic force? Also if these men loved money, did they dance or were happy when they counted the money? since their suppose to love it so much?

I know it's your dream, but just points to ponder on. You might emphasize spiritual riches, but earthly riches can bring spiritual riches, for with Gold one can feed the poor and bring Christ into the lives of the poor, so that they can be made rich.

:cloud9: No, it was a feeling of "unclean" when I was brought to the scene, and their chants were counting money. It was like they were hypnotized almost. This root in the heart of man came at the fall, and must be dealt with before God can bring the riches of "Egypt" to the just. They mirror the true spiritual riches, nothing more. Blessings....

:cloud9: This is an open letter from a FB friend in Biloxi, Mississippi......

dear friends,

first, thank you for your inquiries about myself and my community.

biloxi is beautiful this time of year. the heat is beginning but the fishing is always awesome and the sunsets reaffirm my belief in God as master painter. so far, there is no slick on our beaches. tarballs are found and reported to the proper authorities as they sometimes naturally occur. the beaches still glisten. the air still carries the perfume of nature. from a quick glance, it would seem that all is well, so far...

a closer look, though, reveals that it is not. sea turtles, one of the longest living creature in the sea, wash up dead by the hundreds. local fish caught in bays, sounds, and tributaries look healthy on the outside but reveal the catastrophe once filleted for the daily sustenance, as the black ooze coats their insides and makes them inedible. the local news outlets show photos and video of oil covered birds pecking at the hulls of boats, trying to make a hole so that they can pull themselves out of the liquid pestilence. 65 miles away, in st. bernard parish, where i am building, the community still reeling from katrina have already laid off all commercial fishermen. all of them. they hire their boats and themselves for the rescue and hazmat effort, but a way of life has now disappeared and nobody knows for how long. i watch the cranes, egrets and herons that fish every morning in the bayous move farther inland and decrease noticeably in numbers. as i drive by the rivers, bayous, and portions of the gulf of mexico, i cannot ignore the gift that has been ripped from our hands and drenched in black evil.

as you can tell, i survived katrina. that singular force of nature shook my dying soul and blew new life into it. i lived in my driveway for weeks. i spoke to, lived with, and helped neighbors that never acknowledged me before. family asked agencies to help find me and tell them i was alright. i was. i had to rise up, shake off a drug dependency and emotional hurt that i had carried in my heart for almost a decade. God asked my neighbors and i to meet the needs of ourselves and others. when it was over and the rebuilding had begun, i was myself again. Strong and resilient, my crippledness overcome and incorporated into the new paradigm that was me, i found that my Lord did love me and had blessed me with determination and principals.

mississippi responded strong to the adversity. they had to. our government failed us. we had only ourselves and each other. louisiana did not respond as quickly. plagued by corruption that shadowed every citizens move and choice, the dependency on local, state and federal governments revealed a weakness that is probably shared by millions in this country: what will the government do?

my friends, i will tell you what the government will do.

before things like this will happen, they will ignore your cries in order to nurture an economic system that is already in place and antiquated. they will pay election debts to their benefactors with your birthright and the birthright of your children. they will crank the war machine for transparent lies. they will allow companies to ignore cures to sell you medicine that will JUST keep you alive and buying more medicine. they will lease the rights bequeathed us by God to validate economic rituals that are ancient and whose time has past. they will squash the idealist who specialize in matching kindred souls and intellects that can collectively identify and develop long-term solutions that will allow us and our generations to evolve.

they will ignore you in your time of need until the pockets of their friends are shallow and the voices of millions are heard in one loud vote.

once things like this happen, they will be late, throw money at everything, pawn your highways and clean water just to look good on television and at the polls. they will tweak the pundits until they spew hatred on every channel and twist the reasoning of the simple until we are all mirror images of themselves. they will blame, avoid, and dissemble until it is too late. they will squander our reputation internationally as a peaceful and strong nation, leaving a bad taste in our neighbors mouth from the shabby goods we sell them.

friends, need i remind you that we are self-governed?

i looked at a neighborhoods in the 9th ward of new orleans yesterday. the rebirth of a community after katrina is finally showing signs of genius, determination, and moral turpitude. the newly built housing shows innovation and an understanding of our place in nature. the solar panels glisten as they push us towards self reliance and natural responsibility. the neighborhood shows, however much still hidden, our unbending faith in God.

now, i need to speak of what no one else will (or wants to). the elephant in the room. what will happen if katrina meets the oil spill and blankets the entire south with our own black blood money? who will save you then? turn a 20 foot storm surge into a 20 ft. oil surge. add the weight of raw crude to 150 mile per hour winds. can you see the cover of time magazine after this, printing a somber photograph of a pearly white church steeple, broken in half and covered in oil? the stage is set for this. the blame belongs to us. we allow talk radio to make up our political minds and lead us like sheep into the abyss. we mortgage our future for bread money because our faith is in the dollar and not our Lord? what kind of insanity is this and why have we allowed it? is no one taking notes in the great class of life experience? where is our humanity?

the sun will set on the beach tonight in biloxi, as it always does. for the first time in my life, i can envision the sunset here with no soul left to see it. the thought shakes me to my core.

please wake up. and wake up others. we need you....

your friend,
dave

BP accused of 'buying academic silence'
By Robyn Bresnahan
BBC News  Bob Shipp said BP wanted to hire his entire marine science department
The head of the American Association of Professors has accused BP of trying to "buy" the best scientists and academics to help its defence against litigation after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

"This is really one huge corporation trying to buy faculty silence in a comprehensive way," said Cary Nelson.

BP faces more than 300 lawsuits so far.

In a statement, BP says it has hired more than a dozen national and local scientists "with expertise in the resources of the Gulf of Mexico".

The BBC has obtained a copy of a contract offered to scientists by BP . It says that scientists cannot publish the research they do for BP or speak about the data for at least three years, or until the government gives the final approval to the company's restoration plan for the whole of the Gulf.

Anyone have any insights/revelation on;
speaking up against and resisting the evil of our (and other) government vs.;
"obey those in authority/they are placed there by God" and "live a quiet peaceable life"?

I personally find this to be a dilemma.  Thanks.

7. Buy a barrel sodium thiopental.
8. Buy a few extra clips.

(sadly) history shows corrupt regimes only can be removed by force.

About your dilemma....there is none.
"obey those in authority/they are placed there by God" and "live a quiet peaceable life"?
I think that's most of the time not true.
In the OT God helped to wipe out the enemies of His people. That were also kings. Was God fighting kings He has put in charge?

Edited;  RE: your OT question, "maybe" (see below).  God has a huge plan, much of which I don't understand the details.  I've been praying for wisdom.

As far as authority, there's this;  "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God."  Romans 13:1

Sounds violent, Molly.

Can you put that in context of this verse?

You were born in this county.  That means God has placed you in authority.  Those people in Wash work for YOU.  You are their boss.  Do you call/write/donate or not/ instruct others/educate yourself/educate others as to whether they are doing what you sent them there to do?  Do you even know what they are doing?  As their boss, is there something that you think they should do that they are not doing?  Or something that they are doing that you want them to stop?

Do you think if they got calls from their constituents all day long telling them to stop the corexit, it would still be going on?

Or do you believe their propaganda that there is nothing that any one man can do because the juggernaut is too big and too powerful?

Do you really think they don' know nothin' about birthin' babies?

Everything they do has a goal.

The time for being passive is over.

Mark 3:27
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

jabcat

So you'd add "calls from their constituents all day long telling them to stop" to my list above.

What would you personally do if "they came to take you away"?

I've given this serious thought, and again, I believe there's a dilemma that needs to be resolved (at least one that I'm personally working on).

Put away the sword, or sell what you have and buy a sword...

Protest and resist, or live a quite peaceable life...

Speaking of dilemma.  I'm (generally) a believer in passivism, but I carry a gun (legally).  I don't believe in murder, but I believe in self (and others') defense.  I wouldn't go to foreign soil to fight, and would discourage my children from doing so.  But I would defend this country (from without, so what about from within?).

I think within Christendom there really is a dichotomy about this topic.  From some saying don't get involved at all, to some saying load your guns and shoot the feds...From my perspective, I think it needs clarification, but then again, what we get is so many's varying opinions.

As I alluded to earlier, it's probably time to pray for wisdom.  And I was serious about suggestions to do "what specifically"...

That's such an odd thing to say.  Why would you even let it get to that point?

If you study history, you will see that these things don't happen overnight.  You should train yourself to see that move coming ten steps before it happens--and stop it in its tracks.

Evil reigns when good men do nothing.  If you really think we are going in that direction, it's time to run for office.

jabcat

I don't think it's odd.  If things are in such shape as many claim (and I'm not necessarily disputing) then "them coming to take you away" seems a possibility at some point.

If you don't want to answer, that's OK, but I think it gets to the heart of "resist" or "live peaceably".

So "run for office" would also go on the list.

See, that's the thing.  This thread is almost 30 pages long, with IMO, lots of good information.

But Cardinal's letter she posted included a specific plea..."we need you"...so to me, the obvious question is, "so church, what do we do?  What's "within the bounds of 'holy'/acceptable behavior"?

Personally, I've been thinking through that for some time, and I guess I really shouldn't expect anyone to have the answer for me.

I'm not mocking you.  You should know me better than that by now.   :friendstu:

I think it's a real issue.  But what I'm asking is not only "nuts and bolts", but also scripturally and spiritually, "what's allowed"?  I have my own thoughts on it, some of which I've already shared.  But still, I think there are some real dilemmas for Christians in these matters.  I've butted heads with a fellow believer on here about even defending oneself and ones' family.

But as I said again, maybe what I should really expect is a lot of different opinions, maybe one of them will "click" and help fill in some blanks.  In the meantime, I think we better be praying.   :2c:

"Stop thinking and do something".

Is that a little harsh for someone who's truly interested and concerned?

IMO, sometimes just "doing something" can be worse than doing nothing - especially if we aren't clear or in good consciense about what we're doing.  That's why I'm asking for specific ideas folks have.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.  [typing test].
