Paul,

Yes, God is love. Why do you think he loves unbelievers who He calls His enemies?( James 4:4)

You have to divide Gods character between loving the creation and hating creations corruption.

Quote
Read 1 Samuel 15:1-3. 3"Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman and INFANT, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'

Did God love Amalek so much that he order their children to be slaughtered?

That is because you decide that the literal events is not a spiritual picture.

I know these scriptures are hard to read and I take no pleasure pointing out how God deals with his enemies. I only do so to show how God does not love every unbeliever in the entire world, only His children.

How we feel about scripture is irrelevant and you are free to believe in that image of God.     But extracting words out of scripture to say that God hates in a manner like a man does not hold up.  To say God only loves his children contradicts the scripture I posted.

We love God because he loves us first and you as a believer also sin and God does not love your sin just because you can claim to be his child.  But his hate for your sin does not carry over to your spirit and who God created you to be.

We all give account for our lives and I have no delusion that I will avoid Gods judgment but I know that when I fall into the hands of the living God it will be for my own good and his glory.

Paul,

Just showing from God's word that He does not love every unbeliever like His agape love for His children.

That is why I believe the age of hell is forever and   not temporary.  Heaven is forever, why is Hell not forever?

Every believer was once an unbeliever.  Since God is not a respector of persons what you say does not hold up to scripture.

Just showing from Gods word that Heaven as we might traditionally been taught is questionable.

Re 21:1 . And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Paul,

God chose his elect before there was time.( Eph 1:3-5; 2 Thess 2:13-14) Yes, we all were born unbelievers but by God's sovereign grace He soveriegnly chose me, drew me, and granted me the repentance and faith to believe on Jesus to be regenerated.( Jn 6:44 ; Acts 11:18 ; Phil 1:29) I give God all the glory for my salvation!

God is not a respecter of persons when it comes to His elect.

CoG, if what you say is correct, and [only a few elect] were chosen in him before there was time, and the rest are not chosen, then what is the problem?  Either one is chosen or  not, according to you, and if you are not, there's not much anyone can do about it.

So why can't we all relax about it?  What else is there to say?  Haven't you just reached the end of the discussion?

And, if some who might not really be chosen, according to you, still want to profess their love for him, what of it?

Job 13:15
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him...

Well it is a simple matter that you accept that interpretation but some words you use here are not in scripture.

Ro 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Ro 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Ro 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

You have added words to romans 2:11,  I am under no scriptural obligation to consider what you say, just because you say it,  with my studies.

That verse does not in any way say  "When it comes to his elect"

Jn 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd.

It is about the elect have a different purpose than the non elect.

Yes, I believe that, too.

The firstfruits are the beginning of the crop, not the end.

23But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

1 Cor 15

I believe I agree with this.

The larger problem with the "Only the Elect go to heaven"  beliefs no matter how they are formed in scripture is that those who claim they are the elect cannot actually in reality be assured that they are.

They only assert the elect doctrine from a position of claiming they are the elect when in reality they could be deceived and only being used by God to bring the real elect to him.

I know I'm one of God's elect children because His Spirit testifies to mine by which I cry out "Abba Father" ( my daddy or papa)( Romans 8:15-16)  Glory to God!! Praise His holy name forever. Thank you Lord for choosing me to be your son!

Amen!

But, there are those who are asleep and dead in Christ.

Unlike some people on this forum who just want to waste time with empty rhetoric..but not you Paul,God bless ya.

I believe both are forever, for they are both from him. By "hell" I am of course not referring to the English word, nor the understanding most have, but the biblical lake of fire that issues forth from him to consume anything not of him, and purify everything of Him.

If he is God of the ages, surely if we are with him in one age, we shall be with him in all ages, even into eternity.

Molly, I do believe you got Chosen with your post above.

Did He respond to it at all? I didn't see anything.

I dare say he will not show that one to his or her friends.

Molly,

Job was a righteous child of God. Unbelievers do not love or seek after God unless they are sovereignly drawn by grace.( Romans 3: 9-18 ; John 6:44)

Hey Everyone,

Jude 13

Wild waves of the sea, splashing up their own shames like foam, wandering stars (fig, planets out of their orbits), for whom the thick gloom of the darkness  (fig, the gloomy hell) has been reserved into the age ( fig, forever).

FIRST -- HELL is not mentioned in this verse,

SECOND -- This is not speaking of individuals, it is speaking of THINGS IN individuals...

Quote from: ChosenofGod37 on August 16, 2009, 07:17:37 PMWhy will some be lost for eternity even though God has the ability to burn away their wickedness?

Where does it say this in this verse CoG?  There is NO MENTION of anyone or anything being "LOST"...  More additions by YOU... +++++++++++++++++

Quote from: ChosenofGod37 on August 16, 2009, 07:17:37 PMThere are people who simply want nothing to do with the Lord Jesus Christ. In spite of the goodness of God, they are determined to pursue their own path apart from God. These are the individuals who will be assigned to eternal darkness.

Any ATHIEST can could have written this... are you an ATHIEST, CoG?

This verse doesn't "assign" anything to "ETERNAL" DARKNESS... AION is a TIME oriented TERM which (time) did not exist in ETERNITY until it was created...

So this "darkness" is NOT "ETERNAL", rather has to do with the realm in which we live, TIME...

Aionios an (indefinite) derivitive of AION appears in verse 7 -- Sodom & Gomorrah suffering the vengence of "eternal [aionios] fire" -- are these cities STILL BURNING, CoG?  :dontknow:

I'm starting to think, ChosenofGod37 that you genuinely, genuinely don't care what the Scriptures actually say, but only about the religion you can put forth and act all red neck about from the KJV abomination that in at least three dozen places totally blasphemes the Blood of Christ.
