The nation of Israel was to be a light to the nations.  It failed miserably.

THE LAST JUDGMENT
"I inquired once, 'Will the dead stand in a line all together and be judged?'  I was told, No; after leaving the body the soul knows everything that has happened to it.  The memory of it all is clear and fresh, and thereby they are judged.  The heavenly light shows the wicked to themselves; they see at once that they cannot live in that fellowship of saints and angels.  They feel so out of place there, they find everything so uncongenial that they ask to be allowed to go away from Heaven.  Men are not turned out of Heaven by God.  Heaven is not a place with walls and gates where you have to ask for a ticket of admission.  The ticket of admission is the life a man has led.

God has saved some people-- albeit temporarily-- from death this side of the grave:  they didn't die, when had not God intervened, they would have died.
God has saved some people-- albeit temporarily-- whose physical bodies had died, and then God resurrected them in their physical bodies.  E.g., Jesus raised Lazarus, and Peter raised Gazelle aka Tabitha.  (Both Lazaras and Gazelle later died this side of the grave.)
Supposedly, some have been saved permanently from dying this side of the grave:  Sadhu Sundar Singh supposedly met a guy in the early 1900s who was a cousin of someone converted by Francis Xavier 400+ years earlier.  Also, Elijah never died.
After dying a physical death, many go on to die an additional death in the afterlife.  It's unpleasant to varying degrees to die in the afterlife.  Because of what Jesus did, many through the centuries have been saved from dying a death in the afterlife:  they never experienced dying in the afterlife.  Because of what Jesus did, even those who have died in the afterlife will at some point be restored to life.

Probably a Canaanite, Tamar had sex with Judah, and gave birth to the twins Perez and Zerah (Gen 38). The family of Perez was spoken highly of in Ruth 4:12. The Messiah had a lineage that included probably-Canaanite Tamar, Jericho-prostitute Rahab, and Moabite Ruth (Mt 1:3, 5)

What was the Messianic hope of Israel in the inter-Testamental age? What kind of Redeemer figure was expected?
A reliable answer is to be found in the least academic, and at the same time most normative, literary form:  prayer. In this respect, two significant sources have been preserved: the Psalms of Solomon, and the ancient synagogal prayer, _the_ prayer (_Tefillah_) _par excellence_, the Eighteen Benedictions. Their content of Messianic belief will be compared, with a view to verification, with that of a Qumran liturgical Blessing and with the rabbinic interpretation of classic Messianic prophecies.
Psalms 17 and 18 of Solomon derive from a first-century BC collection of poems inspired by mainstream Jewish religious ideology with a pronounced anti-Hasmonean political tendency. The title of Psalm 18, as well as verses 6 and 8 (or 5 and 7), mentions God's Anointed who will be raised up on 'the day of mercy and blessing' and will use his 'rod' to instill the 'fear of the Lord' into every man and direct them to 'the works of righteousness'.  This prayer, inspired by chapter 11 of Isaiah, is preceded by the celebrated supplication in Psalm 17 concerning the coming of the 'son of David', described also with words borrowed from the same prophet and explicitly referred to as 'the Anointed'.

4. Messianism. The seventeenth psalm in this collection contains one of the clearest statements of the Jewish Messianic hope to be found in the lit. of that people. The discoveries at Qumran have contributed masses of new information, but much of it is framed in imagery so complex as to be dismaying, whereas the concepts here are found in much simpler language. The Messiah is clearly an individual. He is a son of David, in special fulfillment of God's promise after the apparent destruction of that kingship. While there is no clear statement of his divinity, he is called "the Lord Messiah." (Although commentators believe that this should be read "the Lord's messiah," there is no example of such a reading in these psalms.) Since "the Lord" refers to God only, the implication is clear.

Beyond this, it is clear that the kingdom which will be set up will be no ordinary human one, but a supernatural one wherein all wrongs and all inequities will be conclusively righted. He will purify Jerusalem, destroy the ungodly nations and convict the sinners. He will give the earth to the tribes of Israel and free them from the heathen in their midst. Yet, all this was to be done without implements of war. He would smite the earth with His word and purify the nations with His righteousness. He would care for His people as a shepherd cares for his flocks. This picture is not different from that which may be gained from a reading of canonical Messianic passages, but it is more complete and coherent. Interestingly enough, it perpetuates that ambiguity between conqueror and redeemer which was to confuse so many during Jesus' lifetime.

God has numerous plans, and backup plans upon backup plans.  When a human makes a less-than-ideal choice in a situation, God has a backup plan.  God is so brilliant and so powerful that he can allow humans and angels to make lousy choices and make a huge mess of things, and God can still derive fantastic results from it all.

What bothers me about this verse are the words: "If a man also lie with mankind." You have two very different words for man and mankind. Man is ish and mankind is zakar. Why did it not use the word ish for both man and mankind? Why did it not use the word adam which is the word for a physical man when ish is the word for both a physical and spiritual man? You really have to stretch things to get zakar to be rendered as mankind. You see zakar means remembrance or to memorialize. We get mankind from zakar because we often memorialize man both male and female. But the idea of zakar is a remembrance. What is being remembered in this verse? The word lie is shakab which means to crouch down, have sexual intercourse, copulate, or just sleep in a bed. Literally, the verse reads, if a man lie down with remembrance of laying with a woman the two commit an abomination.

That does not make much sense so we must resort to paraphrasing and the most obvious paraphrase is a man lying with a man like he would do with a woman. But when I think of my former friend and how he was storing up memories, thinking of what it would be like to sleep with these women he was admiring, if a man lie down with remembrance of laying with a woman the two commit an abomination, begins to make sense. The two being his memories and then laying with his wife and thinking of those women. That is not only an abomination to God it is an abomination and insult to his wife, God's precious gift to him. I think this verse is addressing por nography.

Sodom wasn't destroyed because of homosexuality. God accepted the 10 "righteous" men presented by Lot knowing of their incest and homosexual behavior.
God's decision to destroy Sodom came because they wanted to forcibly rape Lot's visitors which was evil on multiple levels.

I make no judgements on homosexuality because of interpretation problems first off, but also because it seems disingenuous to zero in on that activity while ignoring the many other activities that were serious sins and suddenly are not mentioned. Why aren't we still stoning adulterers to death?

I have told many homosexuals I met to confess who and what they are to Jesus, become Christians, and then, when they have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, they can work it out with Him! I do know of one man that went straight, and several others that are married gay Christians. From what I can tell they have the Spirit and are working with Him. Who am I to interfere unless I see them stray?

Sometimes I think Paul's Jewish bias may have come into play in his writings, but perhaps it is the translations. I do notice when the Spirit instructs me to write to someone, it is often not Him telling me word for word what to say. And at other times, I am literally astounded by what I (He) writes, or says, through me!

It's the bad translations.  Paul distinguished between
a) violations of Jesus' command to love your neighbor (e.g., the rape of pre-pubescent boys, which was _very_ common in ancient Rome), and

The dead aren't dead, but rather in their afterlife.  E.g., Hitler is roasting in hell-- he's very much alive.  Numerous people are in hellish realms in the afterlife.  Some e.g. some Eastern Orthodox pray for those in hellish realms.

Sounds good.

Everyone is in. Only a fraction of people, though, are yet aware of that, and have accepted God's forgiveness and welcoming. God isn't holding unforgiveness against anybody, and God welcomes all and has rejected nobody.
God gave angels and humans the ability to make choices, and both chose poorly and consequently made a huge mess.  Yet every human and every angel will eventually gladly choose to return to God.  God is that brilliant.

While seeing in the spiritual realm, Ana Mendez Ferrell went with Jesus to get her sister out of a hellish realm, and in this physical realm, her sister recovered from cancer (the sister subsequently came down again with & recovered from cancer several times, but finally ended up succumbing).
Another individual has with positive results preached to people that had been sent from hell to earth to cause trouble.  Many of those people never returned to hell and instead went to Jesus.
