EW  :thumbsup:  :HeartThrob:

Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are mature: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
(1Co 2:6-10)

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(Eph 1:9-12)

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be mature, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
(Php 3:7-15)

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
(Rev 22:11-15)

Oh to be among the first fruits of life. Today, if I hear His voice, perhaps I will not harden my heart, and I will enter His rest. :o)

About "the woman"..

[..good thing believers don't have to agree on Bible prophecy in order to have conversation! (even affection one for another)] :gsmile:

Do you believe these are cross references to one another?

Rev 12:1 - A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman... being in labor to give birth..

Therefore the Lord Himself gives you a sign, behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel, which means, "God with us". [Isaiah 7:14]
---------------------------------
and this one also.. The Lord God then asked the woman, "What have you done?" ...I will put enmity between you (the serpent guise) and the woman, and between your seed and her-seed, He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." [Genesis 3:13-15]

What I don't understand is .
If there is one Holy Spirit (IMO there IS only one Holy Spirit.)

Some one in let's say in the  1880s preaches to his generation that they had better
prepare them selves for the end of days.
What evidence would that person tie to scriptures to convince

After all his generation did not go through tribulation or did they?

That's a very interesting question.. I sort of think that collapse (which I've come to think of as apocalypse, even though the meaning of apocalypse is to unveil.. I think that's the meaning and purpose of collapse, to unveil) - I think apocalypse began even before Cain slew Abel.. Began the first instant anyone differed from what God almighty thinks, does, considers, etc. HE, being Perfect, to differ with Him in any teeny, tiny way, is to become im-perfect. (The opposite of God/Life)

Therefor it is always apocalypse (or that is, fading, and falling apart, the 2nd Law of Science)

And I'm not sure "the tribulation" always means that final time of tribulation. And if they are birth pangs, each one is worse than the ones before it.

:gsmile: :Chinscratch: If total collapse has not come to pass previously, should this lead us to believe it shall never occur? If we think we recognize a sword, so to speak (rev 20:4b) coming, and have prayed earnestly and sought God's face on the matter, should we try to communicate those signs of it to others.. whether in our own time or as a truth passed on to a following generation? Is there any reason why those interested in Bible prophecy shouldn't have a free flowing exchange of ideas concerning it? Perhaps (like with all things) everyone is right about some things, and everyone is also wrong about some things. Mightn't good conversation act like putting the pieces of a puzzle together? And if there is allegorical meaning, mightn't there also be literal meaning? Are they always mutually separate of one another? It's always one or the other, and never both? Isn't all of life a metaphor? Yet for some reason we are flesh and blood, and this drama of God is being written in flesh and blood. Isn't it?

Yea, if we all agreed.....How would we grow  and learn?

No. I don't think those first two scriptures refer to the same thing, except perhaps in the broadest sense of "principle".

I believe the first is the church, she is giving birth to a man-child, many sons unto glory. She is standing on the moon(law, Israel). She is clothed in the sun(presence of God indwelling, emenating from). IMO, Johns Revelation is the story of the Spirit and the Bride. Let the one who has ears to hear hear what the spirit is saying to the churches. It opens with Christ among the Lampstands holding the Stars in His hands(all leadership is upheld and lifted or lowered by Christ).....He will set up a Lampstand or remove it from its place). John's Revelation closes with the Bride descending from heaven, a new heavens and a new earth, and the Spirit and the Bride saying, COME ALL YE THAT THIRST, DRINK FREELY OF THE WATER OF LIFE.

This is our message. Our calling to the world around us, LOST/APOLLUMI in a dry land where no water is, dying of thirst, choked in dust(man's ways)..... COME, DRINK FREELY. This is the song of the Spirit and the Bride- A SPIRIT RECONCILING THE WHOLE CREATION TO GOD, For FROM HIM AND THROUGH HIM AND TO HIM ARE ALL THINGS TO WHOM BE THE GLORY FOREVER. YAAAAYYYYYYYY!

The second I believe is of Israel(Mary) and Christ- the seed of Abraham and the fulfillment of all the promises of God dwelling among men.

The third is man- her(Eve, natural mother) seed, bruised by the serpent(sin, deception, death) - then crushing the serpents head(man is lifted "higher than the angels"[Hebrews 1&2] through Christ)- New Jerusalem, supernatural mother- mother of the Firstfruits- eventually of all makind.

There is a priesthood coming out of the church/Bride that will eventually reconcile all men to God.

God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself. He has entrusted to us "THE WORD OF RECONCILIATION" and given us the "MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION" in the "SPIRIT OF RECONCILIATION".

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

He that does not gather with me scatters.

I always ask, "Today, are you a gatherer or a scatterer".

The flesh scatters, the spirit gathers.

The carnal mind scatters, the mind of Christ gathers.

The wisdom of God gathers, the wisdom of man scatters.

The wheat is gathered, the tares are burned(scatterred)

The branches that abide are gathered(into Christ the vine) The branches that dry up(do not stay in the Spirit of reconciliation/living water) are cut off and put in piles(debris) to be burned.

I believe all these parables are to believers.

"Now it is time for judgment to begin at the house of God with the elders at Jerusalem"

Notice Jesus sends His angels to gather "out of His kingdom" all that offend. This is to me parallel to, "But Lord, Lord- didnt we prophesy in your name and do many mighty works in your name"?  Depart from me you lawless ones, INTO THE FIRE PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS, I never knew you(You did not let me Come In to you).

This is the fire of 1 Corinthians 3:15- saved but as through fire, suffering the loss of the reward.

BEHOLD I AM COMING QUICKLY AND MY REWARD IS WITH ME. I am He that tries the reins and the hearts. Nothing is hidden in darkness that will not be brought to light. Nothing is hidden from the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

We think the parables of separation and trying and fire and purging were written to sinners, but they were written(imo) to the "children of the kingdom"- NOT TO SHOW US HOW THE WORLD IS JUDGED- To show us how we are judged/discerned.

The word of God is quick and active and sharper than any two edged sword,(separating wheat and chaff) dividing asunder soul and spirit and making manifest the (hidden) thoughts and intentions of the heart. And nothing is hid from the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

"And His eyes were as flames of fire(for burning up the chaff) and His feet like burnished bronze( for treading out the grapes, outside the city)

Every man will be salted with fire.(ALL MANKIND) Every sacrifice(in Abel, then in CHRIST) will be SEASONED(aged matured) in salt(fire/light/ the divine nature/ the spirit of Jesus Christ).

As far as future and present....fulfilled view historical view regarding these things my view is.... YOU MUST FULFILL THESE IN THE PRESENT, to PARTAKE OF THEM IN THE FUTURE.

"Today if you hear His voice harden not your hearts, as they did in the wilderness and SAW MY WORKS(prevented from ENTERING THE INHERITANCE, promised land, Christ in you the hope of glory, MESSIAH MANIFESTING FROM WITHIN, many sons unto glory- overcomers) 40 YEARS. 40 days and nights of a flood to destroy the old kosmos and begin the new. 40 years in the wildernes until EVERY UNBELIEVING MEMBER PERISHES.

Laboring diligently to enter His rest- ceasing from our own works, walking i nworks prepared from the foundation of the world- our inheritance revealed IN THE EARTH- COMING DOWN FROM OUT OF HEAVEN.

:o) I do run on sometimes don't I? LOL

marie glen

perhaps.. "running on" that is, said the pot to the kettle! :laughing7:  but it simply serves to show zeal of the Lord and His Word in the heart!

Now I understand you have the view of the Book of Rev as fulfilled, as being about Jesus and His bride, a spiritual fulfillment. (A fulfillment I'm sure I likely would not disagree with.)

And I am viewing it as physical fulfillment as a narrative and drama about the world. I believe any thing false or built upon false can only crash, whether a small crash concerning smaller things, or calamity concerning things bigger or even the world of man, as a whole..

:o)

Yea, I like to think it is the zeal and enjoyment of exploring the glorious mysteries of God in the word-most of the time anyway.

Let me say that altho I believe that the revelation of the Bride and her Sons is the PRIMARY purpose of John's revelation, it is not the only thing going on in there, of course- and

I see that as both historical and spiritually alive in evry generation "in the now/today of God", so that sages and prophets and disciples of generations past through the last 1900 years would see these same revelations of the discernment and judgment and glory of God revealed in the midst of His people that we would today, else why the injunction, "Blessed is he who keeps the words of this book" and "Do not seal up the vision for the time IS AT HAND".

Yet , at the same, I do believe that is all happening "in this world" and "in this age" so there is prophetic revelation about the history of this age as well.... and it all culminates at the end of the age, when that which we see through the glass darkly will become clear as crystal to us all.

Until then we can discuss and speculate about the historical future vision in John's apocalypse, and what they mean in todays physica,l historical, geopolitical world- but if we miss the revelation to the church in our generation- as believers, imo, we have failed at a fundamental level to understand it or even receive it according to its foremost purposes, "Let the one who has ears to hear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches" and, "The Spirit and the Bride say Come, all you thirsty ones, DRINK FREELY Of THE WATER OF LIFE!"

Isn't all of life a metaphor? Yet for some reason we are flesh and blood, and this drama of God is being written in flesh and blood. Isn't it?

Marie, I am reminded of what my best friend once said, "Life is not either/or, it is either & or."  The message of the Bible is multi-layered, the literal and allegorical and metaphorical all intertwined and inseparable.  The drama being played out here is for the whole creation to see and learn from, and as the Bard said, we are all actors in it.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

Hi eaglesway... I've had quite a day enjoying your "run on's"... I don't consider myself a scholar... but, maybe a perpetual student and your "run ons" really bless me, challenge me, encourage me... I always print your "run on's" lest I miss some treasure... Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us.

OTOH, I "love" your pithy sayings...  MEET, PRAY -- WAIT upon the Lord for the Spirit to teach, lead, multiply, edify.    (quite a 3-step plan!!)

Boston.  Horrible.  LIke a war zone.  People don't realize how bad it is.  Lots of amputee type injuries.  Device was low and sent out a lot of shrapnel.  People were shoulder to shoulder, packed in at the finish line.  First device went off at finish line, so runners turned around and ran in the other direction, second device went off in their path.  Diabolical.  Families were there waiting for their runners.  Children.

I could not find the scriptures that tell us to go out and warn people
that we are the last generation or that we are in the last days.
Aren't we already dead?

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ. 9 For the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily[c] in Christ, 10 and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 You were also circumcised in Him with a circumcision not done with hands, by putting off the body of flesh, in the circumcision of the Messiah.[d] 12 Having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And when you were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses. 14 He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; He triumphed over them by Him.[e]

"I still have many things to tell you, but you can't bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 Everything the Father has is Mine. This is why I told you that He takes from what is Mine and will declare it to you.

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens,[a] the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,[c] 5 made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! 6 Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, 7 so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

THE GOLIATHS IN OUR PATHWAYS (& THE "SMOKY DAY")

It's not always easy.. finding the Quietness.. but as we know, it is in "entering His rest" that the God filled life is fulfilled. Jesus said "the scriptures speak of Me". Jesus, is our rest. Not only does our faith "rest" in the "finished work of Jesus" (we are declared righteous and innocent, setting us free to grow in the Lord, He is the vine, we are the branches). But we rest - in Jesus Himself. "Let God do what seemeth Him good.." (Let God do..)

Reading about King David, while he was still just a shepherd, it says "the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David.." (1 Sam 16:13)

It takes the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost of God) to bring about in our lives the spirit of being an overcomer. As the world heads more and more towards, well, where it is rushing toward, it will require this Spirit all the more so. It's the key to the treasure! And it's the key to overcoming, and to the fruit of the Spirit maturing within us and within our life.

It's also "in His rest" that we most easily hear the still, small voice of God Almighty speaking. ("Be still. And know I am God." Psalm 46:10) And this is the rest which God's people enjoy. And all of us, like the psalmist says, thirst for this stream, as the deer thirsts for running water. Sometimes there are Goliaths in our way. And it's in this Rest of God that we can defeat them and vanquish them from off our path.

Joel prophesied a dark and smoky day.. Keeping with the spirit that the scripture is both literal and metaphor - having a spiritual meaning that lasts always.. As the days mature, the clouds of darkness and deception will become (surely?) thicker and thicker. Believers of the day will need to abide, live, tabernacle (often) in God's Rest, not just for peace and joy, but for survival and perception. (Of course our goal is to always abide in that rest.)

It's the mighty sWord of the LORD which cuts through all things, all clouds, darkness, and the untruth they rest upon. And it's the Spirit of God Almighty which opens our eyes and seals our forehead (to go along with the seal of God on our heart, which cries "abba, Father!" 2 Corinthians 1:22, Galatians 4:6, Ephesians 1:13,14).

"Let God do what seemeth Him good". (1 Samuel 3:18)
Jesus tells us, "my yoke is easy, my burden is light". (Matthew 11:30)

"The works were finished from the foundation of the world.. Let us therefor be diligent to enter that rest.. for we have a great High Priest.. ..therefor come boldly to the throne of peace.." (from Hebrews 4:3,11,14,16)

..and enter His rest.. able to "wait upon God" for and concerning all things.. We are very blessed! :gsmile:

And it's the Spirit of God Almighty which opens our eyes and seals our forehead (to go along with the seal of God on our heart, which cries "abba, Father!" 2 Corinthians 1:22, Galatians 4:6, Ephesians 1:13,14).

Thank you so much for these words of encouragement.  It's taken me awhile to right myself and stand in faith again.   This event in Boston illustrated great evil and great good, something I think we will see more and more of in these end times.  Evil because someone designed a device that would not just kill, but maim and torture.  Good because so many things came together perfectly to mitigate the event.  It happened at a place where there were doctors and nurses already set up in tents with medical supplies to treat runners in distress.   They were on the scene immediately, placing tourniquets, giving intravenous fluids, doing CPR, and whatever was necessary to save lives.  The police and public ran towards the disaster to help however they could.  The five biggest hospitals in Boston were just changing shifts, and the day shift stayed as the night shift was coming in, so they had double trauma teams ready to go.  The victims were close to all these hospitals and arrived in minutes.  Everything conspired to save lives.  They meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.  The low loss of life is nothing short of a miracle.  So here is a hymn, written by Martin Luther,  that was given to me today, and that sums it up for me.

A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevaling.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of Darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4. God's word above all earthly powers,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours,
thru him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill;
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

For since He Himself was tested and has suffered, He is able to help those who are tested.

Thank God for those who dedicate their lives to easing the sufferings of others.  :Pray:

Yes indeed. "Blessed is that man, who when his master comes, finds him so doing." The true ark of safety. Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give alms in secret, He who sees in secret will reward you openly.

So, I"ve been up all night listening to a Boston police scanner.  It started with the murder of an MIT campus police, then a wild car chase to Watertown, 4 miles away, with the suspects throwing grenades at police and returning fire.   Then we found out that they were the Marathon bomber suspects.  There was a huge shootout in this sleepy little town, Watertown,  where nothing ever happens.  Then one suspect was taken into custody and one, the white hat, escaped.  They are still searching for the white hat.  Nine towns plus the city of Boston are on lockdown--a form of martial law--which they are calling 'shelter in place.' Four hundred thousand people told to stay home behind locked doors.  Businesses and schools closed, colleges closed, public transportation closed, --it's like it is in the middle of a blizzard.  Officials very concerned about something in Boston even though the white hat is thought to be within a small perimeter in Watertown.  This whole week has been the week from hell.  Another policeman was wounded in the shootout last night and taken to hospital.

Oh, and..

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
