Sounds to me like maybe your faith is misplaced. That's unfortunate.

Peter could walk on water when he kept his focus in the right place. He didn't begin to sink until he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the waves.

I don't like the circumstances any more than you do, but my faith is not in the things of this world, regardless of how Godly their origin.

here in my speck of the woods more than 80% of genetically modified crops failed this year...this is devastating to the local economy and many farmers...commercial as well as sub-sistence farmers...some have been in debt for a long time and will now lose their farms, the gm modified crops was supposed to yield better results and save them from bankrupcy...

now, my question...is the rest of mankind just allowing this to happen saying "these are earthly things, not spiritual", or "its God's job to sort it out" or "Jesus will come again and sort everything out"...is this what the modern church is preaching? do we not take seriously our role as curators of God's garden, is this the way we ought to treat God's creation given to us? is this the earth we are leaving for the peacemakers (those who'd be called the children of God) to inherit? closer to home, is this the earth you want to leave to your children?
and saying all we need is faith...haven't you heard that faith without works is DEAD?!

 :cloud9: Per the assassinations; I pieced together some things from reading an 800+ page volume on J. Edgar Hoover,some other readings years ago, and a guest speaker at college, an expert in the study of it. I had never been able to understand what made the vast number of people get on board with this plan, from the top to the "lowly" Dallas police department. What made this appear sane to an 'average Joe', in other words, with nothing to gain politically?

IMO my answer was in reading about the showdown between Kennedy and the Russians over the missile crisis. Jack and Bobby were in a meeting with the Russian diplomat in which he told him if the Russians did not pull their missiles off of Cuba, irregardless of what they did with them, that he was not going to live in an American with Russian missiles 90 miles off it's shore, and he would himself push the button beginning a nuclear war.

Apparently, the Russian turned white, and wanted to know if he was serious, and Bobby assured him they were. As it turns out, they only appeared to comply because some missiles stayed there anyway, but this set up a chain of events once it leaked out, that caused their deaths. At the time, there was tremendous fear of the bomb in this country bordering on mass hysteria. People were building bomb shelters in their back yards.

So this fear was used by the vice president, the CIA, the secret service, and on down, to make it look justified to eliminate 2 men that had agreed to press the button without us being under attack. Then it all made sense that they could use this fear of nuclear war being initiated, to manipulate people that ordinarily would have never considered such an atrocity. You need only follow the careers of the people involved after that to see who profited from it. My :2c: Blessings.....

State officials have offered a lung cancer patient the option of having the Oregon Health Plan, set up in 1994 to ration health care, pay for an assisted suicide but not for the chemotherapy prescribed by her physician.

The story appears to be a happy ending for Barbara Wagner, who has been notified by a drug manufacturer that it will provide the expensive medication, estimated to cost $4,000 a month, for the first year and then allow her to apply for further treatment, according to a report in the Eugene Register-Guard.

But the word from the state was coverage for palliative care, which would include the state's assisted suicide program, would be allowed but not coverage for the cancer treatment drugs.

"To say to someone, we'll pay for you to die, but not pay for you to live, it's cruel," Wagner told the newspaper. "I get angry. Who do they think they are?"

She said she was devastated when the state health program refused coverage for Tarceva, the drug her doctor ordered for treatment of her lung cancer.

We have been warning for years that this was a possibility in Oregon," said the "Bioethics Pundit" on the Bioethics blog. "Medicaid is rationed, meaning that some treatments are not covered. But assisted suicide is always covered."

I believe God's going to fix everything in the end [Ultimate Reconciliation/Victorious Gospel of Jesus Christ - all enemies His footstool, God All in All].   My thoughts are what may occur in the meantime.  I think some of us here at TM may believe it's only getting better from here, with things building to the Kingdom;  some of us may see things more as the "great falling away", "will He find faith on the earth", and the earth will be cleansed with fire before the new heaven and new earth;  and some surely have mixtures of various other POVs.

In general, I think these are upsetting times for a lot of folks, and is at the very least an opportunity for us to share with others, both our financial resources and the message of Life.
