Title: I saw the lake of fire
Post by: marie glen on January 11, 2016, 06:24:31 PM
I saw the lake of fire. It was red and yellow (red and orange).. it was liquid.. spiritual liquid.. It was the fire of regret and remorse. I'm thinking our own measure of it could squash us like a bug. Imagine His carrying it all when He was upon that cross.

"..as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up" - John 3:14 (NKJ)
.."that the world through Him might be saved.." verse 17 (all)

"And the Lord said unto Moses, make thee a fiery serpent (Young's Literal - "a burning [serpent]") and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live." Numbers 21:8 (KJ) ..And Moses made a serpent of brass and put it on a pole.."

John 12:32, Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."

("He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities." - Isaiah 53:11) ("the many" - Amplified Version)

I hadn't realized... did Jesus bear the lake of fire on His shoulders? when He was upon the cross? (and in the garden?)

He bore/as High Priest/two onyx stones bearing the name of of 6 tribes of Israel on each shoulder.

black stone 'nay' white stone yeah...........

still connected to Goats lots..one burnt on the altar/the Lord's goat..and one the scapegoat..that perishes in the wilderness

never to enter the Holy city .

the Lord in the fiery furnance  in Daniel's day. Judges 13;20  for when it come to pass that when the flame went upward to heaven

from off the altar..that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the alter. WE SHALL HAVE MADE READY A KID FOR THEE.

I AM in the burning bush.

Judas..satan entered into his heart to betray Jesus[Azazel's goat] Judas snakebit.........hung on a tree...serpent's head crushed

when Judas repented. nothing that enters a mans mouth defiles him..it passeth out into the sewer. what comes from his heart

defileth him..so we have the serpent lifted up to betray/strike the heel..and the son of God lifted up...........the Lord's lot ascends

in the flames of the altar[kid prepared][if the strongman had knew]

not one is lost but the son of perdition=mind of serpent is crushed

that his rider shall fall backwards[I AM He..and they fell backwards.] I have waited for thy salvation,O'Lord.

Judas of the tribe of Dan..with satan having put in his heart to betray Jesus.

Oh..  it was a within sort of thing, during prayer.. in my mind only  (but I like the title, catchy) but it did feel very real, like a real observation... not a 'vision' or anything.. just during prayer came to mind..

I think if he did, it would show that the LOF = sin, since Jesus bore our sins on the Cross. Isaiah 53:6  :2c:

...if.. the LOF is the burning of remorse/shame.. and He bore our sins (that of course, we do know). And of course, in Rev chapter 20, those who are cast into the LOF are those not believing/not yet having their names in the (book of) life...

Believers "having part in the LOF" will feel the remorse of not having lived in His will..? Seems different from the Rev 20 "cast into LOF"

Just saying.. I'm thinking the LOF is the burning of regret and remorse, which acts upon the heart / purifies...

I think it's an interesting thought, but doesn't the Bible literally say that Jesus bore our sins? That would mean that if he bore the Lake of Fire, that seems to me that would mean the LOF is sin  that causes the remorse or shame. Like, the cause of the remorse would be tied together with the remorse itself.

:cloud9: I just realized I probably was shown it twice. Though the other time it looked just like lava, everywhere......it was all I could see. But He gave me at that time that it was His love, the overflowing scourge that makes whole everything that it touches, the element(s)al things having been overcome, they melt with a fervent heat. It wasn't a "bad" thing; it will "burn" off the chaff till all that is left is like Him. My  :2c: Blessings....

I think God does everything through the lense of love ultimately and generally, but I do think it is important to note that the LOF in scripture is called the wine of God's wrath (Revelation 14). In other words, yes it's a judgment brought forth from a God of love, but there is, I believe, and implicit warning in scripture to avoid it (ie it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.)

, I so love what you have shared Marie !!!!   God bless you  ,  you have really been a  blessing    :friendstu:

Hebrews 12 1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us,

let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Against Himself   !!  Its sounds  like death and Life  , Him being the Light and Life becoming the Lord of the dead and the living making alive to me !!!

I see it as infinitely better than the religious version. It's not the result of pressing in for the high calling, but it's not complete annihilation and eternal torment, either. Blessings....

Yes I also do too, Cardinal  I'm just sayin

Revelation 14
9 Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

When I told my pastor a long time ago that I thought the Lake of Fire was the burning love of God, he had a few things to say about the wrath of God, as detailed above. I was there to explain that I didn't mean a warm and fuzzy expression of that love, but that even God's wrath was founded on love.

But, if an ET apologist were here, he would probably have the same objection. And I am just saying that, while I believe God's judgements are founded on love, I believe the LOF is clearly an expression of God's wrath and that I think clarification about that helps the UR cause.

I personally believe that the maddening wine of Babylon's immoralities is connected to the LOF in terms of sin leading to tormented lives, but I still believe that such a judgment (exile) is founded on love.  :2c:

I totally and completly agree with you Seth  :iagree:

If you consider the  law is the ministration of  death  ,    as the carnally minded [is death ] and JESUS CHRIST  IS BEING  SPIRITUALLY MINDED

and this is the  enemies of the cross  , that have  not  crucified the old man  of sin   yet  , but are still dead  in sin  , just as the world still is also

This is the  hypocrisy   , they are still crushing the new grapes [clusters on the VINE  , I am the vine you are the branches without me you can do nothing
this is the sinners against Himself ,   in the body of Christ  but are dead  still  , making Him the Lord of the dead and living
These useless branches are to be lopped off and   ready to be  burned  , only to grow back   as a new shoot  , just as  King Neb was given in Daniel
this is the cutting off of Babylon    Jeremiah's  prophecy Babylon's Fall is Certain
Severe Judgment against Babylon
...5For neither Israel nor Judah has been forsaken By his God, the LORD of hosts, Although their land is full of guilt Before the Holy One of Israel. 6Flee from the midst of Babylon, And each of you save his life! Do not be destroyed in her punishment, For this is the LORD'S time of vengeance; He is going to render recompense to her. 7Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of the LORD, Intoxicating all the earth. The nations have drunk of her wine; Therefore the nations are going mad.

...15"Raise your battle cry against her on every side! She has given herself up, her pillars have fallen, Her walls have been torn down. For this is the vengeance of the LORD:

Take vengeance on her; As she has done to others, so do to her. 16"Cut off the sower from Babylon And the one who wields the sickle at the time of harvest; From before the sword of the oppressor They will each turn back to his own people And they will each flee to his own land.

The slaughter of the innocent   , Jesus   proves this with strong contrast   in Saul to Paul and new name and white  stone , clean heart  /spirit   in Judgment

on the road to Damascus  , when He  proved  Saul  was killing/crushing  the new converts  in   Christ [ the new grapes  on the new wine covenant in the Vine  ]   newly in   His body  , Eat my Body and drink my  blood that you might have life in you ....

and called it kicking against the pricks      ,,   fighting against JESUS CHRIST NEW AND LIVING WAY

sinners against Himself   , and showed  paul those many things he must suffer  for Jesus Christ names sakes ,    showing us as you judge so shall you be judged  walking a  mile or two in the other side    ,  little ones shoes ....

YES loved what you shared Sheila  ,  this is the same sting of death , judging !!
Death for you but life for us !!      Jesus the  righteous  Judge would  judge the world in righteouness

I find the  HOLY CITY [ 12 Foundations stones and the   twelve  walls [gates ] building   the  holy city    in these .......
  Original Twelve
1. Simon - Naphtali
2. Andrew - Naphtali
3. James - Zebulun
4. John - Zebulun
5. Philip - Asher
6. Bartholomew - Issachar
7. Thomas - Judah
8. Matthew - Issachar
9. James - Manasseh
10. Thadius - Judah
11. Simon the Zealot - Ephraim
12. Judas Iscariot - Dan

But   see  that Judas/Dan /judges   was  cut off  and  by the oath  [Beersheba ]    and not mentioned   at all the tribes  in Revelation 7  as sealed

This is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY

but Benjamin   was  Saul /Paul[of the tribe of Benjamin ]   son of the right hand  the little one  ,   Paul means small or little ,  taken his place     chosen of Jesus Christ  and  given the  silver cup in His bag !!      Gen  44 Benjamin and the Silver Cup , silver is the righteous arms/works  of God  in the true Image of God

1 Then he commanded his house steward, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack. 2"Put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his money for the grain.

Paul sure does  speak of the grains in 1Cor 15 !!   :HeartThrob:

I am  thrilled !!!

Lake of Fire:

Here are my thoughts on that subject. Seth mentioned the Love of God as a pastor had shared with him. My thoughts run along this line as well. We hear about the "Seas" as humanity's multitudes. We see out of our belly shall flow"Rivers of Living Water. He makes his ministers "Flames of Fire".

Imagine a people purified with no mixture just the pure Love of God and are not we all ministers and as such Flames of Fire
(Holy Fire). Imagine a large multitude of these "Flames" might appear as a LAKE OF FIRE. That purity would surely convince the most hardened hearts since they could not run anywhere for safety to shelter their unbelief with false doctrines of man. The LOVE would be INTENSE. :dsunny: AND LOVE NEVER FAILS  I'm thinking they'd come out WELL DONE!

Just my thoughts when reading that scripture passage.  :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

I was thinking just this morning, musing and comparing the LOF with how the "elements will melt with a fervent heat" which was thinking that to be the ages final consummation clearing the way for the "new heavens and new earth, wherein righteousness is to dwell".

(Righteousness because of how all rational creatures of heaven and earth having been thoroughly purged through deep heartfelt repentance fire, and so very thoroughly convinced through experience and witness, that even one tiny speck of sin/imperfection/wandering from God can only ever lead to horror! And without God's intervention, annihilation in a self destructive, truth revealing wisp of smoke.)

...and if "death" will be no more.. how surely that will include the 2nd death..

I also wonder.. lake of fire' as Jesus is returning... (one created by man's own doings) - "He comes with angels and in fire".. and where on the planet that is most likely (these days hereabouts) to occur there is all that oil under the surface.. just musing..

:iagree: I was only thinking of the pressure and weight of the sins of the world.. and how He bore the shame.. so to say He bore the LOF likely not accurate, but He bore each of our measure/pressure of it.. the weight of it upon Him.. or we would be 'squashed like bugs' under the weight of it.. (w/o His intervention, the wages of sin is death, I believe would be annihilation.. squashed like a bug  His carrying the load tempers it so it is purifying rather than destroying?

When you share God's Love and revelation of UR with the legalistic religious they often recoil because those truths burn like fire on their pet ET doctrine's. That is a torment in their mind - that struggle to hold onto the lie of ET as opposed to the Truth. That is what I see and I see that LOF just as a torment to the scoffer and un-beliver. He saves His Wrath for His Enemies and I see not people but the Lies They Believe Contrary To Truth as His Enemies.

[Daniel 8;10] our time....a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him....the judgement was set and the books were opened....

He baptizes with Holy spirit and fire.  the water of the word..cleanses....the blood cleanses...the holy spirit cleanses/sanctifies

and the fire cleanses.     It is all a work of His spirit......seeing the fire/work portion of His Holy spirit pertains to judgement...

and God's judgements being revealed in the earth...His opening the scriptures unto us..the final cleansing and offering on the altar

that is pleasing aroma unto Him.   we are in the time Daniel prophesied about.

fiery coals on the lips..for those of unclean speech=our testimony that is in part..coming to a greater fullness of Him.....

we have putting forth tender leaves.....buds....flowers and then full ripe fruit.

this is more about the sanctifying work of the Holy spirit[which overcomes the last enemy death] in His people..and is part

even the final part of His sanctification....a seeing face to face...yes..your eyes will be fire...and you will be a flame......

in Enoch  with the twinkling of His eye......the delightful nature is given......and Enoch become as one of His glorious ones....

water softer than water fire hotter then lightening[as lightening east to west] and harder then rock..as electrum......

when the elements[al] things melt[why do you say taste not touch not etc]

no weapon formed against you will succeed because the Lord God is your maker. we are in the time where no-one will be seeing through

a glass darkly..and you will know what you are....and the whole earth that has been groaning for the revealing of the sons of God

shall rejoice.

Yes! Baby you are a fire work!   [who can dwell with continual burnings]

Since Jesus said that his death is the judgement of the world, I actually think that the Cross and the LOF are unified in purpose, the death of sinfulness through repentance.

Yes it sure is ..  the Cross of Jesus Christ is the  pivotal point  and  promise to set the world on fire and it is  metaphorically /spiritually speaking

last   chapter of  Malachi 4 in old testament on what John the baptist  represents "repentance " the kingdom of heaven is at hand ,  coming in power [ CROSS]

   Malachi 4 (NASB)

Final Admonition
4 "[a]For behold, the day is coming, (A)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be (B)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C)set them ablaze," says the Lord of hosts, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branch."

2 "But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with (healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (F)skip about like calves from the stall. 3 You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing," says the Lord of hosts.

4 "Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.

5 "Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. 6 He will  restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse."

THE SCROLL  and the   curse is     Zech 5(NASB)

The Flying Scroll
5 Then I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, there was a flying scroll. 2 And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits." 3 Then he said to me,

"This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the whole land; surely everyone who steals will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears will be purged away according to the writing on the other side.

4 I will make it go forth," declares the Lord of hosts, "and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and consume it with its timber and stones."

[/u]

God is a consuming fire  of love  .... what rises up out of the ashes Beauty  for ashes

   Isaiah 612To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn, 3To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes,

The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.

So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

4Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, They will raise up the former devastations;

And they will repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations....

:cloud9: Yes, I had that thought come to me before too, about the ministers of flames being the lake of fire! Lake means "haven" also, like a safe haven for a boat in a storm. Blessings...

I am sure others have pointed it out before but the bible often talks about God being fire or fire emanating from God or associated with God.

I do believe that it is spiritual in nature as God is spirit.

Hebrews 12:29
our God is a consuming fire

Revalation 2:18
"And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this:

Deuteronomy 4:36
"Out of the heavens He let you hear His voice to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire.

Exodus 3:2
The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed.

Leviticus 9:24
Then fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

Acts 2:3-4
And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. (Holy Spirit)

2 Samuel 22:9
"Smoke went up out of His nostrils, Fire from His mouth devoured; Coals were kindled by it.

Exodus 13:21
The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

Malachi 3:2-3
"But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. "He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

1 peter 1:7
so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1 Corinthians 3:13
each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.

Ezekiel 22:20
'As they gather silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into the furnace to blow fire on it in order to melt it, so I will gather you in My anger and in My wrath and I will lay you there and melt you.

Numbers 31:23
everything that can stand the fire, you shall pass through the fire, and it shall be clean, but it shall be purified with water for impurity. But whatever cannot stand the fire you shall pass through the water.

Luke 3:16 John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Daniel 7:9
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.

Even Jesus is called the light of the world:

John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Back in Jesus's time, any light that light up the darkness was fire (no electricity, but even electricity is similar to fire) The sun and stars are basically super hot fire. The source of their energy is nuclear reactions going on deep inside the stars.

Since God is love and he is described as spiritually being fire, I think it is biblical to say that the lake of fire is somehow God's love.

I also agree that bodies of water in the bible represent people so somehow the lake of fire may be the believers and God.

For anyone who says that regret, shame, remorse etc are not horrible and don't cause wailing and gnashing of teeth...that person must not have had much experience with feeling regret. It is painful to realize the true extent of your actions. It consumes people. Especially in Asian cultures like in japan, people commit suicide because they are tormented by their shame.

But this true realization in the presence of our loving God is the first step to reconciliation.

We all have felt it haven't we? And what we felt must pale in comparison to what someone will feel who lived a whole lifetime immersed in darkness and sin.

Think about when you are stumbling around in the dark and someone flips on the light switch. You momentarily can't see but then everything is clear. If you are in darkness for just a moment there isn't much adjusting your eyes have to do, but when you have been in darkness for a while it takes longer. Someone who lived their life underground and then came to the surface would be confused, scared and think they'd gone blind. It would take them a long time to get used to the light for sure!

**edit: I'm smiling now re-reading all the posts and seeing all of our similar posts.  :dsunny: :HeartThrob: :iagree: with them all!

:flamebreath: and this one seems somewhat appropriate

In my opinion this Psalm(107) describes the lake of fire in its essence.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.

Some wandered in desert wastelands,
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
They were hungry and thirsty,
and their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.

He led them by a straight way
to a city where they could settle.(Zion and the Jerusalem of heaven Heb 12))

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love(Rev 5:13, after Phil 2:9,10 & 1 Cor 15:21-28)
and his wonderful deeds for mankind(Col 1:15-20),
for he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.

Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness,
prisoners suffering in iron chains,
because they rebelled against God's commands
and despised the plans of the Most High(Jude verse 6).
So he subjected them to bitter labor;
they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,
and broke away their chains.

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
for he breaks down gates of bronze
and cuts through bars of iron.

Some became fools through their rebellious ways
and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.
They loathed all food
and drew near the gates of death(Heb 6: 1-8).

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave(1 Cor 15:26-28).
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
Let them sacrifice thank offerings
and tell of his works with songs of joy.

Some went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
they were at their wits' end(1 Cor 1:26; Obadiah 1:9).

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people
and praise him in the council of the elders.

He turned rivers into a desert,
flowing springs into thirsty ground,
and fruitful land into a salt waste,
because of the wickedness of those who lived there.
He turned the desert into pools of water
and the parched ground into flowing springs;
there he brought the hungry to live,
and they founded a city where they could settle.
They sowed fields and planted vineyards
that yielded a fruitful harvest;
he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased,
and he did not let their herds diminish.
Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled
by oppression, calamity and sorrow;
he who pours contempt on nobles
made them wander in a trackless waste.
But he lifted the needy out of their affliction
and increased their families like flocks.
The upright see and rejoice,
but all the wicked shut their mouths.
Let the one who is wise heed these things
and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.(James 5:7-11)

A wonderful flow of all   the posts  :HeartThrob:  Amen !!!!

I do believe suffering [taking up our cross and following Jesus ]   eventually  bears the fruit of   compassion in us all  and the LIGHT /TRUTH   reveals it   openly ,to those  given eyes to see it  ,in the  right moment     that always changes  our  course and  inner  being and does effect others  in a negative or positive way

Depending on HOW  they can handle the truth   as offensive  to them   or as  helpful   to them  , Truth can have a sting ,and be very painful to accept .[it is  repentance , the changing of your mind ]    to me its always been the  mind of the beast/carnal  or mind of Christ / spiritual   , Christ means  anointed , to smear the oil  , Oil is  the Holy Spirit , spoken as  of the olive trees  in scriptures    ,  compared to  young olive trees , its all so connected   ...Gods garden and planted trees [Psalms ]

Being hot[ passionate]  or cold[ deadness ]   or lukewarm [comfortable ]  seems to be the    3  main conditions   of the  human  experience   driven by our hearts desires

Remembering the'' passion of the Christ'' and had to look into that word lol  biblically     and it was found in the CROSS

The base word being  meaningful  spiritually Strong's G2476 - histēmi
ἵστημι
Transliteration

Pronunciation

Part of Speech
verb
Root Word (Etymology)
A prolonged form of a primary stao {stah'-o} (of the same meaning, and used for it in certain tenses)

to cause or make to stand, to place, put, set

to bid to stand by, [set up]

in the presence of others, in the midst, before judges, before members of the Sanhedrin;

to place

to make firm, fix establish

to cause a person or a thing to keep his or its place

to stand, be kept intact (of family, a kingdom), to escape in safety

to establish a thing, cause it to stand

to uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything

to set or place in a balance

to weigh: money to one (because in very early times before the introduction of coinage, the metals used to be weighed)

to stand

to be of a steadfast mind

Jesus set the  world  on fire that the HOLY OIL  would burn   hot and on fire for God ...

Seeing the word passion  , it made  much more sense

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Spirit had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Act 1:3       To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

passion Strong's G3958 - paschō
πάσχω
Transliteration
paschō
Pronunciation
pä'-skhō (Key)

Part of Speech
verb
Root Word (Etymology)
Apparently a root word

to be affected or have been affected, to feel, have a sensible experience, to undergo

in a good sense, to be well off, in good case

in a bad sense, to suffer sadly, be in a bad plight

of a sick person
THIS is what helped me most and worth sharing it      in my opinion , to those whom remember  ,   Jesus promises  to bring to our remembrance   the SPOKEN WORD
When you look at the Cross  by human  perspectives , it seems cruel that the FATHER   would make His  innocent    and only one of a kind son suffer    for evil

and making   him look so weak  before the scoffers and  hateful  hearts   , to suffer  this kind of cruel death , so helpless  and so innocent  , NOT deserving  to be treated   so  painfully    wronged !!

I remember Peter  telling  Jesus and being so adamant  hard against     Jesus going to the cross  to die for the world     and Jesus told him  , he was an adversary against Gods desire   and only tasting the things that be of men   and NOT GOD   at all ...
That was an eye opener         , showing Peters carnal mind   as beastly , going by what it feels and senses  as good  or evil   , it was going to benefit  him that Jesus stay with  them and NOT LEAVE  them ever

But the CROSS of Jesus Christ    was to set   the new covenant and  NEW world in place  , and a complete  pivotal  turning it   ALL around   ...

DEATH was going to be  defeated by LIFE    !!   Death could no longer reign  as  king or ruler over  men's hearts  , JESUS CHRIST  made a way   to take death and swallow it up in VICTORY        , Giving all of mankind  grace  ,  a gift of Life    though the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD BY THE WORD made flesh
All things new were  put in place   the moment HE begun to reign in the hearts of mankind  , Life over death

Jesus promised  an abundant life in the here and now and would not have to wait to literally die to receive  an inheritance   ,
It is my faith,  that all that died in faith   were  risen in CHRIST   at the moment HE  TOOK THE VICTORY OVER  DEATH     ...  DEFEATING IT   becoming apart of His body    that come out of Him    from the very foundation of the old world  and was scattered  throughout  the world and times and ages    the Bride /church  and   His Head /Authority    is ruling over all  with God the Father    [of the 12 tribes  foundation / walls the apostles ]   and the  adding to it daily

and we all  rise and fall   even now   ,  some are  seated with Christ in heavenly places  in the SPIRIT and truth       and some are in a place of torment till the Lord comes to deliver them out of the pits of despair  and darkness ....

I do believe it is a very spiritual   journey    that we have only begun to   taste and touch and feel with our  being  , being awakened out of   the sleep of death .
where  the sin sickness and sadness and death are here and   are a  very present   evil  ,A  true vexing of  / over and against   , the    Holy Spirit  of Life working  in us  .

Psalm 107! ...I agree!

Quote..."desert wastelands..

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love

He heals our wasteland, both personal and collective!

I think one of the things about the lake of fire is it's natural law.. "..He subjected them to bitter labor, they stumbled, and there was no one to help"

Quote"(they cried unto the Lord) and
he saved them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,

...His love endures forever.

He turned rivers into a desert,
flowing springs into thirsty ground,
and fruitful land into a salt waste,
because of the wickedness of those who lived there.
He turned the desert into pools of water
and the parched ground into flowing springs;
there he brought the hungry to live,
and they founded a city where they could settle.
They sowed fields and planted vineyards
that yielded a fruitful harvest;
he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased,
and he did not let their herds diminish.
Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled
by oppression, calamity and sorrow;
he who pours contempt on nobles
made them wander in a trackless waste.
But he lifted the needy out of their affliction
and increased their families like flocks.
The upright see and rejoice,
but all the wicked shut their mouths.
Let the one who is wise heed these things
and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.(James 5:7-11)

Yeah, I agree, Psalm 107 I is pretty much how I see it too.

Lamentations 3:32
Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.

 :cloud9: Sorry but I can't resist.... :offtopic:

Mine and my kid's all time favorite.....my ex-husband hated our cat, but our little boys loved it. Someone dumped her out as a kitten and you know what happened. They adopted her with much begging. They couldn't say Fluff right so she became "Furloof". So she had long hair, was a weird looking calico, with one side of her face black and the other orange.

So anyway; she always slept on the bed at our feet and he came in one night and threw her across the room for no reason. The next morning at 6am I'm in the kitchen fixing his breakfast, and I  hear him turning the air blue over the cat and I can't figure out what's got him so worked up already. I go in and he's holding the slacks to a suit he had laid on the chair that night before, to wear to work this particular morning, cussing a blue streak.

His navy blue slacks had a dinner size plate of cat hair all rubbed over it, like she had rolled around on them all night to get back at him for throwing her off the bed (she probably did), and he's yelling at me, "Just look at these! They've got hair all over this side!"

I said, deadpanning to save cat's life, "I KNOW honey, isn't it horrible? Just imagine how poor Furloof feels; she's LITERALLY covered with it!"

And I turned to go back into kitchen after seeing the dumbfounded look on his face. I heard him quietly laughing to himself as he got another pair of slacks on. He never said another word about it.

Carry on......blessings.....

(and in the garden?)

don't know but thank God the Lake of Fire is the second death (Greek for 'second' is 'deuteros' = 2nd part) or the second part of death and ultimately will be abolished when it's no longer required. Praise God !.

I do believe when we look at Jesus Christ as a man  we sure do wonder like that

But if you look at Jesus Christ as the WORD OF   GOD    made flesh , you can  certainly see how all those   before   Him

and with Him and are going to be   ,   endured  and is  enduring    the fire
Jesus said buy  of ME ,  the gold  tried in the fire
For me it is By the TRUTH  TRIED IN THE FIRE   , HE IS THE WAY TRUTH AND LIFE   ,,,  This is the truth  purified by the consuming fire of God Spirit

I always wondered why Jesus said       Being the Lord / Master  of harvest

Look out   in the fields  the heads are WHITE

John 4 ...34Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. 35"Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest '?

Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.

36"Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together....

When we  look at Jesus / WORD OF GOD    we can see that    those of old   sowing  seed and   harvesters of the field bore the heat of the day    ,     and it was Hot with judgment    and turns one white   , when you  take the ashes from something  burned up with great heat    you get  white  ashes

as these  also

Matt 6 ...29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

30"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'...

I can see the struggle and suffering   from the beginning as the days of old  as   GODS WORD  being fulfilled    , the furnace of affliction and the trials of our faith

we are no different  than they  were  under the law   , till Christ comes ,and  that anointing  making all things new and alive .
Israel's Stubbornness  Isaiah
...9"For the sake of My name I delay My wrath,

And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.

10"Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.

11"For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.

Those of  old and long  standing bore the heat of the day ...  JESUS SAID ,  THE IS THE WORD OF GOD PROCEEDING OUT OF HIS MOUTH ,   JESUS never spoke of his own  thoughts, words  only  the FATHERS voice .

Matt 20  parable    The Parable of the Vineyard Workers

...11"When they received it, they grumbled at the landowner,

12saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.'

13"But he answered and said to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius?...[SAME WAGE ]

the 1st son   , whom   said  no  , but repented  and did as commanded   bearing the Word and heat of the day [  all the law and prophets]

and those  whom said they would DID  not!   are those religious leaders of Israel

TWO SONS ONE Matthew 21:28-32New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Parable of Two Sons
28 "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said,

Son, go work today in the vineyard.' 29 And he answered, 'I will not'; but afterward he regretted it and went.

30 The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, 'I will, sir'; but he did not go.

31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They *said, "The first." Jesus *said to them, "Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him;

but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.

John the baptist      symbolizes all    those    sent   , beaten  killed and   suffered great resistance against the WORD OF GOD , that anointing,  spoken in them  to   Israel   from the beginning   , even when Cain slew Abel    , same blood shed

Heat of the DAY  ,  that day  and that time   the righteous abel     Luke 11 , Hebrews 11

Woes to Pharisees and Experts in Law

...50so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation,

51from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God;

yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.'

52"Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering."...

These Are  those whom    THE HEAT IS the lake of fire  is reserved  and anyone like them ,  in my understanding as of now ...   as they Judged so shall they BE JUDGED  IN RIGHTEOUSNESS      humbling   them   as to white hot ash  and purified in the fire

Daniel 11 The Tyranny of the Western King

...34"Now when they fall they will be granted a little help, and many will join with them in hypocrisy.

35"Some of those who have insight will fall, in order to refine, purge and make them pure until the end time;

because it is still to come at the appointed time.

36"Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods;

and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is decreed will be done........

For me ..... the Lake of Fire "IS" the Baptism of Fire ..... the Baptism of the Holy Spirit ..... the purification process ..... the testing by fire (a touchstone)

It is why the second death (second part) of death has no power over those who have already gone through it ..... already received it

the first part of death is the death of the nature (death of the Adam nature) which is also the first part of resurrection, because it has to die in order for it to be resurrected ..... so we are talking about the soul, the death of the old soul ..... which we know to be soul for soul ..... or IOW life for life

the first part of resurrection now being the death of the Adam nature now in turn brings about the inheritance ..... the giving of life ..... and when we understand that they are one in the same, we come to understand that the giving (increase) of life is the death (decrease) of death .... which we know Christ did on the cross ..... He put death to death

It is the finished work of Christ in us ..... His physical example is what we will all participate in spiritually ...... if not on this side of Jordan it will take place on the other side ..... and by the glory of God, all will be saved, all will be baptized in fire and when all, there will no longer be a need for it for "it is accomplished" what the Father started to do from the beginning ..... that being to have all of mankind baptized in fire

..you know I was thinking about ashes just this morning when I cleaned some out of our woodstove.. how fine and soft they are and like you said when burned the most intensely they end up like white powder..

Revelation 20:6 (niv)
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
   (  :cloud9: )

Revelation 20:14 (niv)
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

Concordant Literal Version - Revelation 21:8
Yet the timid, and unbelievers, and the abominable, and murderers, and paramours, and enchanters, and idolaters, and all the false--their part is in the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

Revelation 2:11 (niv)
Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.
Young's Literal Translation
He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: He who is overcoming may not be injured of the second death.

I wonder if today He would see His sheep as being scattered.. in this day of "war with the saints" which of course has always been.. "will tire out the saints.."

who are scattered about as sheep with no shepherd..

..whereas the sheep should be fully armored and armed.. I am just now wondering if UR could be the lock for that armor..

because faith / truth burns so brightly and UR really fans those flames! Faith becomes nailed down more than ever.

..with the armor on and firmly in place, the darts and arrows of the accuser who accuses night and day, and the arrows of mankind's so-called authorities.. both of ET and also of man's newest religion, a-theism - taught and proclaimed as truth and proven when it is so world's away from that.. but so maNy do not know that.. it's a big sword of the enemy-untruth-babble. The darts (of the, imo, false prophet) instead of sticking into the sides of the sheep and troubling them.. that large covering shield of faith intact and solid deflects the darts and they fall to the ground bent and broken.

..And of course(!) the sheep need the mighty sWord of the Spirit.. that shiny two edged sword which is truth.. all truth and nothing but..

But how can they have the sword when they are carrying the heavy burden of ET on their backs?

...oops gotta run for a bit.. back to read more.. (thanks! top a' the mornin' to ya! :))

No matter what the fire burns up, and if there be nothing but ashes left,.....Look at what He promises us.

Isa_61:3  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Not because there is no darkness, but because it is covered over just like the mercy seat had a cover, else the death contained would be loosed. Same pattern shown on the mount. Where did Moses/law and Elijah/prophet go? Into the "new" ark of the covenant. It's not so much about time as it is about identity and relationship.

Probably few want to hear this part, but the darkness once submitted to the Seed Son in us, causes us no harm and is His servant in us, ready to bring judgment to the flesh of those who were not "killed" yet as we were (those of every tribe, kindred under the altar-only thing under there is our ashes, a sweet smelling savor unto the Lord) to consume it, not to destroy them. The darkness is a footstool, we're the feet company getting ready to walk Him around. Does not any good footstool elevate the feet? My  :2c: Blessings... :HeartThrob:

"Marie said"... :Chinscratch: hmmm, perhaps that is one reason He has patterned it as He has.. with a 1st resurrection and "the rest of the dead come not back to life until after the 1000 years" millennium of Jesus (rev20:4,5)

Could the 1,000 yr. Reign of Christ be "over" the Adam nature?.....After all Adam's life span only consisted of one day,.....which is as a 1,000 yrs. :Chinscratch:

I think both Genesis and Revelation have keys to all the rest of the scriptures/Bible. I haven't followed through on researching that yet..

Hard for mortals to imagine living a thousand years (like Adam did!)

I sometimes wonder how long it will seem between the two resurrections.. the 1st at the end of this age when Jesus returns.. and the 2nd a thousand years later of all those not yet saved.. as they say.

I have a staunch atheist brother.. tho deep down I know he 'believes..' but it's possible I may not see him for a space of a thousand years.. And he is so nice! And smart! ..I can't wait for the day I see Him on fire for Jesus..

You know what? I think there will always be God's Word.. the Bible just the way it is now. Forever. The seal of God on the forehead.

...a thousand years.. to Him, of course :laughing7: it seems like less than a day.. I'll sure miss my bro tho if he's not there.. and his wife..

..blessings! It's nice to see that a regular has come back to 'the tent'! (to steal another's words!) :hiya: :hiya:

  Hi Sister Marie!!
,
Sure can call me Rosie , my hubs  does affectionately  at times , and my sister  Pammie  did ,, all   my   youth  to  growing up  and her departing ..

I see this as kindness and    the ''brotherly love ''     the Lord Jesus spoke to Peter   , the  philo love and agape  love    in His  ''feed my lambs and sheep '' instructions  after satan had finished  sifting him as  wheat and he got turned around on the right   path  ..

I find that odd because  Jesus was the one with the winnow fan  /fork  in His hand  and thoroughly  purge  his   thrashing   floor      with Holy Spirit and fire separating the wheat and chaff   in  everyone receiving the Holy Spirit and fire  baptism ,'' to be dipped into '', even Peter   hummm ?

   Matt 3

11"As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I,

and I am not fit to remove His sandals;

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

12"His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor;

and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

Sounds like the Judgment seat of Christ to me  in the here and now  , separating the  sheep and goats  and wheat and chaff  and  pruning  branches  ,  evil   or useless  from the good etc  , for Gods purpose  and use .

I wrote this long post and it was     maybe too much  , so  ,,,  I sure think you been on fire  as of late  in a good way ...

was just reading through the posts and some gave their thoughts on the "second death". My thoughts are that there are two births, one of flesh one of spirit. I also believe there are two deaths, one flesh one spiritual. What I mean is, everyone dies a physical death, the first death. Everyone will have to die a spiritual death. Or as it says in (Col. 5:10) "And have put on the new man".  (Rom.6:2-10) Talks about being dead to sin and being buried with Christ. Verse 11 "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord".  (Col. 3:3) "For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God". I am thinking this is the second death. I am also wondering if this second death and the lake of fire isn't just for Israel?

not if you reckon it as All men in Adam[son of God] is Israel,,and the spirit of life died when sin entered

[ye have no life in yourselves/I am the resurrection[ thus all in Adam have died spiritually and physically]

it is appointed unto all men to die once..then the judgement[as all men have bore the image of the corrupt/so

too, shall all men bear the image of the incorrupt]

image of the corrupt spirit=likeness of satan/unclean spirits/slanderer of God/liar/theif/murderous spirit

this one is the son of perdition.

How can any man be harmed in the LOF if all that is destroyed is unclean spirits/evil spirits/demons....

/wood/hay stubble tares. and death....all the things that defile man?   who would be harmed from the

removal of these things....? why it would be a Blessing..and surely the man who has had such things

removed from him would truly inherit the Kingdom prepared for them before the founding of the world.

the only that has it's end/loss... is corruption,sin/death/evil/slanders/malice/hatred/theiving etc.

make the tree good/or make the tree evil..for the mixing is only death unto us...........

the TOL has no death in it..it is the perfect...the perfect image and likeness of God..it is in the image

and likeness of Christ..sinless flesh/oneness and love with the Father..it always does what pleases the Father

it is never tempted of evil..it can not practice sin..it practices what it preaches..obedience unto death

mercy,love,long-suffering/righteousness,holiness,joy and adoration of Our Father..it delights in His goodness

and loves to dwell with Him in humbleness. Every man is going to have that!!He is our inheritance..and we

are His!!!!!!!  there will be no 'sins law' operating in your flesh so that..the good you desire to do,you do not

do..or evil being present with you......No more..when the sons of God come in to present themselves

unto the Father..satan also entered in 'among' them.

the adversary totally overcome in every way..no more tears..nor death,pain.........we will leave all that

behind...Because He is our Father..He loves us..He delivers us..for we belong to Him..and He is ours.

..this is from Revelation chapter 20 -- chapter 19.. the armies gathered for armegeddon around Israel which were consumed by fire.. For "He comes with His angels and with fire" but the fire is of man's own doings.. (imo after much study and prayer:)

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. [Of believers - "we shall reign with Him 1000 years" "as spiritual priests unto God" .."they shall build the waste places"..]

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations..

And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the (world) beast/body(imo) and the false prophet(/teaching) are. (Institutions of mankind which were active at the time of Jesus' return, imo)

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. [Judgment 'Day']

14 Then ...anyone not found written in the Book of Life (believing?) was cast into the lake of fire.

..........Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

God bless!

I wrote:

I do believe Revelation was written mostly for Israel because of referring to "overcoming" which Christ has overcome all things for us. Also Christ being referred to as a lamb. Most everything referres to the Kingdom of God which will be here on earth. Most everything is happening,... I am thinking,... during the thousand years.

I could be wrong on all of this and more than likely wrong on some of it but God isn't finished with me yet, so be patient.  :Peace2:

His physical example is what we will all participate in spiritually ...... if not on this side of Jordan it will take place on the other side ..... and by the glory of God, all will be saved, all will be baptized in fire and when all, there will no longer be a need for it for "it is accomplished" what the Father started to do from the beginning ..... that being to have all of mankind baptized in fire

my  :2c:

Jugghead, what a great post!  Good food for thought.

Your line about 'life for life' reminded me about one from Joeteekay last year: "We live to die and we die to live."
Good stuff!

Since I used to work with precious metals quite a bit, I got 'hands on' refining experience, and actually I still own what might have been called a "torment" (touchstone), so I can relate (on the physical level) to the analogies in the bible about the purification process.  I read the other day an article on a site called Not1lost about this subject.  It was very good and I would guess the owner of the site might be someone that comes to 'the tent'. I would recommend the site.

As far as the touchstone, if anyone is interested, the way it is used (anyway, the way we used it):
There is a set of 'standards' of several known levels of gold purity (karats)
The item of unknown purity is streaked on the stone. (The modern test stone is a flat, black, natural stone. Smooth, and maybe 3" square and 3/8" thick). Generally you can guess the karat range by judging the color of the streak.
After you guess the karat range, you streak one of the lower and one of the higher known standards on each side of the unknown.  Using a glass rod, acid is wiped across the streaks.  By observing the reaction, you can begin the process of determining whether to go up or down with the karat standard testing until you get a match.  (Lower karats will react sooner and disappear faster than the higher ones.)
When testing the higher karats, it is necessary to add salt to the (nitric) acid to promote a reaction.  Pure gold cannot be dissolved by a single acid, but requires a combination of nitric and hydrochloric acid which is called 'aqua regia' (latin translation- 'royal water').
Other precious metals can be tested on the torment with different methods (it seems to be impervious to (most) acids). Some metals require a lot of time to test out,  I would say "aionios basanizō"

Smelting is fluidizing metal and burning off impurities (wood, hay, stubble (and 'garbage'))with fire.

Refining is the purification of the smelted material.  Refining can be done in more than one way.  Maybe we can talk about it another time.

"That's all I have to say about that." - F.G.

One more thing, a little off topic.  Did you know that sulphur (brimstone) is usually found in salt domes. (Sodom, brimstone, Lot's wife, pillar of salt).  I don't think there's anything to it, just a coincidence.

Actually Pat, in Andrew Jukes book, "the Restiitution of All Things" he goes into quite a bit of detail about sulfur/brimstone.. What he wrote made a big impact on me when I was first searching out UR themes.

theio- brimstone/sulfur- is a word that occurs in Greek early writings and refers to the fire used to purify vessels used in oblations to the gods.

Sulfur is a purifying agent and a catalyst. All this goes along with Juggheads view of the LOF, which I agree with.

Whatever is not mortified through faith in Christ will be mortified in the lake of fire, in the form of light consuming darkness, dragging hidden things to the surface to be slain by the two edged sword of the living and active word that divide asunder soul and spirit and "makes manifest" the thoughts nd intentions of the heart.

I love how Jugghead simplified      the lake fire!!

I know the cross of Jesus Christ that baptism  of fire     was all the sinners against him  , we also must  think like Jesus  and  consider the joy before us , enduring the  same sufferings of Christ   that we to can glory in God  and not in man , not even in our own  abilities , He is the one who gave ALL   for ALL
We are just following His example      [Luke 12 ;49]
We also despise  the shame of being   trampled upon  and mistreated  and abused  and those in doing so   , think they have the victory in their moment  , it is their darkness  and ignorance   , that does bring judgment of fire upon themselves ... as they judge so shall they be judged   , GODS WORD IS TRUTH , and by the Fiery law     those steams  of fire from the throne     do    judge us all ..
The very intent of the HEART   , If it be  for anything other than LOVE will fail utterly    in defeat

Jesus went though all this for our sakes  , not of his own sake , He had the POWER to lay down His life and take it back up again at any time     as the FATHER  gave Him this work   this   power to do so.

The Touchstone  is Jesus Christ    symbolically  as being the foundation   laid down   as SOLID    and cannot ever be moved out its place

It is us whom stumble over it  and fall and  fail and cannot get up on our own , this judgment is in effect     and has been    since the cross

Hebrews 12  2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Loosing heart is loosing the LOVE   , because iniquity abounds/ lawlessness  the love of many  wane cold

But Jesus also said ,  though the revelation  given to   Paul , because iniquity abounds /lawlessness     the grace of God abounds the more ...

Grace is how we are saved it is the gift of God AND  not of ourselves     ..

The white stones purified in the fire  , verses the  black stones  that have not  yet been purified  in the fire  , these are symbolic of hearts
Make in me a clean heart   oh Lord ........

This is seeing corruption    being in the world but not of it .....  not a partaker

When Jesus was baptised in the    Jordan  , by John the  baptist   , that all righteousness be fulfilled    ,
He set the example in place     , that we too     would  also     go though      , coming up out of the Jordan ,  meaning descent , lowering being humbled     as to  Receiving  the Dove / Spirit /CLOUD and Voice of God  this is my son  in whom I am well pleased ''Listen to HIM ''

Being  sent  to the wilderness to be tested  , by the HOLY SPIRIT    and   satan was allowed to    sift   under the law

We know for a  fact this is when Jesus cover come the world     by temptation ,  satan offered the kingdoms of the world to him and   asking the Father to send  messengers   to protect Him and   turning the  stones  hearts  of mankind to bread of Life ..

JESUS REBUKED SATAN !!    WITH THE WORD OF GOD IN POWER BY THE  HOLY SPIRIT  WITNESS ..GOD makes a way of escape      ...

We war not against  flesh and blood but  spiritual principalities  in high places   , that temptation     [ Jesus prayer in John 17 ]   Holy Spirit lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil    .

All the scriptures testify of the exact same things   and fit together perfectly

Spiritual warfare  is being prepared  by Gods Spirit though His Word
Blessed is He whom is in the first resurrection     , this baptism    of approval of God     [SEAL] and  the 2nd death has no power  / satan cannot touch you ...

satan   murderer / dead bodies  are held  in     is cast into the fire  with the false prophet[liars ] and  beast   carnal minded   where all death dwells  in   ....

All life and the Power of all Life dwells in Jesus Christ of Heavenly   things as always ,     the very opposite of   death and all that power in it  earthly things as temporary

GOD will save all by the POWER OF THE WORD AND SPIRIT   working in us all , not just a few , but all
HE will accomplish   ''ALL THINGS ''  that He started   long before we ever   become aware .

:cloud9: Great post. This in particular, caught my eye and my ear.

Gold speaks of the nature of God, which is why all the furniture at a certain point in the Tabernacle pattern was either covered with gold, or was made of pure gold. We are becoming one with those pieces of furniture as Christ is formed in us, and ultimately the Father will reside in revealed glory in us also, as our "double portion", for the priest's portion was God Himself.

So; first of all, something corrosive is used to test our "metal". The less we have, the quicker it disappears under the rigors of testing.

f we have more, it takes longer to wear away, and requires SALT to be added as a catalyst increase. All the offerings made to Him had to be salted with salt, save I think, one perhaps (will have to reread to be sure).

And it it's PURE, it requires DOUBLE PORTION (Job) to test it. It's ALL spiritual.  Blessings....

This faith  when proved is  more precious than gold  ,When touched by God !!  1 Peter 1

A Living Hope

...6In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

7so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

8and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,...

Job 23:10
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

Psalm 17:3
Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.

Psalm 66:10
For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver.

Luke 17:30
"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

Romans 2:7
To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

Romans 2:10
but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Romans 8:19
For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

1 Corinthians 3:13
their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work.

James 1:3
because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

1 Peter 4:13
But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

1 Peter 5:1
To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:

2 Peter 3:14
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Revelation 3:18
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

Without faith you cannot See Jesus  or His kingdom  , with faith in God all things are possible and you  do SEE JESUS    and His Kingdom in the Spirit    in everything !! :HeartThrob:

[note: literal as metaphor, and metaphor as literal? two, metaphor/literal bearing witness..]

I still believe the lake of fire to a refiner's crucible and fiery remorse.. Salted with fire, purified.. But also today, during morning reading and prayer time, it seemed very clear to me ( :2c: of course).. that, first, it occurs three times.. what fire will the (world) beast and the false prophet(teacher/teaching) be "brought to" (end Rev 19) (note: considering one potential of the Greek - to bring to) - they are, imo, institutions of man active/alive at the time of Jesus' return, but they go to the lake of fire, and seemed real obvious to me what lake of fire they go to.. that last fiery conflagration that occurs at Armageddon (shades of 2 Peter) - which element of the latter age, the days of our Lord, A.D. began in 1945 (imo) with the Opening of the 6th seal - then paused, Rev.7 - but described at opening/beginning as a blend of what it is at the first and what it is at the 'end' when fully progressed/galloped-though this seal is not written as riding a horse, lol.

Then, 1000 years later ("when the 1000 years are ended" just before the rest of the dead, those not yet saved, are resurrected "and the sea gave up its dead, and the grave gave up its dead.." ...John saw "all, great and small, standing before the throne of God"). But just previous to that, many are gathered by Satan and they surround the city of God (not yet the New Jerusalem of Rev 21) - but "fire comes down from heaven and devours them". (2nd lake of fire, fiery, liquid like conflagration(?) - This is before the resurrection of all those who die still disobedient (i.e. still "subjected to disobedience" until they repent).

After that surrounding the city and fire from heavens, is Judgment 'Day'... after which, death and the grave are cast into the lake of fire/2nd death. And also any (still?) not written in the book of Life -- Then next, we see, that "all things are made new" and "the sea will no longer be" which I think refers to the lof.

Which this time of the new heavens and earth, I have to think coincides with 2 Peter's "the present heavens and earth reserved for the day of judgment, within which ('day') the elements will melt with a ferocious heat.." And then John "saw a new heavens and a new earth" which Peter wrote "wherein righteousness" (100% "approved by God" :cloud9: ) "will dwell".

:2c: :Chinscratch: :Peace2:

 :2c:Eccl 3;16 Intheplaceof judgement,wickedness was there.In the place ofjustice,wickedness was there.

Job,1;6  The sinners in Zion were afraid...who can dwell with continual burnings?[satan and his angels[evilspirits]fearing the coming LOF

that will consume them..the 2nd death PREPARED FOR SATAN AND HIS ANGELS..of whom Christ will separate from men...when He appears

again..SEPERATE/apart FROM SIN..andyouwillbe just likeHim..separate from sin.

Wickedness...a woman..carried off to the land of Shinar/Babylon...of whom all man's spilled blood is credited.

Habakuk 1;4for the wicked encompass the righteous...therefore justice is perverted.

sin entered in through one man...thus allmen were constituted sinners[sin in flesh condemned in allmen]  through the righteousness of

one man..Jesus Christ...all men receive righteousness as a free gift..or justification.

now have spirits of'just[ified]men to be made perfect...By His knowledge He shall justify many!

God's judgement..all men subjected unto vanity..all men fall short of theglory..all men bear the imageof the corrupt one..that no flesh

shallboast. He bound up allmenindisobedience..in order toshowmercy unto all. THEN..the freegift!!!!

People are unaware that God has been sowingHisHoly spirit seed[children]in the earth from thebeginning...inthis way the Holycity

has been descending and ascending backup toHeaven.Yes,all men's spirits are Jesus descendants! See Peter's vision of the animals

on the sheet coming down from heaven and returning.

we should all recognize there is no longer any curse under the law. for man.because of the new covenant of Grace mercy through

Jesus Christ,if we areborn from above. Bless andcurse not..God with us! O'immanuel! not call any man unclean because of what

Jesus as 'the Word of God' has spoken..He came tosave..not condemn.

we are not to curse any man into the LOF....the true 'cursed' are satan andhisangels..ofwhom Jesus said that the LOFis prepared for!

There is a KINGDOM PREPARED FOR US BEFORE THIS WORLD WAS FOUNDED!! BEFORE WE WERE SENT DOWN!!SUBJECTED TO VANITY

BOUND IN DISOBEDIENCE!

THEWORD OF GOD COME IN FLESH SAID SATAN AND HIS ANGELS[demons]ARE CURSED IN THE LOF..AND THAT MEN ARE SHEEP

AND BLESSED AND INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD PREPARED FOR THEM AND ARE SEPERATED FROM THIER EVIL SPIRITS[sin]!

being savedthrough fire=the removal and destruction of satan/sin/evil spirits/accuser/death in the LOF!!!!

I'm thinking most in their interpretation of this would associate hellfire and brimstone cause that's what they were taught - what was put in the church via mythology.

If most ETers thought about it, they'd probably find that most of their honest and heartfelt repentance experiences came out of a kind of torment and were reaching for help.
Or, they're conversion experience came out of a deep and desperate fear that Hell was real.

Hades was the Greek's god of the underworld. Fire, brimstone, all of it , was his domain called Tartarus. Fascinating myth really. Said to be located in the center of the earth. Interestingly enough, that is the theorized core of our home planet that is said to be of molten lava. Which would be a literal lake of fire and brimstone.
