Has anyone worked/volunteered for them? Would it be a good organization to work for?

My niece liked them a lot when she was a kid. Other than that, Idk. They seemed like sincere believers and did a lot of good things. I can't think they are big 'hell' preachers.. Still made up of humans though.. lol.

We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.

Just kidding, basically all Christians believe that, I can't fault them.

I haven't worked for them but I donate to them often and buy clothes and stuff for the kids there.

They do a lot of good for the world. I know a secular store that donates clothing to them a lot because they said they do a great job of not wasting things: they will even shred old or stained clothes that haven't sold to be recycled.

This one one main concern I have for volunteering is this:

Matthew 6
1 "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

It is pretty much impossible to not not be seen when volunteering now, so I guess it would be the intentions of the heart. Last thing I want is to wear a fancy uniform or clothes, boasting about good works and bragging that I'm part of an organization.

This post had me imagining you marching down the street in uniform, blowing a trumpet and bowing to adulating crowds.. haha..

 :cloud9: I think volunteering for them is a good thing. Just don't get sucked into their beliefs. My ex brother and sister in law had been in the church for at least 25 years. They cornered me on my porch one day trying to persuade me to believe like them, and I basically saw it was more of a works organization and had not much to do with His Spirit in any capacity, as they didn't believe in anything biblical. I told them my testimony, and they did the oddest thing. They both sat there with their eyes closed the entire time, and at the end of it, he said, regarding the Spirit, "What good is it?" I was stunned. Blessings...
