Ok, we're making some progress here, but I think it's just a matter of that with God, things always get better and better.

That is exactly, as Sparrow pointed out, why our bodies continue to decay and why we groan to be clothed, not with the mind of Christ (which we have indeed been blessed with according to the "foretaste of future glory"), but with his immortality and NON-decay as well.

Then, how did those patriarchs live hundreds of years with a 'decaying' body, some as long as 1000 years?  What did they know, that we don't?

Actually they didn't know anything that we don't. The prophets did not minister to themselves but to us about better things. As to why mortals had a longer life, who knows? Some people die naturally at 60, and some people die naturally at 110. It's just the state of things, though I am sure it has some metaphoric meaning. Bodies are ALWAYS decaying, just not always at the same rate.

:cloud9: It is subject to decay, that's true. But there is a resurrection while still in the body, that Paul was speaking of. It is when Christ that is within, who is the INCORRUPTION, swallows up the corruption of this body without. This is why we received Christ within as our hope of glory, and why He prayed for the glory He had to be restored; as one with Him as His body, that means we get restored to the glory we had before the foundation of the world too, when we were one with Him.

The 'church' has sold a false glory to the people, with doctrines robbing Him of a body to be glorified IN, first with dying to go to heaven, which is a state of being we are in RIGHT NOW, but can't perceive it without the Spirit opening our eyes as He did Elijah's, and second, with their 'rapture' doctrines of flying away.

Our hope of glory is Christ IN US, period. Blessings....

PS. I see the fish also as attaining to be able to "throw our nets to the right (Spirit) side".

(I don't have a problem with this belief, by the way...) I am just, I guess wondering about how far some take this belief. As in, do you believe that we don't NEED to die a physical death, but that there is something that we should be DOING in order to NOT die a physical death? This is the feeling I'm getting from a few on this thread and I'm trying to understand what it is that they are really saying here. I'm not talking spiritual here, I'm talking LITERAL physical death, heart stops beating, etc.

The only way that I could see people not dying physical death is if God's love finally permeated everyone's heart. That is what we need to be doing, is going out there and spreading LOVE.  Showing everyone what God really is! LOVE. If Love permeated every single person's heart, than the curse would reverse itself, I'm thinking. It would be "heaven on earth". But is that something that is in the near future?

I can also see it in the way that some believe that Jesus will return. But some see this as He is returning amongst great calamity and then more calamity and some see it as once the gospel (the true good news) has been actually preached to the ends of the earth. (If the true gospel were preached and understood... then love WOULD start to permeate every heart.) That isn't even nearly completed. It seems it is only now just starting...!

I can understand these two views and am wondering if you all are talking about either one or both or something else altogether.

I'm not saying it.  The scripture is saying it.  We shall not all sleep....That's the same word that Jesus uses for Lazarus.   He has that 'who's on first' discussion with the disciples where he says, Lazarus is asleep--let's go wake him up.  And, they say, oh good, he's not dead yet.  And, Jesus says Lazarus is dead. lol  And, they are--huh? who's on first?  He's dead?

So the scripture is saying we shall not all die...

But, more than that---our bodies are incredible healing machines--and there are many who have experienced supernatural healing, as well, [for which cause I called upon Cardinal].  I think we are too quick to assume death and decay of our physical bodies is our lot.
