The way I see it God is after the lost sheep within people - the hidden man of the heart. In times past this mystery was hidden - but now is coming into open view.  The law and it's reward/wrath system was powerless to change us because of the weakness of the flesh. Now our spirits are reborn into God's image - not by wrath but by love. The trouble we bring upon ourselves I guess in one way could be seen as "God's wrath" but the important thing is to see what's happening on the deepest level - beyond the surface. Jesus has come to "seek and save" lost sheep - not to destroy them. I see he wrath being against the world systems (including religious systems) which bind and afflict humanity.

But, how do you reconcile your beautiful message, compared to the dual message (angry/wrathful God and God of Love) in the bible??  

just throw out the verses that speak of God's anger and wrath??  

Spiritualize it all and make the bible a perosonification of the "duality of mind"?

The difficulty of the old testament language is the insistance that it is a literal depiction of an God angry like a man, because men have interpreted it too much in the flesh.

What's wrong is this image that God is justified in cold blooded murder just because some religious folk say  "who are we?"

Well, you know who we are?   We are Gods children, who can understand who the father is.   But people paint this picture of God who might as well hate everything and then conveniently excuse that with such religious catch phrases as "his ways are not our ways"

Really?  They are not?  OMG, people want to wipe others out all the time because they do not measure up, so INDEED, his ways are not our ways, so that depiction is blatently WRONG.

Oh, well God decided to wipe out people he created as if, whoops,  screwed that one up,  poooof   bye bye, I'm God, I'm done playing I'm going to crush my toys and go home.

The old testament is a beautiful story of Love,  it take the literal crap of the earth and paints the tapestry like no human painter could imagine.  It shows a God who decided to create us knowing that there was no way that He could even change what we would exerience in order to know what he knows to be like him.   

He knows in the end that what God could not change will bring us the understanding of the wonderful gift of life he bestows.

The angry God appears to take retribution upon his creation because that is indeed what our hearts deep down would like to do.  But what it is telling us is promise.

God inspired the writers of the day to take literal events and show what God was going to do in our hearts.

God did not flood actual people because he was sick of them. 

He flooded an entire world of evil in my heart so that what was left was the lone family of God.  I personally went from a 16 year old kid who actually attempted murder to someone who felt sad in his soul watching a little frog get run over and I couldn't stop it.

Nothing short of a miracle will explain that.

However it came about religion has God justified in doing things that man does where the only real difference is that he is more powerful than everyone so who can do anything about it in the first place.

I see all kinds of things and arguments and debates on how God is ok because "He's God" when there is no real justification in our minds deep down.  Even universalists are consigned to it often because, well, he can do all that stuff because he is going to save everyone anyway.

I'm just not buying that literal picture any more.    It's like this. 

I have power over you so I beat you to death just because I can (if I am "all" powerful, then I didn't really have to do that, but I tell you it's for a good reason), then I nurse you back to health, eventually you may come to realize that your never going to beat me, so , you just accept it, but you will not really have any love.


It's really a left over remnant of ET or even annihilation teaching that has allowed me to see an even more wonderful picture of God.

I was raised on that God, and I probably had more OT exposure as a child than the average Christian.

But, I knew this wonderful God from my earliest memories.  This is what I was taught.

It really disturbs me when I hear the stories about how God was presented to people as children on here.

It's almost like satan has taken over the church.

Paul it's not that I disagree. I sorta agree but still I have some sort of fight/doubt inside myself about it.
I think it's correct to say Jesus warned about punishment. Ok, it wasn't about lava pit but it wasn't about hitting you once with a cotton pad neither. So I'm looking for a balance. God is love etc. But denying punishment of some sort isn't scriputal either.
Right now, for me, it's a paradox.

Who is saying that God is an angry violent God because he will judge? Who are we to say what methods God will or will not use?

The God of the OT is still the God of today he does not change whether it fits our 'idea' of him or not.

Everything he allows is for his purposes and should be seen through that and through his 'merciful' eyes.

It is actually out of his Love and Mercy that he sends judgment, it is actually for our good that he shakes us out of our slumber and for his Glory.

I still will continue to say he will allow whatever methods he chooses. I personally believe that the Lake of Fire will be far worse than going through these light afflictions here in this world on earth.

I would prefer the judgment of God that way any day. I believe the Lord would PREFER people repent NOW than having to later when that is a much more severe judgment in the Lake.

It is a matter of how you view God and perspective of that he allows.

Why has he allowed sin to run rampant in the word and allow all the chaos and hell we face now and Adam and Eve to do something that would first of all bring all this we face now upon us?

The way I see God now differs totally than how I see him just a few years ago. It started with UR and understanding his love for mankind and it went on from there.

I went through the phase where God would show me all the wonderful things he has planned , and there are some glorious things that will take place. But, he has also shown me the path to getting there, the maturing in him we must do to be able to walk in certain things and understand certain things.

I refuse to take back anything I have said.

It is a matter of seeing God as he "is" and understanding his ways and thoughts are not ours and not as how we want to make God be.

He is a mystery. We can only taste of his Glory and get a glimpse of his Glory and who he is on this passing earth. This is not our home and we should not be so in love with it that we believe God would not do anything to destroy it for his own purposes and to bring fallen sinners to himself and provoke us who are in him to maturity in Christ. Our high calling is to become sons of God shaped into the spotless image of Jesus Christ and it must be accomplished in this life and the tribulations we face...This is also the Baptism of Fire. It does not start in the Lake of Fire.

To believe otherwise is an inconsistency with believing he judges one in the Lake of Fire for their sins, yet not here on earth in what he has shown me is not near as 'severe' as the Lake will be.
