I'm glad there's finally some articles out on it.  I've been off of that trash for a while and even did some fasting at the time to totally cleanse my body from it and restore insulin sensitivity that might have been lost with that trash.  Stevia and agave nectar are better sweeteners and an alternative to regular soda that's better than sex zevia.com  There are cheaper versions of this kind of soda out there, once you know what you're looking for.  But not having tried them, I don't know what they taste like.

Ya gotta watch the ingredients even on your breads and crackers if you buy store bought ones, so it's not just the soda issue.  They sneak this crap into just about everything 'cause it creates addictive behaviour to what they're pushing and you wind up buying more.

Yeah, it's just astounding. You wouldn't believe the stuff this is in. It's in nearly everything.

My rule of thumb is: don't mess with God's design. If He didn't make it for food, and it's not in the form He made it, it probably shouldn't go in your body.

Anything unnatural that goes in your body will be treated just as any other foreign invader would, and if your body can't eliminate it, it will sequester it by storing it as fat.

jabcat

Agreed on all of it...not real crazy about the Zevia cola, prefer the fruit flavored...still looking for an acceptable alternative for the cola which I crave (read, addicted to).  I've read Dr. Mercola and get emails from his site...pretty good stuff.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

the catch-22, Jabcat, is that it's probably the High Fructose Corn Syrup that you're addicted to in cola :dontknow:

I could more likely agree, except now I'll admit the rest of it...I drink Diet Rite (usually around 1 per day) because of the Splenda (still not good ) and because no caffeine for the hydration...I'm motivated again from this thread though to look some more for alternatives...I do drink tea that I brew at home, unfortunately I really don't like drinking water much...bad deal.

Diet Rite and Diet RC are extremely addictive because of the Splenda, but you wind up wanting to sleep all of the time when the Splenda starts becoming too much for your system. www.truthaboutsplenda.com

jabcat

ah, forgot about specifics of the splenda effects...just that it's not good, but you very well may be right about that...I believe it perhaps slows down the metabolism, also tricks the body into responding as to or worse than, refined sugar

Hey Jab, I get Mercola's emails too. That is what caused me to post this today.

Also, Martin, the way they make agave turns it into fructose and so it is just as bad for you as corn fructose.

Here is something I found:
This link is a real eye opener on agave:

Not to mention that splenda is made by replacing some of the molecules in sugar with chlorine, a deadly poison.

Hey Doc, what doesn't kill you will only make you closer to dying.

eh, just drink water.
well...
filtered water that is.

It's awful, ain't it?

Just how FALLEN this world truly is? In every aspect of life...

Thank God, it's only temporary.

I use xylitol as a sweetener. I'm sure it will be reported soon that it's toxic.

Haven't had a soda in over a year. (big feat for me.)

Fruit tastes WONDERFUL when you wean yourself off of sugar and packaged sweets/junkfood.
I used to be a junk food junkie. Not anymore. Been off that crap for almost a year now.
no more. It's just poison.
my diet isn't perfect. but it's a heck of a lot better than it used to be.

ugh. Franken-foods!  yuk.  Can't wait until our farmers market opens up here in April.. woo hoo!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

At one time I used to drink six cans of 12oz
old fashioned classic coca colas and eat a half dozen glazed donuts along with it for five or six days every week with few exceptions for years when I drove truck, we never had any time to spare often on some schedules and so I would drink and eat some of it during roadside tire and brake checks and some after unloading at the destination.
I wieghed 125 lbs when I started driving truck and 30 years later I wieghed the same,
after all that abuse of long working hours, heavy maxed out excess wight permited loads, exposed to nasty concentrated toxic chemical cargo loads like formaldehyde, carbolic acid, aqua amonia, chlorine, explosive agents, pesticides, herbicides, petroleum ether spirits, paint thinners, all that along with an abusive diet I should have looked like a blimp with rotten teeth but that never happened to me, now I've been retired 15 years, almost 70 years old with still good health  and the same wieght, And I don't go to doctors, I niether boast nor complain of these things, only stating what has been so appearently God isn't ready for Angel of the unmeasured journey to take me out of this world just yet.

Though I haven't drank a coca cola since I retired, I still drink my share of coffee which I really enjoy a good flavered cup of coffee, especialy in the mornings, just black though no sugar or cream.

Peace,

Well Doc, I had to edit my post, I mis spelled the word ether and also I drank coke  and ate the donuts AFTER unloading, not during unloading, that was a no no in those toxic chemical plants and for safety sake rightfuly so , and yes, I enjoy good flavored coffee but I forgot to say just black, no sugar or cream!

Reminds me of the comedian who said:

I live to die (to self).

My great great grandmother in law was around 105 when she died. She chewed tobacco all her life, ate the greasiest food back with grease was really grease (lard) not any of this hydrogenated crap called Crisco. She was up and walking and had a full life and had her sharp mind as well. She wanted to work. She didn't like being idle.

Yeah, I believe it. Trouble is, today we have so many (and large quantities of) environmental toxins that just didn't exist or weren't prevalent back then; we're just so constantly bombarded with crap these days, even if we're not putting it in our bodies ourselves.

That is true Doc, not everyone can see that though, many think the enviroment is either better these days or worse, in some ways it may be better in some ways and worse in others.

Native people in a country  drink the water in that country with no adverse health problems  to themselves, yet visitors and tourists go to that country and, if they drink
that same local area water become very sick
in some cases even die from fevers or other adverse complications because their body has no immunity to the bacteria in that water as the Natives do.

Hospitals and the medical profession are finding out that there is such a thing as being too sterile and by killing unwanted germs out they also kill the good, the more sterile the enviroment is for prolonged periods of time the less imunity the body has when exposed to the natural enviroment which has both the good and the adverse germs, well anyways God is the one who created the germs,  these germs  work no ill in those who have inbuilt genitic immunity or have built up a resistance. That is why certain medicines like antibiotics work for a generation or two then lose effectiveness and become harmful rather than benificial.  here again is the catch 22 regarding phamacy or mans quest to create a balanced inviroment, in some cases bringing more unbalance than where it was  previously, an artficial eviroment verses a natural enviroment which leads to more artificial devisiveness.

Fire Walker
