Yup, Rose I think so to.  God gave me medicine for my pain . .it's built in.  It's called "tears". :HeartThrob:
  the place of two rivers  :HeartThrob:

Sounds like Shinar, evertime I hear of two rivers I think of the blood and water that come out of Christ
Psa 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: [are they] not in thy book?

  :HeartThrob:

Love that one Rose  :HeartThrob:
me too sis  :HeartThrob: Can  SEE JESUS
Jesus is the reward  !!

Quote from: TonyNAre you Irritable, Depressed, Angry? These are not signs of ingesting the leaven of Eternal Torment.

There is no cure to date for these maladies.  Not even the truth of Universal Reconciliation or any truth will help you.

Some have reported fits of happiness and a feeling of freedom. Other symptoms might include sudden fits of laughter and outbursts of praise to God. Others, well, nothing has helped them. They would have been better off just believing in ET so that family and friend's relations would not be strained. Remember that Universal Reconciliation might not be for everyone, (obviously not for those here) so ask your pastor if UR is right for you. Better just stick with ET if you are depressed.

Hiya,

I do not see anyone here say there was no cure.

Only that the cure is not UR.

The cure is love.

Like it always has been.

Well, I laughed when I saw your post this morning, Tony, lol.

I've been depressed, everyone told me to get pills, I kept thinking it would go away.  It would for awhile, then come back.  Sometimes last for awhile.  So I finally asked the doctor and she gave me something.  It gave me diarrhea. I was a bit leery of getting addicted anyway, had a friend who was a mean one when getting off of antidepressants.  I quit taking it and figured I'll deal with the depression.  Seeing UR does help me, especially with the death of someone dear who may not have been a Christian.

Life just has its ups and downs.  Some people are naturally cheerful all the time.  Some have disciplined themselves into accepting the bad with the good.  Most of us struggle now and then.  It's not a perfect world, yet.  I laugh about my whining usually a few hours or days, sometimes weeks AFTER the fact, even if I'm not totally happy.  To me laughter is one of the best medicine, especially if you can laugh at yourself.

Peace

YoungYuni

Hiya,

The message of UR helped, but it is not the cure to your depression, correct?

It helped in some areas that perhaps made you depressed, but the cure to depression is not just a doctrine that every person is or one day saved because of what Jesus had done, was it?

:dontknow: :girlheart:

Paul Hazelwood

Depression has many sources and for some it can be a real physical problem in the workings of the brain functions and just a state of mind and spiritual doctrines will not just magically make it go away any more than it will cure cancer or anything else.

Some need medicine just as much as a heart patient might and I don't see anyone telling a heart patient to just believe in UR and all your troubles go away.

Sorry if I might have misread the intent of this thread but I don't like seeing this issue being taken flippantly from people who can't think much of anything more to say than "get over it".

If it cured you, great for you and no one can take that knowledge away, but don't assume that for everyone, please.

Hiya Paul!

I agree in both counts!

I agree Paul.  I think Tony was kidding, making a good, funny point...it does help to realize our Father's not focused on oppressive, "I'm gonna get'cha for that" theology.

But, as you know, I also believe there are physical, inherited, genetically based depressions and anxieties that need treatment.  I do believe in miracles, and that God can fix anything He chooses, however He wants.  If He doesn't do so instantly/miraculously, maybe His choice is that we use the knowledge He has given us for good, including seeing a competent physician that specializes in what we need that can help us.  Some things just aren't as cut and dried and easily answered as we'd like sometimes, is it?  :sigh:.  I won't go into details here right now, but I come from a family in which genetically inherited depression is a strong component, and believe me, I very well know that the right antidepressant can help, if it's prescribed appropriately (the right one, in the right amounts, for the right disorder/situation).
----------------------------------
My suggestion to myself and all of us about this thread...  I think Tony's original intent was light-hearted, meant for specific things (oppression of "religion") and what good news UR is to the soul...I'd like to label that PART 1.  I'd suggest we recognize there's a PART 2...that it does open up thoughts and other avenues wrt a very complicated, personal issue for many...depression, anxiety, loss, that may be really helpful to be discussed...but I don't think that was Tony's focus with the OP.  If I'm missing it Tony, let me know...that's what I think and I may be wrong...So, IMO, nothing wrong with discussion, but maybe we need to separate it out (rightly divide it) so we're talking about apples and apples  .  My  :2c:.

God's blessing, James.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

YY, no, UR did not 'cure' my depression.  Even God, in His wisdom does not keep us from nor immediately lift depression.

Even though the original post was meant for humor, it did promote some interesting discussion, n'est pas, Tony?

A family member said something incrediably rude to me, I blew my top I got angry.
I just didn't know what else to do, it took me totaly off guard since I didn't feel a bit appreciated.
I wrote it down in a diary of sorts, I honestly believed I felt God smile at me, at mine her pettiness.
When I felt the smile then I smiled and just fine now praise the Lord.
I have my down days once in a while, but it don't last. :cloud9:

That is so true and verified to me.
I was petty and repented to God and apologized to the offender.
God is showing me I am to easily offended, when I saw this I felt God smile on me like hey you finally see.
I was actually more guilty than the offender, but God smiled and all is well for now.
What can I say I am a work in progress.  :laughing7:

He was despised

Despised and rejected

Rejected of men

A man of sorrows

A man of sorrows

And acquainted with grief

Speaking of rainbows . . . there's a song I like that speaks of them . . .

WHEN I SEE THE LIGHT
AS IT MINGLES WITH WATER
IT ALWAYS PRODUCES RAINBOWS
IN THIS LIGHT OF YOUR GLORY
AND THE RAIN OF YOUR SPIRIT
PRODUCES IN ME A NEW HOPE

I AM YOUR CHILD,
MY NAME MAKES YOU SMILE
YOU DELIGHT IN ME
I AM REDEEMED

I WILL RISE UP AS AN EAGLE
AND LET YOUR SPIRIT CARRY ME
IT'S THE PROMISE OF THE RAINBOW
I'M IN YOU, AND YOU'RE IN ME

MY HOPE'S IN YOU,
YOU'RE THE PROMISE IN ME
LET THIS RAINBOW SHINE
SO THE WORLD CAN FINALLY SEE

Paul, who knew the Scriptures probably better than all of us combined wrote this:

In everything, being afflicted, but not distressed; perplexed, but not despairing;" persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not perishing -" always carrying about in the body the deadening of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body." For we who are living are ever being given up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh." So that death is operating in us, yet life in you."
(2Co 4:8-12)

While UR may not "cure" maladies afflicting mankind, at least it and other truths should "bring joy and peace in believing" at least to some degree.

Rom 15:13 Now may the God of expectation be filling you with all joy and peace in believing, for you to be super-abounding in expectation, in the power of holy spirit."

When I was a young teen and had my share of problems, (to make a very long story short) God opened my eyes to the belief that Christ died for my sins on a hill behind my parent's house under a star studded sky. Oh the joy! I hopped, skipped and jumped and laughed all the way home. There have been many days of trials since that day. But what has always gotten me through them was when I remember ALL that the Father has given me and will yet bless me with in the future in calling me, choosing me, justifying, reconciling and making me righteous to name just a very few.

The original post of this thread was meant to be funny as if it were mimicking the commercials heard on T.V.

As long as we concentrate on the things above and not on the earth we will go through life much better than those who have no expectation at all no matter what it is that bugs us. Do I at least hear one Amen! to that?

Tony
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

Our church does . . .I wrote it.  Cardinal sent out a wonderful post last week and when I read it . . . it's like what Tony is referring to about having the joy . .when I read her stuff . .this  . . . this "unction" . . . this spirit of praise just welled up in me as a result and I pmed her the words of the feeling that her words really inspired in me . . .and later, I took it to the keyboard and made a song out of it as well . . .

Card, this is going to be just a little different than the original . .. I tweaked it a bit.  But 90% of it is still the same.

GLORY TO MY GOD

GLORY TO MY GOD AND HIS MERCY IN MY LIFE,
I WANT TO WORSHIP AND MAGNIFY HIS NAME
WE'VE BEEN CALLED AND CHOSEN
TO ILLUMINATE HIS LIGHT
SO ALL CREATION MAY BE CHANGED
SO ALL CREATION MAY BE CHANGED

TO THE ALPHA, AND OMEGA
MY BEGINNING AND MY END
GREAT JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH JIREH
GOD OF THE LIVING, NOT OF THE DEAD

I LIFT MY HANDS UP AND GIVE YOU PRAISE
I GIVE YOU GLORY MY ANCIENT OF DAYS
HEAVENLY FATHER YOU'RE MY LAKE OF FIRE
THE ONLY WAY TO TRUTH AND LIFE

Beautiful, Nathan!

Thanks . . . we pretty much sing only stuff that I've written anymore.  We still have the traditional worship choruses and songs but we seldom sing the songs of another anymore.  These new songs are where "we" are at "now" and they've become a part of us as God reveals to us new things, new songs come from those new things and as we sing them out, they seem to really go deeper within.  It's a pretty cool trade-off.
