Hi Loving Hope,

Thank you soooo very much for sharing that.  Too many people like Martin De Porres still make house and hospital calls to where after a while, after you've heard enough hundreds of these stories, this whole planet sounds like reruns of Michael Landon's old show "Highway To Heaven."  I love it when I hear stories about the guy that I'm named after having made an appearance like that.  That absolutely made my day 'cause it's just one more testimony to the fact that Christ Jesus has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.

Has anyone ever heard of "The Ghost of Flight 401" -- the phenomenon itself, not the book or movie?  Evidently after this particular crash, the pilots who accidentally caused the accident made several well-documented appearances on other planes in the fleet, all in attempts to keep the passengers and crew safe.  One near-death experience website has a particularly good description of it, but if you Google it, you'll find plenty of informative websites and a section on Wikipedia.  Personally I find it really creepy and cannot read about it this close to my bedtime.  The part about the infrared oven really gets me.

If these guys are for real, it seems that God let them come back a few times to do some good in the world.  Still not sure what I think about all this . . .

Years ago I went to eat Sunday noon with a young deacon and his wife after the meeting we had way out in the country.  After dinner the brother said, "Come with me.  I want to show you something."  He went ahead of me up the stairs into the attic, telling me to follow.  I did.  As I went through the opening in the floor on up into the attic it was as though I was entering some invisible colder non-physical substance.  He asked me if I experienced anything when I came up into the attic.  I let him know I thought it strange he would ask and told him what had happened to me.  He said the same thing happened to everyone who came up there.

Then he asked me if it seemed like there was a center, a location where this feeling or presence was strongest and if I could point it out.  I looked around for just a moment because I definately felt it much strong under the eaves behind where we'd come up into the attic.  I told him so and pointed it out.  He said that everyone he knew of had the same experience.  He said that when they bought the house, at that location in the attic they found box after box after box of pornography piled there, which they took out and burned.

Then he told me they found out that the house had been uninhabited for 7 years before they bought it.  The only previous occupant had personally built it fom the ground up.  Around 40 years old, he had been arrested connected to a rape charge.  While in jail they discovered he was possibly linked to 4 rape/ murders, maybe many more.  He had then killed himself in jail so the investigations ceased.

A friend related this story to me.  As a single mother with 4 kids she'd rented a house that was at least 5 miles off the road on a dirt path in Colorado.  She really liked the spacious views, grassland and trees all the way to the mountains in the distance.  It was a wonderful place to raise her kids, specially the boys.  After a couple years the landlord visting her asked why she kept all the windows in all directions in the whole house wide open to the views except for that one on the first floor with the shades down and drapes drawn.  She told him, while she loved the place, was very much at peace and felt safe there, she just felt too uneasy every time she tried to leave that window uncovered so had to close it over again and had come to just leave things that way all the time for most of when she lived there.

He told her that the man who built the house had a business that caused him to travel a lot.  He was found sitting with his feet up on the sill of that window.  He had killed himself with a shotgun in his mouth.  They thought he had been distraught over his wife leaving him for another man.  They had been newly-weds and he had built the house for her.  With the thaw the next spring water flowed in an arroyo, washing away soil from a bank where some coyotes nosed out the bodies of two women.  What apparently had actually happened was the young husband had come back from a trip a few days earlier than expected and found his wife in bed with another woman.  He had killed them both, buried them in the bank of that arroyo in a spot that he was looking at out of the window when he died, the window that had to be kept covered.
