I went to this link, and even though I did not read it "end to end", there are (IMO) many aspects which this person observes which are questionable...

On a personal note... I was an SDA (7th Day Adventist), for several years (and I am STILL friends with many folks in that particular church), as well as being quite aquainted with Sabbath observance... Don't get me wrong... the Sabbath (4th commandment) is without question part of the LAW of GOD...  And I do not condemn anyone for observing it, as God moves them to do so...

However... I also think that the Sabbath is more than just a LAW in the TEN Commandments...

It is the PLACE where GOD RESTS... and CEASES from His WORK... it is also SANCTIFIED, and BLESSED with HOLINESS... Most Sabbath observers (of which I know MANY) do not even KNOW what this "Santification" and "Holy blessing" ...actually are...

In my studies of the Sabbath, I believe that the Father has given me the knowledge of that "Blessing"... and that "Sanctification"...

These things (rest, ceasing from work, sanctification, and holy blessing) go beyond the doings of MEN in their observances of the Sabbath... They are done by GOD, ...and without understanding of what these are, ...I believe that those who observe the Sabbath are observing it INCOMPLETELY...

I dont want to go into this on the board, but would be happy to give my take on these things via PM...

There are several other aspects (I just "skimmed" over these supposed) "7 deceptions", which I see as DECIEVED in part themselves...  :dontknow:

If you have a particular item he mentions, that you wish to discuss, let's do it...  :wink1:

DECEPTION #7
NO SABBATH    (Col 2:16 & Rom 14:5)
COLOSSIANS 2:16 ?

Col 2:16 does not indicate the passing away of the SABBATH, it just notes that we are not to JUDGE one another, concerning the observance of HOLY DAYS, new moon's or the SABBATH.

Rom 14:5 does not even mention the SABBATH! It just comments as does Col 2:16, that our business is with the LORD concerning this issue, NOT with JUDGING other MEN, and their OBSERVANCE of such DAYS...

CHRIST came to FULFILL the LAW, ...NOT... to DESTROY it!

Matt 5:17 THINK NOT... that I am come to DESTROY the law... OR the Prophets, ...I am NOT come to DESTROY, but to FULFILL.

He LIVED within its parameters... and only the CARNAL judgment of MEN, observed Him as "breaking" the law... especially the SABBATH...

There are too many other things to click on in that thing that might confuse or upset someone. Maybe you can modify it outta your quote

Yeah, I figured it was SDA. For some reason that one keeps biting at me though. Thanks for eliminating that link. This thread is so bothced (completely because of me) :icon_jokercolor: I'm temped to start it from scratch :laughing7:

One thing I do know, is that Jesus was repeatedly accused of breaking the Sabbath law in the Bible. And a certain Rabbi has a list of why modern day Jews don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, and Him breaking the Sabbath is of course on that list.

Brian

There is the LETTER of the LAW, which CARNAL observers cling to, and use to judge others accordingly...

And there is the SPIRIT of the LAW... in which is found COMPASSION and LOVE, that CHRIST taught the Pharisees, and they refused to hear... instead, the observance of the LETTER of the LAW being violated by Him in their eyes, gave them a reason to KILL Him...

His referenced example of the animal, falling in the ditch on the SABBATH... and then, being left to suffer its injuries, until the SABBATH was passed, displays the missing of the SPIRIT of the LAW, in order to satisfy the LETTER... COLD, INCOMPASSIONATE, and without RESPECT of LIFE...

CHRIST came to fulfill the LAW, by showing that in the SPIRIT the LAW, these basic premises of GOD grew into GREATER and HEAVENLY realms... in which live the LOVE and COMPASSION that was not only due the LIFE of the animal... but the LIVES of men as well...

Interestingly enough... because the LETTER was so important to the JEWS... most of them have been VEILED from seeing that IN CHRIST is the SABBATH of GOD... and IN Him, is the REST (Sabbath) OF GOD, found...  :sigh:

willieH: Hi Brian... :hithere:

I am admittedly not a "scholar"... but believe that God has blessed me with understanding concerning the issue of the SABBATH...

I began my "Christian" experience in the SDA church (Sabbath believers)... and further study took me out of that particular church, but the SABBATH has remained with me, albeit with a deeper understanding of it...

I'll try to convey some of that understanding below... but know that there is much more to the SABBATH, than a "day of worship" (7th Day) or, even than a "Law"... (4th Commandment)... which is how many observe it (SDA's -- letter of the Law), and most (most of Christianity -- do away with Law via GRACE) DISSOLVE it by the work of the CROSS... IMO (InMyObservation), both of these are incomplete...

CHRIST was the FULFILLMENT of what the SABBATH (which was part of the LAW) actually is, in the SPIRIT... and came NOT to DESTROY it... but to FULFILL (complete) it in this realm...

The apologists on the radio say that too. But where is that in Scripture?  "in Christ is the SABBATH of GOD... and IN Him, is the (Sabbath) OF GOD, found"?

Brian

There is no verse that states "IN CHRIST is the SABBATH of GOD"... however... if one carefully and prayerfully reads the Scripture, it is certainly NOTED to be so:

Let me begin by saying...

CHRIST is the WORD of GOD manifest in Physical and Audible terms, that those who deal in those terms (humans), might gain understanding...

YHVH God and His WORD are INSEPARABLE... what IS to one, IS to the other... for they are ONE and the SAME...

In the WORD is noted the REST of CHRIST

Heb 4:4-11

4...for he spake in a cetain place of the sevent day on this wise, and God did REST on the seventh day from all His works...
5...and in this place again, if they shall enter INTO My REST...
6...Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was FIRST preached [JEWS] entered NOT in because of unbelief...
7...Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying in David, today, after so long a time, as it is said, today, if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts
8...for if JESUS had given them REST, then would He not afterward have spoken of another day.
9...there REMAINETH therefore, a REST to the people of God.
10...for he that is ENTERED into His REST, he also hath CEASED from his OWN WORKS, as God did from HIS...
11...Let us labour therefore to enter in THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of UNBELIEF.

This is [in part] a quotation of Ps 95:11 and indicates the REST of GOD... which is the SABBATH -- Gen 2:2

Paul above speaks in Heb 4:9-10... that when we enter into the REST (SABBATH) of GOD... we CEASE from our WORK as did He... Which is to put "our will" to rest... and enter into His WILL...

CHRIST thereby becomes the "worker"... as Paul describes elsewhere:

Gal 2:20 ...I am crucified with CHRIST, nevertheless I live, yet NOT I, but CHRIST liveth IN ME... and the LIFE which I now LIVE in the flesh, I LIVE by the FAITH OF, the Son of GOD... who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

1 Cor 15:31 ...I protest by your rejoicing which I have in CHRIST JESUS our Lord, ...I DIE DAILY...

He is noting that he has DIED unto himself, and is CRUCIFIED with CHRIST, and that the LIFE that PAUL was living was CHRIST ...living HIS [CHRIST's] FAITH, ...in him [Paul]...

When we become IN CHRIST... we no longer do "our will", but HIS... putting "our will" to REST... and thereby enter into the REST of YHVH, which is CHRIST...

As I stated earlier... the SABBATH is a picture of CHRIST and the REST of GOD... and the resurrection of CHRIST and when it took place, has everything to do with the REST of GOD...

It is a difficult discussion, and only will be recieved by those seeking it... which is why I said that I would convey it via PM... Most will scratch and claw in the name of tradition against what I have to say... and I am just not gonna go there at this time...

In a nutshell:  The SABBATH is pictured in the RESURRECTION of CHRIST... for it is IN that RESURRECTION that GOD blessed the SABBATH and made it HOLY...

Matthew 11:28

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Every day in Christ is the Sabbath.

Lev 16:31

It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute forever.

Mat 11:29

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

That's a great illustration, Brian.  We are either watching with him or sleeping [dead].

Luke 6:5

And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Nathan

The Sabbath is not about a day, nor is it about an action.  Like everything else Jesus ever said or did, it ALL has a spiritual relevance, a dimensional meaning.  The Sabbath is a person.  God did not make man for the Sabbath . . .he made the Sabbath for man.  God used natural men's lives to illuminate the truth of His son.  He did not create us for Christ, He sent Christ for us.

The reason why Jesus broke the Sabbath law so much was because it wasn't just a law that he was breaking, it was a mold made by man that needed to be broken.  Our man spends so much time focussing on trying to apply spiritual truths with our natural means when there really is no work required at all on our part.  That includes our working minds trying to figure things out.  As we mature, opposite of our natural eyes, our spiritual eyes are able to see more and more clearly.  Our minds to come into the same understanding, but only after our minds come into submission to our spirits.

Matthew 12:8
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

This passage is in three of the four gospels.  When God rested on the seventh day, it was yet another pattern that manifests the Glory of the Son.  There are 6 days of labor.  6 being the number of man.  Our ego, the center of our flesh operates out of a works-based reasoning.  We have to mull things over and over before we allow any conclusion to form.  That's why there's so much discussion over the things of God.  Our working minds just can't grasp the concept of achieving the same goals through resting instead of working.

But When we enter into the 7th day where all things are full and complete, "there" we will find Christ and our prepared places where we are also to be "seated" (place of rest) next to him.  We're not standing, we're not fighting, we're not defending . .we are "seated" with him in high places . . . the working mind can not enter into this day.  Lay the thing down and let the Spirit carry you into this place.  Many are already there, but the mind continues to cast shadows of doubt at us in order to retain it's control over us.

The 7 days of the creation week is also on view here.  Peter said, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8)  This has to mean something!  I know some on this forum find difficulty with this issue of our present time being possibly somewhere near leaving the 6th day and entering the 7th.  I still believe it was important enough in the context of "the promise of His coming/presence" (vs.4) for Peter to say, "...be not ignorant of this one thing..." (vs. 8).  While slightly a diversion from this thread, I would say there are 2 issues to regard in this:  1.) We don't know for certain what the exact time is in this 7 thousand years, where we are; though, I suppose, it may be better known to some more immersed in the study of such things.   2.) We don't know for certain who and how many are already entering into the fulness of salvation, Overcomers with victory over death and continuing on into ascension; though, I suppose, it may be better known to some more immersed in the experience of such things.

Many seem stopped at the first day.  Light has dawned.  Is that all there is?  Actually, it isn't until having gone through the processing and development of night and day repeatedly that we come to the 6th period in which the image of God appears.  It has yet more ahead.  It must walk into the 7th day which has no night and become the instrument of God's dominion over all things.  This corresponds to the 7 great biographies in Genesis.  All comes our of Adam (= likest).  The 2nd period where there is a celestial and a terrestial nature revealed, the initiation of reproduction, we have Cain and Abel, the carnal and spiritual mind.  Of course, "The Third Day He will raise us up and we shall live before Him."  Noah (= Stop) is the portrait here, inheriting the world, portraying resurrection life.  This may be continued through to the culmination in Joseph (= Increaser) who is owner and ruler of the world, the same end God means for us to achieve in our full maturity.

Both in our individual progress, corporately as the bride, and, further, in the culmination of world history we see the Sabbath (the Stopping -- ceasing from our own labors to have faith's rest of entering the works of God) has much meaning.

There is what is to me one of the top ten Christian books now available free: Types in Genesis by Andrew Jukes.  It will help any believer who reads to grasp something of the depth of the Word.  Here's the link:

You could write a book on that, Reformer.  On how we go through the 7 days.  On how we go through all the types and shadows in the Old Testament, priest, king, prophet, ending with the Christ.  On how He rolls the whole thing up like a scroll at the end, back to the beginning--in the beginning was the Word.

I agree we are near the end of the 6000 years.

I tell you we are coming to something in God.  As I say this I feel power like electric rain upon me.  I've seen in visions that there are saints already ascending in the currents of spirit wind up over the immense hurricane of fire that will dispel the covering of darkness that is over the Church!  Delinated flames of fire that make up that hurricane are being sent forth to unite with various members of the body of Christ.  Change is coming!

On various days across a couple of weeks a few months ago God gave me a series of mostly visions upon waking.  One was I became aware I was awake and had been summoned into a higher realm and  I was in it.  It was more than the height of my head above me.  Whether another dimension or just higher in what we are already, spirit, soul and body I'm not certain.  It was like a cloud of white light, though confined to around and over me.  In the course of these visions I saw what had seemed a small wave coming ashore that it turned out I was standing in the midst of, and, when I was in it, this crystalline wave proved to be more than my head's worth over my head.  But the next wave was so huge I didn't even see the top of it.  The Lord is moving and it will increase; but, what is coming is so beyond this that's unfolding right now it can't even be described adequately.  That next wave after this, a "Tsunami" of the Spirit, whether it will or not, the possibility exists it may prove to be what God is actually going to do that many have instead called "the 2nd Coming."  Jesus is the seed.  Now is approaching the harvest of the crop brought forth from that seed.  To the best of my understanding, the next thing on the prophetic agenda as seen in The Feasts of the Lord is The Barley Harvest.  It is the beginning of The Feast of Tabernacles which is the consummation of our salvation, beyond 30 fold Passover born of the Spirit, beyond 60 fold Pentecost gifts and teaching of the Spirit all the way into the full placing into sonship of the physical realm, our embodiment taken into incorruptible immortality.

This is so exciting for me to read your stuff you guys!  Reformer I can't agree with you more!  We ARE seeing the SON SET on the days of the labor of man and the night of understanding is coming to a close in those that are not just called, but also chosen for such a time as this.  And I do agree that this natural earth is going to be exposed to the rising of the Son on the 7th Day. . .I believe that just as any normal day, long before the sun actually breaks the horizon in the early morning hours, it's light foretelling of it's arrival has already pushed the dark of night completely aside and even though the earth may not yet see the actual Son rising on the 7th day yet, I do believe we are right now experiencing the fore-running light that is pushing away our darkness of understanding.

I also have been studying up on the literal time-table of man.  A day is as a thousand years . . .it's a golden key leading to prophetic truth.  What you are speaking of with this 7th day thing is the same as the book of Revelation speaks of with the thousand year (a day) reign of Christ . . .it's all about the Sabbath!  It's spiritually, Zechariah 4 where it speaks of the golden candlesticks with tubes connecting them to the two trees . .out of the trees comes the oil to keep the fire constantly burning in the candlesticks . .the light is illuminating continually . .the difference with this picture and others dealing with the tabernacle is . . .NO WORK/LABOR IS REQUIRED OF THE PRIESTS!!

The holy of holies has dimensions of 10x10x10 . . .that is the mathematical equasion of 1000.  When the veil was torn from top (my mind) to the bottom (my walk), the realm of rest was poured out into the holy place . .so that all of it is engulfed into the finished works of Christ.  No more need for arguing with others about who's right and who's not in this realm . . .it's all about Christ, not about the rightness or wrongness of men.  It's all about the person of rest . .who is now within  us!

Rest doesn't mean I stop doing what I'm called to do . ..it means I don't work at it.  I don't labor with it . .I simply "function" in it because that's what the Holy Spirit has equipped us to do . .to function in the body of Christ.  Blessed are the PEACE MAKERS . . . this thing just posted and I wasn't done!!  "Peace makers" are those who are functioning in REST.  Peace and rest go hand in hand.

Last thing . . .dealing with the literal coming of the 7th day . .. according to the Jewish calendar, it's quite a bit off from our calendar . .by hundreds of years . . . there will always be arguments about "when" things will transpire in this natural earth . . .but we are not called to walk according to the limitations of the flesh.  We are called to walk in the spirit and it's there that all things are full and complete.  The day of the Sabbath is always and forever . . .it's the yesterday, today and forever . .in other words . . you can't measure the Sabbath by natural means.  When you enter into the Sabbath IN THE SPIRIT . . .it's our responsibility to call it out IN THE FLESH . . .that's what FAITH is!!  Calling out the things that aren't as though they are??? Yes???  Because spiritually . . .they really ARE!!  It's just that the natural needs the release . .the permission from the Spiritual . . .the earth (natural) groans (longs for) to see (receive spiritual vision) the sons of God . . .the natural realm is waiting for us to start calling out things as though they are . . .the power to loosen and to bind is upon you . .but you have to enter into where all things are already complete before you can fulfill your destiny in manifesting the Glory of the Son upon the earth.

And I can't release that on this earth until I first experience it in "my" earth.  My mind can not be my governing force in this . . .it MUST come through my Spirit!  So that negates the argument of the calendars of men not measuring up to the promises of God.  We ARE seeing the dawning of the Seventh day . . .and what day follows the 7th?  The 8th day comes . .and in the 8th day is . . .the New Beginning!!

The days of labor were measured by the night (it was evening and it was morning) But the Seventh day was not . . .when we enter into the Seventh day, there is no ending, there is no more night . .there is no limitations to the boundaries of Rest . . . makes ya almost want to just breakout in a priase with other tongues!!!  Acutally, what I just wrote was just that . .this is a whole new language of Truth God  is bringing to us through the outpouring of the Spirit revealing the Truth of the Nature of Christ.

Once a year, the High Priest goes into the Most Holy Place, first making atonement for himself, and then for all of Israel.

29And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

30For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

31It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

32And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

33And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

34And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

--Lev 16

But, we have a  High Priest under a different order--initiating us  into an eternal sabbath--entering into the Most Holy Place once and forever--

11If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

15And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

17For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

18For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

20And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

21(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

An interesting thing or two exists within the account of Creation... concerning the "Sabbath"...

It is the ONLY "DAY" Created by YHVH, which does not mention:  "and the evening and the morning were the..._______ day"

No "evening OR morning" are attibuted or mentioned concerning the 7th DAY...

The Creation was FINISHED (Gen 2:1)... then the SABBATH REST of GOD, appeared...  :cloud9:

Among CHRIST's final words were:  IT is FINISHED...

CHRIST did not "break" the Sabbath concerning the SPIRIT of the LAW... He "broke it" in the eyes of those observing the LETTER of the LAW...

The SABBATH was a GIFT and BLESSING (rest) ...which was made for man, and is that which comes with the SPIRIT... not a BURDEN and CURSE, which comes with the LETTER... As Brian has quoted the indication of Apostle Paul in Gal 3:10

The SABBATH preceeded LAW... for no LAW was given in its institution at Creation...

The SABBATH was NOT destroyed... rather was FULFILLED by JESUS CHRIST,  which  IS the SABBATH...

Those IN CHRIST, are resting IN the SABBATH of GOD... having ceased from their WORKS... as GOD rested from His...

My  :2c: ---->  This is probably a many layered idea (shortening time)... one of which could possibly  include your suggestion O-T...

Most think this statement [shorten time], means He was going to "move up" the date... but I believe it means what it says... a DAY is becoming less and less time in duration than it once was...

I personally believe that TIME is INCREMENTALLY moving faster and faster, even though we observe seconds, minutes, days, months, years, etc... The old "tick -- tock" of the clock, ...has less INCREMENTAL substance than it once did!

As far as SHORTENING... GOD has ordained A DAY to be the LAST DAY... in which He shall JUDGE the WORLD... Because He has noted that particular DAY means it shall not be changed... however... He certainly DID note "shortening" OF the DAYS... (Matt 24:22)

In other words... for example, ...10 years ago, the duration 1 second of time, may be the equivalent of 4 or 5 seconds in time today... (just a speculationary idea)  :dontknow:

IMO -- Time is definitely increasing the speed it is ACTUALLY moving...

EXAMPLE:  Like a ball rolling down a hill begins its roll with a much slower revolution, than when it has reached the bottom of the hill...

One complete "revolution" of the ball reaching the bottom of the hill, ...is STILL one complete revolution, but the duration of time it takes that "one revolution" to be complete, decreases during its journey down the hill...

In reflection... (I'm 63)... I can tell you that a DAY is definitely SHORTER (goes by faster even though there is still 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hr, 24 hrs per day) than it was when I was a boy...  :scratchhead:

When people say there is not enough TIME in a day to get everything done... I really believe that is a TRUE statement!

Don't know how old you all are, but when you reach my age, if you do... the DAYS will appear to be shorter to you as well... if they dont already...

Again, just my  :2c:

The context of the passage that this idea of shortening of time comes from is not dealing with "our" age ending . . .but "theirs".  The end of the old covenant belief system and the shortening is an act of mercy on God's part that the event that uproots the old belief system will not be an extended one, but it will be fast, furious, and final . . .which was what happened in the year 70 A.D.  There was a slaughtering of a nation like never before and what started at the cross and was exclaimed in the temple through the tearing of the veil, finalized in the destruction of a people where not one stone was left upon another . . .the entire belief system was wiped out . . NEVER TO BE RESURRECTED AGAIN . . .even though there are so many believers that believe there will be a reviving of the animal sacrifices . . .when God closed the door to the ark, no man could open it.  When God joins a man (spirit) and woman (soul) together . .no man (carnal nature) can separate it.

The reason the temple had to be removed was because it was never intended to be a permanent system.  it was merely a supplement until the time came for the substance to manifest.  The shortening of days was a merciful act of God to preserve the seed of his life, a remnant that would replenish the earth once again . .we are the recipients of those planted seeds.  We are the result . . .we are the harvest.
