Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Strongs definitions

Ihsou/j Iesous {ee-ay-sooce'}
Meaning:  Jesus = "Jehovah is salvation"

hw"hoy> Yehovah {yeh-ho-vaw'}
Meaning:  Jehovah = "the existing One"

"God is salvation" or "God saves" are both correct 'translations' I think.
My question is about the word "is"
The word "is" most definitely means that God can/will save.
But to what extend?
Is the name Jesus a direct UR quote? => saves all
Or does it just mean that God saves but to a unknown extent?
Yes I know there are many 'saves all' verses; and I agree with them.
So right now it's just about the word "is" or the word "Jesus"

I don't understand the problem with the word "is". If "Jesus is salvation" then wouldn't that be like a permenant absolute thing? Wouldn't that be the same as saying "God is Spirit".

It's not a problem.
Perhaps its just because I'm just apply Dutch 'grammer logic' on English.
For me 'is' makes the statement stronger.
Similar to: "Jesus saves" and "Jesus really saves"
