Good job! I like it! ..seems so simple, doesn't it? Just go back to the original words.. without the pre and non-Christian beliefs, become assumptions, of the culture at the time the bible translating occurred.. And - accept what God's promise/word says - as You pointed out "savior of the world" - "If I be lifted up from the Earth" (on a cross) "I will draw aLL to me." Man.. we SO underestimate He who created (programmed!) the universe..

I remember seeing this article by Matt Slick a couple of years ago, I think your replies are right on.

I went back to his website to see if he had changed....NO!

He's a tough nut to crack.  If he ever does come around he would really have a good testimony.  All we can do is pray for him. 

p.s. I enjoy finding out a little about people on the "Welcome Central" board.  Maybe you could make a short (or long) post.  This 'tent' is full of amazing people!

Baby steps , we can see that leaps of faith are a no no .But here is a leap of faith  answer for all the Matt Slicks of the universe

Gods wisdom is  impossible to fathom with mans logic ..
Only the Spirit of God is the  everlasting eternal and  absolute  .
  Like a circle , the Beginning and End  are always ''connected '' and in its center is everything  past , present and future , was is and will be all in all  ..

Helpful  and very simple  understanding come   for many of us  when we  realized   a few things   and verses that cannot be  anything but Gods  WORD and hearing it  speak in your new ears to hear His Voice and LIVE and new heart to even begin to understand it  because you are made by His Spirit of Life and new creature in Christ   , this is How the pure in heart will see God also  with those new eyes to SEE HIM  , because it a''  Holy Spirit ''  of Love and Fire .
God is described with  the purest  forms   of LIFE
There is nothing existing outside  HIM  period , ever .

  Christ is the new and incorruptible name  every creature made new ,BY HIM ,will be named  , everyone will   have this new  name  because  they also  bore the old corruptible name of Adam  [every name under heaven ]  every earthly sensual and devilish    name  was purposed in God  , for His glory     , truth is made known by the wisdom of God as the lies are  revealed by fire  and the Light  of that fire  consuming it .
The simple  scripture  in Adam  all , not some , not a few , not many , but ALL   , from the beginning to the end  [a circle of  life and death ] and made new  within this circle  of SPIRITUAL LIFE .
Everything   within this  circle seems like chaos  and  separating  , and dividing  and ending and beginning and making new as the old  changes and dissipates      the Love and Fire consumes it  ALL   ...

and in CHRIST  shall be made ALIVE ,  '' this anointing ''of Gods Holy Spirit   is the substance of faith [ In the Lord Jesus Christ ] that sets the whole world on fire   , the incorruptible  seed , Word of God / Truth    setting the whole world free 

  Just as the scriptures states    we all would be as Sodom and Gomorrah  unless God had left us the incorruptible seed / or substance    of faith  , from this  very seed  or Word of God being the name the Lord Jesus Christ  by which there is no name UNDER heaven by which you must be saved  ,,,,,
   but in HEAVEN  THE NAME IS THE WORD OF GOD  ...  the revealing  , unveiling or revelation  of Christ says so

...12He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows. 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God. 14The armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and pure, follow Him on white horses....


  the Lord Jesus Christ is also descriptive of a flame and blaze of fire  , He come to baptize  the world with Holy Spirit  & fire
  to dry up the dragons flood     that the earth helped the  Woman /body of Christ/ true church   , by  swallowing up this flood of lies and only the Fire of Gods jealous Love   will consume it   all  ..   

So to me the  book is  a testimony and witness   of the Lord Jesus Christ  and how the WORD & SPIRIT  of GOD  change and make everything new  and purified   by His glorious   presence !
So the big picture   is GOD really will be all in all     1 Cor 15 The Order of Resurrection  , because the LIFE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT  really will bring new Life back again from the dead ..

...27For "God has put everything under His feet." Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him.

28And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.

To believe God is everything     and to hear His Voice over everyone else   is key , there is a written word   and it is called dead letters because  the Spirit is not breathed into them yet  , some are these whom still teach death with the carnal mind  to this day  and yet they also will be changed   , there is the  hearing Word those that hear His voice will live   ,

and the Living word  that is Christ  doing exactly what HE promised to do  for the whole world ...    the Christ in you is the hope of Glory to God the   Father of all  and in you all  :HeartThrob:  LOVE COVERS THE MULTITUDE OF SIN AND ERRORS !!!! GOD IS LOVE &FIRE that is how He will make it pure and holy by being in His presence .

ps the false christs  are not anointed of God  or are they?  Do they serve God in the sense of this ,  that ALL the scriptures must be fulfilled  , are they purposed in God only to be changed  by Him in a twinkling of an eye ?

The truth will set you free  , there is no name,  but  God when He is all in ALL ..  we wait for  this with great hope in our hearts,    to know this  completely   ONE DAY  ..  HIS DAY OF THE LORD .. the patience of the saints,'' holy ones'' purified by His presence and fire  called   to proclaim the glory of God in the earth as it is in heaven ....

The word used in 1 Sam 3:14, translated in some versions as "forever", is "olam" a Hebrew word that does not mean "forever".

In Gen 6:4 it means in the distant past....

Those were the mighty men who were of old(olam), men of renown.

In Exodus 21:6 it means  what remains in a mortal lifespan...

"then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life."(olam)

So you see, olam does not mean forever, it refers to an time with an indefinite ending, forward or backward, which can be forever, or not.

Matt Slick just doesnt look that hard. He fires from the hip with the prejudice of a typical religionist, with the common ammunition of religianity- othodoxy and tradition.

He reminds me of Paul, before his conversion...... I pray that someday the Lord knocks him off his high horse. :o)

I think Matt Slick if he's using this 1 Sam 3:14 as a way to say that there is no way God will forgive or atone the house of Eil through animal sacrifices should read Hebrews 10:4:

Hebrews 10:4-For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

..Amen.. lately when hearing a person defend (the popular cultural myth of) hell, to me, they seem so cold.. so arctic.. shudder.. Which of course becomes the idea the heavenly father is cold.. arctic.. Which of course is not possible. :gsmile: :dsunny: :dsunny:

And, amen! I always love an olam explanation, especially as I'm not sure I have the understanding nailed firmly in place yet.. (or I forget, oy!)

If Jesus died for the sins of the whole world and is the Savior of the whole world, where is there room for a burning hell?  If our sins are forgiven, past, present, and future, what do we go to hell for? Is it for something besides sin? If that is so, then wouldn't we all go to hell?  If the debt for sins are paid for by Christ, what are we sent to hell for?

Is it for something besides sin? If that is so, then wouldn't we all go to hell?  If the debt for sins are paid for by Christ, what are we sent to hell for?

Agreed! I have heard a response to this before, though. They would simply respond that "God has taken that 99 steps to you, he has done 99% of the work. All you need to do is that 1%, and BELIEVE! He welcomes you with open arms and loves you so much that He gives you this opportunity to be with Him." That is sort of a paraphrase, but I have actually heard that before. They would also say that unbelief is a sin, and (apparently) the line when you can be saved ends at your death. If this life is simply a test, then that would truly be an arbitrary time limit. This life is but a blip of time in eternity. And anyways, what makes you think that your will can stop God's plan for the ages?

If non belief is a sin then that sin has been paid for by Christ. If hell is a payment for sin wouldn't Christ have to have been in hell for a period of time... or still be in hell... to pay that penalty?
