I listened to one day of daily bible readings last week on biblegateway dot com and numbers 10 was the reading which is about how trumpets were sounded for ancient Israel as calls to assembly.. two blasts was for all the people to gather at the door to the tent of meeting.. one blast was for the leaders to gather...

IMO, salvation is not the issue (because all will ultimately be saved), but the level of reward, and THAT, we must press in for. That's all....my  :2c: Blessings...

I understand, thanks :)

I think we press in to partake in the first resurrection. To me, pressing in is walking in the simplicity of love and faith in practical ways such as kindness, forgiveness, patience, trust, faith and love. These are the evidences that we "know Him".

Anyone who lives in such a away will suffer for the sake of righteousness.

I think a lot of people think pressing in is about zealotry, intensity and depth of knowledge, but none of those things are evidence that one has come to know Him.

If we are overcoming it will be seen in the love and faith and grace that is in Jesus for those who embrace Him and walk as he walked in faithful love and service.... not the "seen" kind either.

"Do your alms in secret..."

"Pray in secret..."

Amen we have one rule.. one law.. "love God". If one truly "loves God" they will draw near to Him.. (hang out with Him, and He rubs off onto us! as the saying goes? :dontknow: ) And He/Love will flow out of the heart and truly/sincerely, as full, overflowing love.. (and of course, "love works no ill")

imo, the measuring rod is love... do we love?! (and not just those of our own particular group, "even the unsaved do that!")

... :Chinscratch: :Chinscratch: yet also.. (or including) "if the watchman - watch and pray? - see calamity coming and not warn the city..." Isaiah the prophet said "your land is full of chariots! And is only bruises from head to foot.." And the spirit of Elijah said "the ax is laid to the root"(nation). How wonderful for me if I can discern the signs of the times and be safely "hidden"... yet not seek to pass on those landmarks to others..? As opposed to "blessed are those who hear and heed.." How, will they be blessed to hear, and to heed?

I agree. The watchman on the wall has a responsibility that must be discharged faithfully. But I think that more often than not the call is to walk in the divine nature. To abide in the secret place of the most high. To abide in the Vine.

There is no place to run. There is no place to hide. There is wisdom, but most of all there is trust. Trust God. Love people. Be prepared to give a defense of the hope that is in you.

Then whether you stand or fall. In good times or bad. The glory of God will rest upon you and your place at His table will be secure, your wedding garment will be intact.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. "

Jesus said things like, "Your enemies will be of your own household. Sons will turn on daughters and children will turn on their parents." Paul said that the signs of the end would be...

"For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,..."

Jesus said, "because iniquity abounds the love of many will grow cold".

Definitely all these things are fulfilled.

If we are to shine like lights in this wicked, perverse generation it will not be with words shouted from a street corner, it will be that we remain in the kindness of the Lord. Instructing with patience and longsuffering those who oppose themselves. Holding this fire of love within these clay vessels. Blessing those who curse us. Leaving the testimony behind us- "Jesus was enough for me." " His word sustained my soul" "His love was my True North" "His Spirit illumined my mind".

Just as the "smoke of their torment" becomes a monument in time to the wickedness of men, the incense of our prayers rises up from beneath the altar where we 'wait upon the Lord' in our daily lives.

When the trumpet sounds it is time to get in the secret place of the Most High. Watch, Pray, Wait upon the Lord.

Come Quickly Lord Jesus.

:cloud9: I THINK I posted on here that my daughter was outside at midnight about a month ago and heard a trump sound that went on for several minutes. She said it went right through her it was so real.

Well, I was just talking to a friend of mine who I know hears, that I haven't talked to in quite awhile, and he said he asked God why he was not getting healed, nor anyone he knew getting healed in this time period, and he said God told Him about A MONTH AGO, that we were now in the time of the half hour of silence in heaven. That ties in with the sound of the trump.

Please everyone, press in, the time is short. Those that entered into the promised land were 20 years of age. If you add 20 to the established date (established by a comet in the sky during that time) of His birth, you get 16AD. If you add 2 days (2000 years), you get 2016. I fully believe that everything will be in place by Yom Kippur of Feast of Tabernacles this year. My  :2c: as always....Blessings....

(uh oh.. I got a little long winded.. But interesting! or that is, i will try not to be too boring.. :mshock: )

I have believed that we are in a prophetic pause..

Revelation 7:1-9 - (NIV)

(144,000 Sealed)

1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

Just previous to this, in chapter 6, is what I believe was the "opening" of the split atom over Hiroshima and Nagasaki - described as a blend of this first event and latter day last events (of it) - in other words, the whole seal described here (so early on). I don't know why all the prophecy buffs who are teachers can't seem to perceive that.. This way of describing them, i think, is only logical. [Look how men sailed the huge oceans blue - because of the innate sense of adventure - and solving riddles! :laughing7: and now mankind dreams of space.. "who's out there..?" :laughing7: yes, indeedy.. Who's out there..?]

I can't help thinking the time of silence (Rev 8:1) the Spirit of God was speaking to your friend, i now realize, concludes the pause (vs 7:1)

You see, during this pause of Revelation chapter seven, is when the 144,000 of the tribes of Israel are "sealed on their forehead" - I know there's lots of theories about this and the #, but i'm just looking at the verses.

And picture this.. I heard that this last year at Tabernacles, which is an outdoor feast, the full eclipse of the moon could be seen in Israel. I don't know, but if I was camping outside and there was a full eclipse of the moon, I would be watching it.. and if there were clouds in the way, i'd still spiritually see it, and look it up via computer the next day.. The moon is beautiful in an eclipse.. :gsmile:

I just happened, on the days this thread was running, to decide to listen to a daily bible reading.. why? I never do, never have.. And what was the reading?

Numbers ten which begins explaining the trumpet blasts in which Yahweh would call the tribes of Israel to assemble at the door of the Tent of Meeting. So guess what? One long trumpet sounding is the call for the elders to assemble.

Two, is for the whole nations to assemble (and hear?).. [please let me know if your daughter should later hear two trumpet soundings.. or maybe someone else would hear it.. Or no one else..]

....so the four angels are holding back the winds that they harm not the trees or seas..

2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

verses 5 through 8 the tribes are listed..

then there's verse nine - (spiritual assembly I believe! because they show up in later chapters :smile: )

The Great Multitude in White Robes
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

(I believe these too, were sealed on the forehead; Israel last because of some key verses - "won't see me again until you say 'blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD" Mt. 23:39?/last verse; and Paul's "if their falling away is salvation to the gentiles/great crowd? what shall their gathering be but life from the dead?"(Ro. 10?) i.e. resurrection? which occurs at Jesus' return.. Not that I believe it is imminent.. Too many other things need to occur according to the written word.. (imo) unless the whole world repents and changes (the) course (it is on) (and also because of  the last verse of rev 12 which cross references w/ 16:14-16)

[oh dear, this is getting to be too long..]

Who is this great crowd from every tribe, tongue and nation?   [note: I tend to think this life is great tribulation]

14 .."These are they who have come out of the great tribulation;
they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore,

"they are before the throne of God
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
    will shelter them with his presence. (If the crowd was in the heavenlies, surely? they wouldn't need protection)
16 'Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,'
    nor any scorching heat.

17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
    will be their shepherd;
'he will lead them to springs of living water.'
    'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'"
(Yahweh's telescoping of His Word.. not always in strict order.. He can blend His descriptions)

So what happens next?

Revelation 8 - (NIV)

The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer
8 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God's people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God's people, went up before God from the angel's hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

:Chinscratch: i've always thought the pause of rev 7:1 would end with some split atom event, and then would be the half hour of silence.. a moment of silence.  :Chinscratch: but maybe not.. Perhaps the half hour of (heavenly) silence concludes the pause! Then, verse 5 :idea2: Which looking at verse five.. these i think of as split atom events.. and after this I believe things escalate on the planet.. we currently, since the 1st split atom event, being in a pause of the splitting of the atom (and what they've developed from it, since)

---------------

The Trumpets
6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them. [effects upon earth, some being metaphor.. like ships representing trade; blood waters as contaminated waters..]

7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. [where it occurs?]

8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.
[Joels' smoky day? chap 9, "out of the smoke comes.."]

13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!"

Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you
    from the fowler's snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.

I think I'd have to disagree with the bolded part, as least as far as knowledge goes....we must first decrease for Him to increase. Knowledge of the spiritual kind, is part of the fruit of that decreasing that brought the increase.

Pressing in to me means, get your house in order. We all have things we need to work on, more decreasing to do. My  :2c: Blessings....
