"I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance".Isaiah 45:23

Again, one more thought. I have been thinking about how many times in the Bible, those chosen by God were asked to leave their home and go and follow Him.

Moses, Abraham, Jonah, the Apostles, Mary and Joseph for a while when they fled to Egypt, and to go to Bethlehem, where Jesus would be born.I am sure I could think of many other OT stories of leaving one's home to follow God's call.

And what about this verse:

Luke 14:
25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

28 "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.'

31 "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won't he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.

34 "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.

"Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear."

I always cringe a bit when I read this one.

But, the point is clear. We must be willing to let go of everything and anything of this world, if we are to be His disciple.

He alone must be our 'all in all'.

Which brings us back to Galatians 2:20.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

And, now, I think I have gone full circle with this.

Us in the 'mind of God' to Christ living in us. We become one, with God, until our identity is totally entwined with Him. This goes with many of your quotes, Rosered!      :HeartThrob:

I will leave you with this quote from one of my favorite theologians, C.S.Lewis:

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself."
― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Amen.

THE LIVING GLORIFY GOD   acknowledging HIS LOVINGKINDNESS    and   grace     by sharing the good news  ,  this is how the dead are raised  to life in Christ as we once were ... dead in our sins    ..

   2COR 9 God Loves a Cheerful Giver
...12For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.

13 Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all, \

14while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you....

The LIVING GLORIFY GOD IN THE EARTH      as it is in heaven   , the dead know nothing    and  do not praise Him ..

Amen! ...and you know, i've been thinking lately that everyone, ultimately will be happy with the 'role' they have played in this life (which will prove all truth of what is good from evil aka life from death?)

If being chosen is none of our choice, and also not because we are any better or worse than any others..

Then why would those of the 2nd resurrection/of the not saved during this life time, many if not most never having even heard of Jesus or the gospel.. Why should their restoration be any less 'perfect' than those of the first resurrection (a thousand years earlier). Yes, surely they will have their dying to self/the selfish carnal nature and the burning of regret, etc. yet to go through, but if it is none of our "choice" as to when we are saved/reconciled to God..

I know we know ultimately all will be filled with joy etc, but the role we all play in this life - I am not saying this very well at all! I consider I was saved at the perfect time and all things are working together all my life, for good, including my pre-reconciled days.. So why would that not also be true for everyone, including all those not redeemed and reconciled during this life time??

Just pondering out load.. albeit very clumsily

That God loves all and blesses His enemies, makes me think this way about this.. Potentially we all would perish if we were not rescued by Him, which of course(?) what with His wisdom, He designed the rescue of all from the beginning and surely has great purpose in letting (limited) choice ability run its course.. What a contrast His fulfilled blueprint of paradise perfection will be with this life and human history. It cannot be a universe of all going their own way (good and evil being 'relative' rofl!) for with that always is bound to be oppression.. power struggles... and ultimately all manner of error and evil, a virtual bottomless pit of dark potential. God proving His point by letting consequences run their course.. The false way of all babble (on) drinking the full cup... proving what is good from what isn't / what works from what simply cannot ever work.. But I am rambling..
:Peace2:

AMEN  MARIE !!!!!!!
OUR JOY is the Lord   our peace  Comes from  knowing the Love  of GOD  :HeartThrob:  Isaiah 38
18"For Sheol cannot thank You, Death cannot praise You;

Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

19"It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today; A father tells his sons about Your faithfulness. 20"The LORD will surely save me; So we will play my songs on stringed instruments All the days of our life at the house of the LORD."...

  the living praise God

The dead to not praise GOD   they do not Know God ,   they know nothing but suffering  and loss ...   in the grave where they go  puts them to silence ,
Psalms 31
6Make Your face to shine upon Your servant; Save me in Your lovingkindness.

17Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I call upon You; Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.

18Let the lying lips be mute, Which speak arrogantly against the righteous With pride and contempt....

Even Babylon does not know God  , but in name only       as the beast and  whore of the earth  and false prophet  and satan glorify themselves  as gods of the  earth ...   be made silent   and all mouths will be stopped
only than can every knee    bow and tongue confess the LORD JESUS CHRIST   AND GLORY TO THE FATHER  WHOM IS ALL AND IN ALL

The end shall be total glory to  GOD  :dsunny: :HeartThrob:

Jesus is the reward  !!

"Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash." When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at His teaching, for He taught with real authority—quite unlike their teachers of religious law. // Matthew 7:24-29

Just saw this on an e-mail from a church I had attended a few times.

I had to add it to the list.

Posting these thoughts and quotes and reading all of your responses, has helped me solidify the random thoughts I had originally, about what 'home' means.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
