I need time to review this thread more but the Lord gave me some pretty profound revelation last night as I prayed on this. It appears He drew me to this thread to open my understanding on several major points, so thank you to all who have shared. My time is limited but I'm looking forward to reading and praying on the rest of this, and hopefully share edifying comments.

But check this out, I hope I'm not repeating someone that may have mentioned this earlier in the thread but "...when lust is CONCEIVED it BRINGS FORTH sin..."  So it appears the origin of unclean spirits and sin may be integrally related biblically speaking. I say this because of the many things that began to come to light last night through this line of thinking, and that is often a sign and confirmation in part of the Spirit'S revelation. Anyway, there other things I will try to add later because i'd like to get some input to assure avoidance of error.  Sorry for brevity, appreciate u all. Blessings.

Cory

Meant to touch on the scripture you quoted above. He told me lust is desiring ANYTHING apart from His perfect will for the individual. Everyone automatically assumes it's sexual, but that's not what He's getting at. Just throwin' this out there.....Blessings...

Interesting. So what happens if you don't know his will for you. How would it be a sin if you happen to desire something else. Why is it a sin to desire things like a good book or movie?

  Hi Axerex  ,
You can do His will when you are  doing things like reading a good book or watching a movie ,
Do you stop loving God when you   are doing those things ?
Do you stop loving one another ?

Does God stop loving you  when you do those things?

Jesus said I come to do you will oh God  the whole meat of the matter     , and faith is that very substance    of   getting it all in motion

Without it , we can never please God     .

Jesus is the reward  !!

Aerex--No one said it's a sin to desire a good book or a good movie. You are only responsible for "The Light or Understanding" given you by the Spirit of God.

If you sense in your heart that "HE" does not approve of some book or movie then choose something different. For example if you were to pick up a porn magazine do you think the Holy Spirit might be grieved and you might feel like you'd be ashamed to read it with Jesus sitting next to you. If so choose something else.

You can't go by legal rules or someone else's conscience because that's legalism and you will lose any Joy you have in Jesus. I know because I went down that road too many times. It's a killer!

If you are wanting to walk with Jesus you just want to please Him. He's not against a good movie or a good book or even music that isn't Christian music.
I think what CARDINAL is trying to say-she can correct me if I'm wrong- is that if you love Jesus you are going to want what he wants for you. That is what you will naturally do as you follow "HIS" promptings in your own heart.

He might lead some folks to fast quite a bit to be more sensitive to His Spirit and others may not be led that way so for those others trying to follow the first persons spiritual discipline would not produce the same result. They would be miserable because they are trying in their own strength to please God or earn favor. If it is the Holy Spirit prompting you to any discipline you will have Peace and Joy in following him and you'll sense his pleasure.

I hope this helps as it took me way too many years to accept this as a truth. If you want please go to my website www.gentletouchcreationsministries.com and under the poetry section read the poem "WALKING ON EGGSHELLS"

   Well said !

I just wanted to add some are still under the   old law   of  dying to self ,  that ministry of death
Like you said we try in our own strength and  fail miserably

and some have  already been though that   baptism  of water

It is   also  the  grace of God that the new and living way comes though Jesus Christ       , His law is LOVE     GOD FIRST and your neighbour as yourself   all the law and prophets are hung on them  two  laws ,,,     the old  is fading away and the new is coming in Christ ...   taking up our cross and following Jesus  where ever He leads us by faith and not by sight ...    :HeartThrob:

I do agree  Brother !!

I know it is appointed unto man to die once and than the judgment     Hebrews  9

Redemption through His Blood
...26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

I do  believe that is under the old law [covenant]  working yourself to death by the work of your own hands ,only to   give up
as one dead   waiting  for Jesus to deliver you out of the body of death [ Moses ]  Jude et in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Only the Lord Jesus Christ  can rebuke   satan against us !!

You have past from  condemnation / judgment    death to Life   Romans  8 1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death....

You have pasted from death to Life   1 John 3 ;14 Love One Another
...13Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. 14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him....

Jesus is the Lord of the dead and living   the cross of Jesus Christ  and taking up our cross   and follow Him ....

Romans 14 Do Not Judge Your Brother
...8for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. 10But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God....

Lots to consider when    looking to Jesus Christ for the truth    , His Word is truth         :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

:cloud9: Good posts.....I've always prayed for His perfect will to be done in my life. Sometimes that's not an easy prayer to walk out, but we know that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord.

So an example of NOT doing that, would be the premiere example of Eve, a type of our soul. She DESIRED (lust of the flesh) the fruit, it looked pleasant to the eyes (lust of the eyes), and good to make one wise (pride of life/self-gain). By these 3 we fell, and overcoming these 3 via His Spirit, we will be raised to walk with Him in the cool (means breath) of the day again.

Contrast her reaction with Daniel's who said he would not eat the PLEASANT bread. Blessings....

Let's talk about this for a second. Most of our conscience has been trained from religious dogma since our childhood. If this is the case how can we can trust our conscious. For instance, you brought up pornography saying if Jesus would approve of me reading it. Okay but can you honestly Jesus was a sexual being?  We can't be guessing what Jesus would or would not approve.

All in all, you can't trust your heart either.

Lazarus Short

The key here is what Jesus said was the greatest commandment:  to love your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.  The rest will sort itself out.  I read that yesterday while going thru Matthew as part of Heaven, Yes...Hell, No.  It's slow going - no more of that knock-out-a-minor-prophet per day.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

Aerex-

I agree with Lazarus's post just above this one.

The question you just asked I also struggled with for years. The best way I have to answer you is that if you are sincerely wanting to walk with Jesus
things will become more clear to you. The more you fellowship with him- in the scriptures and in just quiet times with him it will just work itself out in you.
I'm sorry if that seems like a lame answer but that's the best I can do at this time. I'm 68 years old and have had plenty of wrong religious doctrine  and
believed way too much junk during those years (some in outright rebellion) and he still bit by bit-revelation by revelation brought me to a resting place In Him.

He will do the same for you as you seek Him. I sought religion way too much trying different churches and denominations and non-denominations which made my journey a very long one. It's was more like the children in the wilderness-slow going and full of doubt and unbelief. That is what that religious system of man is full of. Jesus by the spirit will speak something to your heart (a revelation) and you'll go to a church and hear everyone believing something else and that wars on your mind. That was a big problem in my journey as it is for many folks.

He wants you to to see him as the best father you could imagine. If you had a good or great natural father it would be helpful. If you did have a good father you probably didn't worry about every single thing you did if he was going to be angry or mad at you. You just grew up bit by bit and learned what he was or was not pleased with. You probably shared things with him and he with you as you grew. That is I believe how God wants to walk with you in my best opinion.

If you had a bad father image and an often critical and overly stern father (as I did) it takes more time I think. The reason I think that is because of growing up understanding a very conditional love. Totally performance based and it kind of trains you to respond that way to God. God will change you since that is
the spirit working in you-somehow he will get his understandings to you even if you are slow to catch on like me. I really was a spiritual basket case for many years and thought it would be nice to just be normal. I prayed that way. God just make me a normal Christian so I too can have some peace and joy and rest.
His idea of NORMAL was much greater than mine. Through many trials-many ups and downs-He brought me to a place of Rest In Him.

Do I still have days of trials-yes! Do I always know 100% what to do-you must be kidding-heck no! But you see I have come to realize the most important thing is that I'm His and He Loves Me. It's all going to work out because HE LOVES ME.  It's because of that finally becoming the greatest understanding in my heart or mind-being 100% convinced of that- I can enjoy him more and have rest in my soul.

I'm sorry if this is not the understanding you need. No one could really get this across to me for years. My wife tried to convince me of how to rest IN HIM but
old habits die hard. I wish there was a quick fix but the bible seems to show it's a learning process and the process can sometimes-no always-be filled with tribulation-we learn obedience by the things which we suffer. Who Are These Arrayed In White Robes-They Which Have Come Through Great Tribulation!

You can't trust your heart, true.

I also don't think we should be living our life based on "what Jesus would or would not approve" without feeling convicted.  That is why people fail when they "try" to be "good."

If you desire pornography (not saying that you do, the "you" here is just for illustration purposes because it was used as an example), and you resist it because you want to do what Jesus would approve, then I am sure your mind will wander and you will have lustful thoughts.  And then you will try to suppress them...we all know how well that works.

We also don't have to guess at what Jesus says in this particular instance because:

Matthew 5:27-28
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Like He1MyHeart said, it is a process, a prayerful process, not on our terms but on His, where you are shaped from the inside out and made new.  There will be a point where you truly won't desire pornography.

If you want to use the law of love, then you can also think it through this way: how does pornography fit in with loving God and your neighbor?  There are lots of resources that will tell you that people who are prostitutes, porn stars, strippers, etc. were often previously sexually abused.  They are sexually exploited and abused in the sex industry as well.  The people involved don't love each other.  Then there are the issues of sexually transmitted disease, unplanned pregnancies that result in abortion, etc.

Finally, a good thing about believing in UR is that you don't have to spend your life worrying about being "right" or "good enough."  "All have sinned and fallen short"... but we can look forward to when "God will be all in all."

I truly believe that no human on this Earth has all the answers.  No one can say they are doing everything right, believing all the right things, etc. etc.  That is what I believe the purpose of this life is.  It is not to earn our way to God...it is about learning what it is like to live apart from God, doing things "our way."  God is letting us work it out ourselves to show us good from evil and as a learning process.  A few of us are blessed to get a glimpse of God here on Earth, and to begin to walk with God and follow his will.  It is part of an awesome cosmic plan that doesn't seem that way yet :)

when I was 8 yrs old..and my little sister was 6 we saw them, too.  I had no concept of demons/ghosts at that time in my life.

However, I had heard of the term 'you must be seeing things"..and so..for 7-10 nights..I would watch these things..never told

a soul about it..and figured that I "must be seeing things" until one night..my little sister freaked out..and when I asked her what was the

matter..she replied 'those things!"   We woke our Granma up..she, of coarse, didn't believe us..turned on the lights and inspected all

the nooks and crannies to assure us nothing was there.  and that was the last of it.

  that was back in 1963.

:cloud9: Interesting. Glad to hear him proclaim the name of the Lord. A lot of the people who talk about these sorts of things aren't and their ignorance and unbelief in the Lord coupled with from bad to worse "advice", just adds to the problems people being faced with these sorts of things.

I, too, have seen shadow people. When first saved, my friend and I would pray every day asking the Lord who to go witness to. We did this for months. One day, He told us to go to my friend's sister. We got in her car to leave, and 2 shadow people jumped up out of the earth in front of the car, and jumped on the hood, and we HEARD the thump as well. We were stunned into silence for several minutes, until I finally said, "Well, there's something you don't see every day. Now what the heck was it??!"

We still went, and found out we weren't sent for her, it was for her daughter who had been dating a Satanist for a year (her mother didn't know) whose mother was a self proclaimed witch. Sharing our testimony to her and her two daughters at first brought snickers and rolling eyes, but the Spirit finally broke through the hardened hearts of her two daughters, and then the truth came out, much to the mother's shock.

We assumed the hood jump was to try to scare us off. It didn't work. We went through constant spiritual attack of one kind or another, while we were witnessing, but that's the only time we saw shadow people. Peace
