Wondering as I have for several years why the translators picked and chose how some words would be offered. In a real sense, in my opinion, this was done to create understanding or misunderstanding.

Knowing that the Lord is at work in all of this, yet (imo) personifying the adversary [which is very real] has produced stories, myths, and fables, just as the word "hell" has misled and of course "Lucifer."

When reading my KJV that without lexicons, concordance, and a dictionary that searching, digging, and mining is troubling to say the least.

In my opinion, translating the adversary as a proper noun has created a natural/carnal imagination that excites, rather than help to discern just what the opponent is and does.

The conventional Satan/Lucifer/devil is about as unsupportable as the conventional Hell/Hades/Infernum.

I noted in my "Heaven, yes - Hell, no" investigation of the book of Job, that Satan did NOT ask God if he could drag Job down to Hell.  Now what kind of lapse is that?  Lots of folks would tell you that that is what Satan wants to do all the time to everyone.  Oh, maybe there was no Hell to drag Job down to?  Maybe Satan is only the Prince of Heck...
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.
