Yet, the letter is a ministration of death. The Spirit is a ministration of life.


2 Cor 3
4And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

7But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.

He did not make us ministers of "a good combination of letter and spirit." He made us ministers NOT of the letter, but of the spirit. The letter brings death:

Romans 7
10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Not a good death. As Romans 7 demonstrates, living by the letter will keep killing you because by falling away from Grace, sin will decieve, and by the commandment will become "exceeding sinful."

The Spirit is the only way unto righteousness, not living by precepts, but by a new walk according to living waters of grace.

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.

Law brings life.

Law brings death.

1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.



Yes, follow the person of the Holy Spirit as they did in the book of Acts, the 'gospel of the Holy Spirit.'


17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,  18 and called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.  19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.  20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.  21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?  22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.  23 Then called he them in, and lodged them.

Unclean meats were hosts for bacteria, these days they are laced with antibiotics, whether for good or for 'evil' time may tell.. But also these days is so many unsafe things, we could worry all day about it.. But perhaps the prayer of thanksgiving sanctifies.. It certainly doesn't hurt to say prayers of thanksgiving for our food, our air.. etc..

To my way of reading it sounds like the Word says - can't remember if it's in Romans 14, or is Colossians 1:16, but it seems to me to be saying to "let no one judge you' (Gentiles) "according to days or meats".. I think otherwise it would say "days other than Sabbath" and also "meats that are not unclean"..

I think our diet can matter to us, but I don't think it matters to God, nor Jesus, during man's ages.. but the only thing that matters is to believe in Jesus, the One the Father sent forth to rescue the world and all in it. I guess I think that is the goal, the primary goal, and the only goal.

..."let each one be fully persuaded in their own mind.." - I've always noticed the word "let" in relation to that verse, but maybe that's just me..
