Jberton - it looks like my wife and I will be in Alabama sometime next spring, in the Auburn area.  We're tired of Carlsbad, and have decided to move in with relatives rather than move into the mountains.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

We're on the opposite side of the state, but you will like Auburn.  Nice town.

my name is George Strickland.  I'm from Goldsboro, NC.  I am a frequent speaker at Goldsboro Friends meeting.  I have spent a great deal of time studying The Society of Friends history and faith and practices.  I am a Christian of 37 years and am convinced that The Friends faith is as solid as the The Rock it is built on. I tend to lean on the Orthodox side of Quakerism with an Evangelical emphasis.  Goldsboro Friends is a 'programed or Pastoral' meeting.  I am please to be a Friend of Jesus and a friend of the Friends.

Do they believe in hell/eternal torment?

Great to have you here William! I am in Southern Wisconsin so I am riding out this deep freeze as well. The one good thing about the weather though was getting out of work early because business was so slow.

This Missouri boy can take the cold, and I need TREES!  The big draw is family there, and my half ownership of the family home [read, NO RENT].  It may interest you all to hear the story - Barb and I had been rethinking going to Alabama, and Tuesday night we prayed for clues, direction, and guidance.  Ten AM the next morning, my nephew, who had been living in the family home, called to say he and his wife had moved out about last Thanksgiving.  The answer was there before we asked!
