Biblical Prophecy sometimes repeats itself. Often one Prophecy has two meanings for different times. It's possible that all Prophecy is this way and we don't know it is because the second Prophecy hasn't happened yet. I want to discuss the false prophet and the Beast that get thrown into the lake of fire.
I think God gave us clues as to the identity of them or at least where to look for them. Daniel tells us that Beasts are nations so we know that this Beast is a nation. Now what Prophet in history didn't prophetize? Muhammad is called the "Prophet Muhammad" but what were his prophecies? Nothing really. When we look close we see him asserting before battles that his enemies would die and then they would.  Anyone can predict winning a battle if they have overwhelming force. Then there was the time he predicted a win and lost so he fails the Prophet test on that one failed prophecy. I assert the false prophet is Muhammad and the nation (Beast) is Islam. Muhammad never did any "signs and wonders" so Muhammad was just a demonic man but my assertion is a new false prophet will come from Islam showing signs and wonders. I think God gave us enough hints as to where to look for him.

In Iran which is mostly Shia, they await the coming of the 12th Imman or the "Mehdi" who is supposed to come in a time of chaos and bloodshed in the world. They believe that man can cause this chaos to occur.

I agree that it is the Islamic world that will try to take over the world. The prophecies in the Bible were centered on Islamic nations (under their ancient names, "Edom" etc, and of course, Israel.

I agree with your findings

Jock. Welcome btw

My Persian friend, Parviz, used to tell me (until my eyes glazed over) about those G. D. Arab-descendants who ruined his country.  He said you can spot them by their black turbans.

As to the false prophet, Mohammad seems to fit, but I am fairly certain that there are a lot of theories out there, each trying to sound convincing.

MANY things point to Jesus the Christ as being special or more than special.  One little-known sign I found in the book A Roadmap of Time, where we see a timeline of history, and the appearance of Jesus is accompanied by 100-year, 500-year, and 1000-year climate cycles all crossing the baseline at the same time.  The appearance of Mohammad in history on the same timeline was accompanied by...nothing special.

There are some things to be said for Islam, however, such as their high regard for the books of Moses, their high regard (no, really) for the Gospels and the Jesus of those Gospels.  The basic defect in Islam (in my view) is that it is still stuck in the "eye for an eye" phase of human conduct.

I suppose that I should add that Mohammad was very mixed up on religion as a young man.  Later, he proved himself a murderer, pedophile, and rapist.  His early followers were caravan raiders, robbers, murderers, fanatics, and genocidists.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

Some interesting comments here Laz.

I agree with your eye for an eye thing as being a problem, but my view of it (view, eyes, bad pun :), that it really starts with "who is Jesus?".  So for me, the basic defect in Islam (as well as many who claim other affiliations, including UR) is that it is still stuck in rejecting Jesus as the Savior, the perfect Sacrifice for sin.  I just don't believe they've as yet been given eyes to see - but will - and then we will all be brothers - when every knee bows and every tongue confesses Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Amen !!   yes its a spirit in operation/power

seems  that whaterever  exaults itself   as  god /God and all that IS called God
the dividing of the waters / voices  above or below ,   that blasphemes  or glorifies God, is by that spirit    or the Holy Spirit    ,    this seperates       and understanding   this  division   is important part of discernment

We profess Jesus Christ is the Son of God and shed His own Blood at the cross for the remission of sin
the world does not know God because its does not acknowledge Jesus Christ the Son of God ,
this is a simple and true ''but powerful ''understanding to me .

Rev 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

1Jo 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
1Jo 4:2 This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God

1Jo 4:3 But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.

1Jo 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.    1Jo 4:5 Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world's viewpoint, and the world listens to them.
1Jo 4:6 But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.
1Jo 4:7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

1Jo 4:8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1Jo 4:9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him

1Jo 4:10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

1Jo 4:11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

1Jo 4:12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

1Jo 4:13 And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.

1Jo 4:14 Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
Jesus is the reward  !!

You are entirely correct, of course.  If I had expressed fully what I had in mind, and it was niggling at me somewhere, I would have said that the eye for an eye outlook kept and keeps Muslims from seeing (eye again ) the value of forgiveness.  Given that, they cannot see the forgiving Savior.  Given that, they cannot enter into the joy of being saved or the freedom of being sons and daughters of the living God.  In God's own time, they will be freed from all that.

Your link appears to be political propaganda despite the fact that the article is grayed out. I'm registered as an Independent because I disagree with both Democrats and Republicans, but I've seen Obama say, "Jesus is Lord." I think hypocritical Christians that hate Obama because of his skin color and/or politics should repent from their sin of slandering a Christian brother.

"Wherefore I am making known to you that no one, speaking by God's spirit, is saying, "Anathema is Jesus." And no one is able to say "Lord is Jesus" except by holy spirit." (1 Corinthians 12:3)

Political issues are subject to debate, but lies and defamation of character aren't righteous criticism.

I'm a bit gobsmacked by your post. In my own defence, I meant to highlight the problem with the slaughter of Christians, nothing political. I think your reply was a bit harsh. I am not an American, I am a Scotsman, so I have no truck in American (nor British for that matter) politics. Whoever is in power has been placed there by God.

Sorry if I've offended you in any way, Tom. Purely unintentional!   :Peace2:

You didn't offend me, bro. I was just making a general comment about the ongoing political deception by some Christians that Obama is a Muslim while he says he's Christian. I don't know what's up with that link, but the article is grayed out. I'm aware that there is a plan for a world caliphate, and there are Christians being martyred in predominantly Muslim countries. I know we need to be vigilant in the defense of our faith. In the USA there is supposed to be religious freedom, but some folks who claim to defend our constitution disregard that when it's politically inconvenient. I don't know if Google is blocking that article or what, but I would read it if I could.

The holy spirit of God, the spirit of truth, testifies concerning Jesus Christ.

"Now, whenever the consoler which I shall be sending you from the Father may be coming, the spirit of truth which is going out from the Father, that will be testifying concerning Me." (John 15:26)

Tom just in case you didn't know Muslims are allowed to lie if it benefits Islam. Obama quotes from the Quran often and as quoted in the article he said we are not a Christian nation. If you research Obama he came from Islamic roots, even his brother is a leader of a radical Islamic faction. I think its fairly safe to assume that he is a Muslim posing as a Christian:

QuoteThere are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman.  These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

His color has nothing to do with it. I have seen video footage of him admitting that he has the Islamic faith.

It's a cleverly edited video by political opponents of Obama. Here's one from the other side about Bush, but, like I said, I don't agree with either party. That's why I'm an Independent.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6QFwKWFpA&feature=player_detailpage

I don't get blinded by the smokescreen of social issues attempting to divert attention from the economic problems that need to be dealt with which Congress isn't bothering to do like helping a lot folks who are hurting from the economic collapse that happened due to the party who is opposed to Obama even though they blame the bad economy on him.

This country got started by a bunch of guys fleeing oppression in Europe. They supposedly were Christians, but I've seen information that they were Freemasons too. Then there was the hypocrisy of slavery in a free country. We have a secular government by design to protect against church abuse which is what drove the founders here from Europe. I don't think any "religion" should be running the government because they're all about the tradition of man, not the word of God, and that includes the Christian religion.

I think it's dumb for any of our politicians to bow to those of other countries even if that's the custom in those other countries, but it's been done by both political parties.

I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church through no fault of my own, and I got out of it as soon as I could because I knew its doctrine is distorted. That church was responsible for killing a lot of folks in the world in the name of Christianity, and that's why the Muslims think the war is still going on with Christians, that and the fact that we are a friend of Israel. All the crusades the popes waged from Rome were for worldly power masquerading as Christianity. The point is that folks could accuse me of being a Catholic because I was raised as one, but I'm not one anymore. The Catholic Church might say I am because I was baptized in that church, but it would also probably say I'm excommunicated for my beliefs now. I don't care what the church in Rome or anybody else says. I'm not a Catholic, and I'm not subject to the Roman creeds of Christianity or the pope. I'm not a member of any church because they're all corrupt.

Obama is a politician. When he says we're not a Christian nation anymore, it's because folks from a lot of other religions are here now, and there's supposed to be freedom of religion here.

I think abortion and gay marriage are wrong, but I also think taking from the poor to give to the rich is wrong. Our whole government is corrupted by money. Money has more power than votes now, and gerrymandered districts distort elections. I think we should have nationwide one person one vote elections without districts or an electoral college, and Congress should operate on simple majority rule not the super majority and filibusters of the Senate that bring everything to a stand still. I think our taxes should be used to take care of our citizens first, and USA corporations should have to pay taxes too instead of being able to use foreign labor and foreign banks to deprive this country while capitalizing off it.

Human government disgusts me. There won't be a righteous government until Christ comes back, and that won't involve Democrats or Republicans. It will be a monarchy ruled by the word of God until no more rule is necessary because all will be subjected to God, and God will be all in all.

The government of the USA is based on freedom of religion and separation of church and state because the founders knew the dangers of a theocracy from their experience in Europe. That's why I say I don't even think the Christian religion, in other words church doctrine, should be running our country. Whether Obama is a Christian, as he says he is, a Muslim, or an Atheist, it doesn't matter according to the US Constitution. If anybody, including Obama and any of you here on this forum, claim to be a Christian, I take your word for it, and the truth is between you and God. I'm not the judge of whether your faith is true or not, and I don't think anybody here on this forum is qualified to judge if anybody's faith is true or not. I quoted in a previous message what the word of God has to say about it, and I guess it needs repeating.

"Wherefore I am making known to you that no one, speaking by God's spirit, is saying, "Anathema is Jesus." And no one is able to say "Lord is Jesus" except by holy spirit." (1 Corinthians 12:3)

In order for someone to have Jesus as their ruling Lord they must actually be obedient. ("Why do you call me Lord, Lord and not do what I say?" And, "Many will say to me in that day Lord, Lord...") To simply say "Jesus is my Lord" and not obey Him is to lie. A Lord rules. If He is not ruling a persons life He is not their Lord.

I hear ya, sis, but even believers sin. Thank God we're justified in Christ.

"Much rather, then, being now justified in His blood, we shall be saved from indignation, through Him." (Romans 5:9)

http://concordant.org/expohtml/TheEvangel/WhatIsABeliever.html

I believe the scripture you referred to is about the coming kingdom in Israel. See the attachment.

"21 "Not everyone saying to Me 'Lord! Lord!' will be entering into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the will of My Father Who is in the heavens.
22 Many will be declaring to Me in that day, 'Lord! Lord! Was it not in Your name that we prophesy, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many powerful deeds?'" (Matthew 7:21,22)

"21 See 25:11-12; Lu.13:25-30.

21 Many will need to read this passage twice, for it is the popular conviction that any one who can prophesy or cast out demons and do other supernatural deeds is necessarily in the highest intimacy with God. Many will claim these powers, yet He refuses to acknowledge them. In itself supernaturalism is no index of divine activity, for the powers of evil win their greatest triumphs in mimicking the manifestations of the holy Spirit." (Concordant Commentary on the New Testament page 19)

"Now why are you calling Me 'Lord,"Lord,' and are not doing what I am saying?" (Luke 6:46)

"46-48 Compare Mt.7:21-25; Isa.26:3-4, 28:16; ICo.3:10-11.

46 This parable presents the permanent character of the kingdom. Its foundation is laid deep in the solid stratum of God's purpose rather than the insecure sand of human expedience. The superstructure may look safe, but the stress of political storms will wreck every state but the one which will displace them and have no end. So, also, are those who are allied with these kingdoms. Those who heard and obeyed Him built a house whose foundations would last for the eon. Those who do not obey are caught in the crash preceding the kingdom." (Concordant Commentary on the New Testament page 101)
