If everything dark found in scriptures existed to highlight how tremendous God's love and grace is, in spite of his intolerance of sin and his perfect holy nature.. how beautiful would that be? What has Christianity been watered down to? "Say that you accept Jesus as savior and repent for your sins.. get into heaven and escape eternal fiery torture. Convince others to do the same." How tragic that we have undermined something so complex and extraordinary as God, loving us-all of us-unconditionally, forgiving us endlessly, understanding us better than we could understand ourselves.. and never giving up on us. I think THAT God's worth changing my life for. :)

Yes, it really is that simple, except for that "escape eternal fiery torture" part.  Over against the simplicity is a multi-layered, multi-dimensional God, who is far more than we can comprehend with our limited, carnal minds.  Given that, the most mind-blowing verse I ever read in the Bible is "We shall be like Him."  That's beyond mind-blowing!
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

 If there were no dark, we would be blinded by the light (As when others have seen God) for "in Him is no darkness at all"
The things we see, we are able to see not because we can see the invisible light, but we see the light reflected off of darker things.

The light of the third heaven is all light.  There is no invisible aspect to it.  It is as if it was a super liquid.

Then too, there is "thick darkness," something sometimes that can be poured out (as it is upon the kingdom of the beast.)

Psa 1811:  He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him [were] dark waters [and] thick clouds of the skies.  (Ps 972, 2Ch 61, Jer 1316, etc.)
