Hey all, i'm back after about 8 years and the first post i looked up had my name on it! this means God has me still on a journey that many on this forum have helped me with in the past.

here is my question.....is there a bible of sorts that takes the whole bible or most of it and translates it to show the allegorical or metaphorical or spiritual meaning of every passage?

Welcome back!

I have been here about two and a half years, so I don't know of you, but I look forward to getting to know you.

I really dont think so claypot.

There are many commentaries that try to do what you speak of but really, as Jesus said, "I will speak to them in parables so that seeing they will not perceive and hearing they will not understand" so it is all about what the Holy Spirit, who "will take that which is mine and give it to you" and "lead you and guide you into all truth" is the best commentator as Jesus opens for us "mysteries hidden from the foundation of the world".

In study and meditation, in fellowship with the saints and fellow members of the body, in prayer for illumination the Holy Spirit unfolds the wonders of the mystery, Christ in you the hope of glory.

thanks for the replies and i agree BUT this forum is fantastic for searching out the 'spiritual' take on almost any subject so i'll probably get hooked on you all again!!! not a bad thing!

i've been digging into adam and eve and all the symbolism in that account. i am reading 2 books now and would like some opinions on them...........farrar capon "genesis the movie"  i really like capon. he's left this mortal coil now but he seems like a great combination of a true love of God and a downright 'hoot'!

another book i am reading is andrew jukes 'types in genesis'

so whenever you see a thread that you think i might like let me know. i know pneuma (another old timer of this site, is he still around maybe under a different name?) but he was great at seeing the more spiritual side of things. but then again many of you are amazing tools of our Lord.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

the early Christian theologian , Origen, was great at finding spiritual meanings for Bible passages...just a heads up.
"I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance".Isaiah 45:23

  Hello dear claypot !!!
I  to see you back , I have come back also after  some more lessons learned  and to just trust in the Holy Spirit more and more
as our teacher and comforter .

We learn    the spiritual meaning of the WORD OF GOD   by becoming the sons of God  as we also are experiencing  what it means to be the son of mankind    ,  God has made both for His glory and   Jesus Christ  come to prove it

The TRUTH   really does set the sons of God free    from the bondage the sons of man have been captive too  for many ages and generations and  history  repeating itself    over an over again ..
the  WORD OF GOD   is truth by By the Spirit of Truth   we do come to knowledge of God   though the Lord Jesus Christ , just keep asking Him  , trusting in Him and loving  Him , because He sure does  LOVE us all    and wants us to learn  of Him and by Him , very much so   ...

I agree with    the many answers given by our   spiritual kinfolk here .
We are connected through the LORD JESUS CHRIST   BODY[tree of Life  that has the seed in Itself ]     , the WORD & SPIRIT OF TRUTH pure and Holy truth ..

Jesus Christ hung upon the cursed tree of knowlege of good and evil , being so pure and holy as the lamb of God in whom I do  believe   the Father chose to send   at the appointed time to show   the world     [   even in the same blood of Abel  being shed  as a witness  in the beginning  speaks an even better WORD , cause Abel   wanted  revenge  and Jesus said to FORGIVEN THEM FATHER they do not know what they are doing  ]    that was hidden  for all the ages   till  HE COME  TO BRING  in   the new covenant  of grace   upon mankind and  destroy the works of Satan ,  Vengeance is mine says the Lord and I shall repay ,, ,Hebrews 9:15
Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Everyone born of   woman   being  all of mankind,  under the law of   sin /error  of death and darkness   , than and even now , we are  all  born under the  corruptible image    ,bearing it till the Lord comes   to bring the incorruptible  Image to Light and  knowlege of HIM  by Holy Spirit and Fire    melting the elements  [corruptible image ].

So  creating the sons of God and children of the day    and light   to shine in the dark places of our hearts  , from among the sons of mankind ....

The dead / in Adam   will   hear His Voice and Shall LIVE  BECAUSE OF HIM  :HeartThrob:

Jesus is the reward  !!

Not so much a  certain bible , Brother Claypot  , but more of a work of God  in you   , breathing life INTO  our dry bones ........

For me , seeing His living Word as  in the Spirit of life and not seeing the BIBLE [WORD OF GOD ]  in the flesh,   carnal  as death any longer    It does  take the Holy Spirit   to teach us truth and comfort us as   we both live and die at the same time    /old man /nature   suffers death   daily   seeing all the corruption   in the world and the new man in Christ is being renewed daily  seeing the LORDS   WORD AS INCORRUPTIBLE  SAVING GRACE .      :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

great words rosered,

i have been seeing around me so much physical fleshly living, even the assembly of God church we attend (which is awesome) but even there i feel they are caught up in the physical to the point of upsetting the balance of spiritual and flesh. i am not blaming anyone and i know true change starts within me and that's probably why i'm here at tentmaker. this place dives into the spiritual like a duck to water and that feeds me in a good way.

i see God in the balance of all. the way the physical is set up....cold/hot, winter/summer, earth moon sun stars all spinning and moving perfectly, good days/harder days, david/goliath, cain/able, angels/demons.............. natural and spiritual.

if we don't see the natural and spiritual in every declaration of God via the Bible or creation then i think we are missing something huge.

i just want to know God in a real way.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

claypot

let me add, a gigantic revelation to me anyway has been seeing adam as spirit and eve as soul. this is the basic simple version but it has so blown me away to see that i am adam and eve, we all are adam and eve. this may seem simple on the surface but it can bring one into an amazing personal friendship with our Father and His Son just by knowing who we are and what we are made up of.

this one thought (adam=spirit eve=soul) carries out perfectly throughout all scripture.pauls teaching on the husband and wife lines up. paul in timothy says it is the woman that was/is in the transgression not the man. 1tim 2.14  the divine spirit within me does not and cannot sin yet my soul constantly strives to dominate spirit. soul (eve) took charge in the garden then all hell broke loose. Jesus took charge back in the day even when Mary tried to dominate by getting Him to turn the water inito wine....He took charge, He put soul in it's proper place. the temptation in the wilderness was a great example of spirit over soul.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

true CP things may be understood using the division you have; male/female. and the bridegroom cometh..and husband and wife are

one spirit/one flesh..to bring forth righteous offspring. Under law...the division of male female........under grace ONE..neither male

female/but  one spirit/flesh[soul].  gathering......neither jew/greek etc. into one   the Bride  coming down out of heaven from God......

granted  clean white linen.[see division in seating.segregation of temple areas..now a woman can freely enter the HOH/and gentiles

  also.

in this  world we see in the flesh many examples  of the utter corruption of gender roles under the law..............division/not made

perfect under the law..but sin seizing the opportunity when the commandment came..and putting to death.a part of the results of

the transgression was the womans desire to be unto her husband..and the husband ruling/dominion over her..   In the image of

God[Spirit] He made them,male/female.  many women in Israel allowed themselves to be divorced in the early christian days/rather than

be subjected/dominated by their husbands/under law..[ministry of death].in favour of the true bridegroom/husband/grace.  if the same spirit of Christ

be in husband and wife..they are one spirit/flesh.  if the husband be dead[under law] you are free to be married unto another.thus

the promised seed of the woman...come not from/through Adam/Joseph..but the true husband/God,Bridegroom/Christ.

the husband/bridegroom..gives himself up for her..that he may present her spotless and without blemish unto himself.

who knows..the believing wife may save her[unbelieving] husband..the believing husband his unbelieving wife[see the putting away

of unlawful wives under the law..when exiles returned]

no-one can serve two masters........a woman can not serve God and her husband..if the spirit in operation on her husband is

not the same spirit. Same situation as the man at his secular work..boss instructs him to do something against his conscience.

  [see Daniel,Meshach,Abendag0..etc

Personally,I have suffered much because of the erronous male/female domination thing in the churches. LET GOD /LET HIS SPIRIT

RULE IN BOTH THE HUSBAND AND WIFE..let both of them be subject.[think the heavenly bride coming down out of heaven/New

Jerusalem is one spirit with Him?]PS..I'm spirit too.....a spirit creature made of the same spirit substance.

same can be said to shepherds/ministers in the churches.......the very reason I left/was called out..cant serve God and the ministers.

  GOD/CHRIST HAVE THE AUTHORITY.

we can become unevenly yoked..some heap up heavy burdens impossible to bear..we can become unevenly yoked in the churches,

and through marriage

Jesus and the wine at thewedding banquet..He did this" Ask and ye shall receive ;"  It was not yet His time for HIS WEDDING SUPPER..

..where He turns the water of life into great joy of man's heart. you will see me again..and your hearts will rejoice.Mary simply

called it to His attention.[heaven forbid if your wife call something to your attention and you think she is trying to dominate you!]

perhaps Jerusalem Above made the request? for her bridegroom son?

the  incorruptible is one spirit/one flesh/UNION...God all in all

.,CP......glad you  see God all in all ! Glad your back!

Exodus 10;4  10;11No! Have only the men go..since that is what you have been asking for....

  Isaaih 53;7 and Songs 6;6

claypot

hi sheila,

lots of good stuff but i will comment on one thing you said to keep things simple and on track....

"Mary simply

called it to His attention.[heaven forbid if your wife call something to your attention and you think she is trying to dominate you!]"

you said the above about me saying the soul dominated the spirit in the garden. i would ask you if you see what eve did, when offering the apple to adam, if that was just eve calling adams attention to something?

i think it was much more than that.

again, good thoughts overall.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

sheila

well,Eve was calling attention to Adam that she had partaken of it...and offered for him to likewise partake. God told Abraham to

'listen unto your wife" it does not follow that Mary was was trying to lead Jesus into error or sin. what makes the difference is

the spirit in operation behind each act. ideally..the Holy spirit in the husband and wife[help-meet/bring to your mind the things I spoke]

works in union to the edification of the household.  add another adversarial spirit into the mix[serpent..lead into disobedience] and it's

a totally different scenario.  I don't believ Mary prompted Jesus into an act of presumption/sin..it is as simple as that.up unto that

point He had  not done a miracle..so I have no reason to think Mary expected that.  I don't like impugning evil motive unto her,and

Corban may apply here, also.[nullify the law when ye say it is a gift dedicated unto God[Mark 7;10,11    For Moses said, honour

your Father and Mother, and anyone who curses his father and mother must be put to death. BUT YOU SAY..whatever help you

might otherwise have recieved from me is Corban[a gift dedicated unto God]then you no longer let him do ANYTHING for his father or

mother.. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. the way I see it..Jesus was fulfilling the law

   as God intended it....

i agree as to mary not impugning evil motive........ my point is that we all have adam and eve within as well as the serpent. we deal with these every day of our lives.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

agreed. sometimes I am such a "girl" sometimes I have to" stand up like and take it like a man" ..but personally I'd rather trample the

serpent under my feet, and not have him within." :girlheart:

sheila, i'm sure you mean "trample the serpent"  :)   just clarifying lest anyone misunderstand

do you see the garden as our mind? the 2 trees as satan and Jesus? the trees as people.

don't get me wrong, i am a super practical guy that desires to apply God's words to my physical life but i just sense there is so much more just outside my reach. i really think we know so much just as we enter life as a baby and just before we exit yet in between we forget in relation to how much emphasis we apply to the natural without seeing God in this natural.

i know a lot of 'christianese' if you will but that does absolutely nothing for me. i want to acutally know and realize who i really am. i want to remember!
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

I used to think a lot about Christ and life when I was at church; now I am no longer at church I live with Christ in reality; I.M.O that is from His work, not mine, His timing not mine;
This is why the statement of Gal 2;20 is a key for me;
"It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me."

recommend the focus on 1 John 3;1
" Look what kind of love the Father has given us, that we may be called the children of God; And such we are."

Children learn at their own rate and their own time; the father is the only one who decides when that time is right; we are encouraged to look, but need to rely on divine revelation, not our own.

Paul did heaps of stuff; had no say in his conversion, could not claim his power was doing the miracle stuff.
1 Cor 15;10,11 " I am what I am by the grace of God, and His grace towards me was not in vain.
No I worked harder than any of them,
YET NOT I, BUT THE GRACE OF GOD THAT IS WITH ME.
Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and you came to believe."

Hoping not to appear as negative, but rather the positive, when received, outweighs everything. Seek, and you shall find.

The spirit exceeds the flesh; no comparison really.

so appreciating those posts,Ross. re;Paul lamenting the body of death[that which I do not wish to do..etc] and then this power of grace

excelling ,the lawlessness abounding in his flesh[unable to do the good I desire..yes it is sin toknow to do good and do itnot]

......lawlessness abound andgrace abounding more abundantly. for my power is made perfect in weaknesses.

Excellent choice of verses, Ross. Christ in us is the real deal.

we definitely are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.............we are His building......He certainly does work in us to will and to do of His good pleasure...............He even replaces hearts of stone with hearts of flesh at His will............He breathes life into us and puts 'flesh' on our bones..............

you all have reminded me of these truths and i have even experienced some of these, maybe all, i only have appreciated some to my bad.

do you see us as works completed yet in process? going from adam to christ. we are being made into His image.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

marie glen

hi! ..definitely made in His image.. He being the forerunner behind the veil and into God's Presence.. which, incidentally, is what interests me most of all, is life in God's Presence.. one day He being all in all.. And He counseling and teaching/speaking to all of us..

Truth sets free.. (and fills with joy and peace) - every day we can find U.R. plainly in His Word, either straightforward and obvious and, or the not as obvious..

let there be light........an ongoing process.........a repeated happening

be perfect........His word will not return void. I don't think Jesus was asking anyone to be perfect, I think He was issuing a command to all creation that will not return void, it will accomplish what it is sent out to do.
