We both agree they are living under the shadow, but the question is, should we support the building of the third temple. I other words, should we support the shadows, and help build the shadows? If so, I find it striking that none of the Apostles preached to any Christian that they should. They didn't breathe a word about the temple other than how it represented heavenly things. So, putting aside ways to interpret the prophecies, I still see no reason to support the up-building of a shadow that could cost so much life and bring suffering, when I'd rather point to the real temple and seek after peace.

We have been helping them.  We consider them our brothers.  USA and UK have always had the back of the Jews in Israel.

I'm looking at prophesy, Seth.   Psalm 83 speaks of a confederacy forming against Israel.  I could never figure out how that could happen as long as USA and UK had their backs.   Well, look at us now.    No one could have made that happen except the one in power now who refuses to help Israel and refuses to hurt the confederacy which in its infancy is known as ISIS.  I could never have predicted that.   The stabilizing leaders have been removed from Egypt, Iraq, Libya, and now Syria is next. They are all poised to join the caliphate.  Who could have predicted that?

The Bible predicts it.  The Bible talks about the period going forwards as one talks about the labor of a woman giving birth.  Ever give birth?  The contractions get harder and harder and closer and closer together.  All these words, tribulation, trouble, sorrows, refer to birth contractions.

There will be no peace until the birth, it is only going to get worse.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Marie, it specifically says 'the court which outside the temple.  Seems pretty clear to me that there will be a third temple when we put all these verses together.

hi Molly, it doesn't to me, but I think it's very possible.. imo this is one of veRy few things I see as possible analogy

...all things outer being trampled.. the whole world trampled.. by untruth.. also Israel trampled.. the outer and specific Israel..

Jerusalem perhaps seen as God's temple/Jerusalem within which gentile believers are grafted also into..

the court outside the temple, do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months...

...outer.. don't measure the (outer) court, but, they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months...

But I do believe it is possible a third temple may be built.. time will tell! God bless!

We have been helping them? Not me. I don't help either side except to point to Christ. If I rather them believe in Jesus and live peacefully, and do good to all men.

The Bible only predicts a physical building of the temple according to how you interpret those prophecies. That's not enough for me to go forward to helping the shadow be built when I see that the reality has come. Not everybody interprets those prophecies the same way as you do. Yes I agree that there will not be peace on the earth until the Lord cleans the entire situation up, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to go ahead and join the war making process and destroy a revered site of Islam to bringing nothing but more pain and war on the earth. I could encourage and promote Jesus instead. I would rather point to the reality of the temple which is come.

Jeremiah and Isaiah prophesied that Babylon would overtake Israel. But that doesn't mean I'm going to go ahead and join Babylon and help destroy Israel just because God prophesied it. And again there are differences of opinions as to what those prophecies mean anyway. I don't read them fulfilled  the same way you do.

Of course I do agree with you that we are the temple of God.  That is the body of Christ.  One does not preclude the other.  But I don't believe that anything that happens with the church precludes what will happen with the house of Judah.  Scripture indicates otherwise.

This (today breathing)generation of Jews.
Have they truly been given the opportunity to Reject Jesus the Christ.
Or do they reject the Christ of the God whom tortures Eternally those who reject his Christ.

More significant than any third temple being build.
This generation of Jews may actually hear the true Gospel of the True messiah.

Again I have a different view on how those prophecies are to be fulfilled. Israel's trouble is in rejecting Christ. If they didn't reject Christ and if they are not still rejecting Christ they would have peace no matter where they lived and no matter what happened to them. That's exactly what happened to Paul and his own persecutions. If they believed in Jesus Christ then they would realize that they don't even need to build the temple all they would have to do is make peace with Muslims and spread the gospel to them too.

I understand how you read the prophecies and how you believe the suffering must happen, and I agree that everything is on God's timetable ultimately. But even if I agreed with how you read them, that doesn't mean I'm going to lend my hand to supporting that which is causing the suffering.

In other words just because the Bible predicts suffering, that doesn't mean that Christians need to have a hand in being the cause of it themselves. I believe in following the simple Commandments of Christ: to be a peacemaker and blessed in that, to do good to all men especially the household of the face, to love my enemy. I don't believe anything wrong can happen in Gods eyes if I do that

Yes, everyone must make that determination for themselves.    For me, when I see the Christians in the Middle East being beheaded and driven from the homes they have occupied for 2000 years, all I can think is, Somebody do something!  This even if I know it is prophecy being fulfilled.  So I travail in the Spirit.  I suspect you do, too, from what you have said.

Ultimately, once the childbirth begins, there is nothing we can do to stop it.  We can only offer comfort and alms to those going through it directly.

Oh yes I absolutely do travailing that. It's horrible and awful what's happening both to the Jews and also to not only them but the Christians living in Palestine. Also the Palestinians who really don't have much to do with it like the children.

There are many more people suffering than just the Jewish people. Jesus loves them all, as I think we would both agree.

Now concerning that day or hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven nor the Son—except the Father. 33 Watch! Be alert![m] For you don't know when the time is coming.

Isn't the reverse of the above true also .
We know for sure the Hour and Day are not going to be tomorrow
because the third temple is not built yet.

As a matter of fact we can all relax because it's going to take a least a year,
maybe six months to build the temple.
We might be able to kick back for a few more years waiting for the temple to be built.
But once the Temples build we better be watchful.

Tom

I think all the anxiety about Revelation is unnecessary because we'll be snatched away before things get heavy. I don't give Revelation much thought until it comes up in a thread like this, and then all the literal vs. figurative stuff starts getting crazy.

Seth

One of the things that intrigues me, is if they build a literal temple in Israel, how will they determine who the Law allows to serve in it? I was under the impression that in 70AD that the genealogical records were lost and that there is no way to determine who is a Levite. In Nehemiah 7:64, they used the records to establish whether or not a claimant for the priesthood could be established, and found that they weren't so they were considered unclean for the priesthood. I am wondering what the method will be for tracing the modern priesthood's descent from that tribe. I've read articles about the Temple Institute in Jerusalem saying that they have Levite priests ready and trained, but it didn't say how they determined them to be Levites.

Tom

I say, instead of supporting a new temple for the Jews, maybe we should support a new server for Tentmaker because this thing is wacko today.

Seth

Also, I wonder if building the shadow temple would lead to the eventual move toward a theocracy. I don't know. On the one hand, I don't see the current secular government of Israel ordering its citizens to make sacrifices. I would probably be done by the high priest as a ceremonial rite, but everyone else could do as they please. There would probably be a sect in Israel that would promote moving toward a theocracy built on the OT, but not sure how far that would go. Who knows. Pride in the new temple could cause people to seriously consider it. That would be a very interesting turn of events.

29 "So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the Lord continually.  30 And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before the Lord. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the Lord continually.

--Exodus 28

Hmm...so it has something to do with the heart particularly of the high priest  :Chinscratch:

IMO, The temple will not be built until the threat of jihad is eliminated by war or held at bay by treaty.
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

IMO, the temple may not get rebuilt by the Jews, and the Jews are mostly not of Israel.  The tribe of Judah was one of twelve or thirteen tribes, depending on how you count them.  After the exile in Babylon, only a small fraction of Judah and Benjamin ever returned to the old territories.  The rest are probably Christians or Muslims today.  The Jews of today claim descent from the tribe of Judah, but most, especially the eastern European variety, are descended from the tribe and nation of the Kazars, a branch of the Turks, a branch of the Japhethites.  Their claim then, to the promises given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel, including the land promises, are so thin that we can conclude that they are the Jews who are not Jews (of Judah) spoken of in Revelation.  To support them is to go against God.

However, trying to convince most folks of this is about as easy as arguing against the existence of Hell.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.
