so now the term 'angel" is anethema? From now on.......some-one that uses the term angel  is wrong..and should use  messenger..and further more

there should be no distinction between a man messenger or celestial messenger..and lets not use the term super-natural anymore, either?

by the way,my brother gave me an angel figurine musicbox that plays amazing grace aas a gift years ago. and my freind a plaque

for a prayer for God to have His angels keep me...is that idolatry too.?

2 Peter 2;10-12 and Jude 8-10

Hi Micah , I do understand what Shelia is saying as well   ,  she is making the  vaid point of the spirits in prison , held in captivity    , in Peter 2 and Jude   bound to the chains of darkness

I can only say these   were held  as slaves to SIN !     those  we know  as Cain were one in the number   , he was the first to murder  his brother  , and God put a mark on him ,   and we know He was of the wicked one from scriptures
Jesus come to free us from sin    equals  death

also   Babylon is a spirual prison   started in Gen  10   after the flood      ,  those before the flood
in the days of Noah      were captive to sin
ruling their hearts       , and Babylon is spiritual pride    as well as confusion
  both make prisoners

Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Gen 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
Gen 11:9 Gen 4;15 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.   but they are now by Rev  18 bound in    the cage /trap that the VOICE  says come out of her my people  lest you   recieve her plaguges

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

1Jo 3:12 Not as Cain, [who] was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Jud 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1Pe 3:20   Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water

the list of  those written in the books of records   has  many names   that are  blotted out from under heaven     , because Jesus did    preach to them   , some were  by the mouth of   God though Noah   , many examples in the Word .  :girlheart:
This is just my own   thoughts
Jesus is the reward  !!

 Do they have Dignity

The respect and honor associated with an important position.
The quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect.

Indignant is from Latin indignus "unworthy," and it refers to anger based on unworthy or unfair behavior rather than merely injury to one's own interests. You may be angry, even furious, if someone shoves you, but you are indignant if the shove is directed at someone weak or helpless. The related noun is indignation, and something that arouses indignation is an indignity

Sheila, I met an angel once.  He looked like a man, neatly dressed in a suit and tie, not very tall, every hair in place, handsome, but he did something supernatural, something which no human man could do, and he saved my baby.  He spoke to me, and then just kind of disappeared, not right before my eyes exactly, but suddenly he was gone and I hadn't seen where.

Yes, supernatural, celestial beings called angels most certainly do exist, for I have witnessed it with my own eyes.

I won't say what happened before this crowd, because it is one of the most precious experiences of my life.

"this crowd,..." How am I, a member of "this crowd," supposed to react, I feel somewhat dissed? :dunno:

If I have in anyway denied that the Lord God does not use His Spirit to perform acts of greatness, aid, or generosity or for that matter for evil or disarray, through all or any of His creation in anyway He chooses, I will offer an apology. I believe that He sends and uses His messengers in may forms and ways. He works in and through Spirit. All that I offered was, what I believe to a stumbling block in understanding of how man builds his witness. :HeartThrob:

Thank you, very nice. i do not seek trouble either, but there are so many obstacles to overcome that have been establish by religion and it's false and erroneous teaching.i truly believe if we as believers continue to seek in spirit and truth, tossing aside established beliefs, about things that are not what they claim they are, our growth will mature to full stature. :HeartThrob:

And, you, Micah, are going to overcome all those obstacles for us that, according to you, have been established by religion--right?

And, you, only, have all the truth that religion does not have, and you are going to insist we agree with you because only you have truth--right?

Because you alone are going to take the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives--right?

Good thing we have you around, Micah.  My goodness, none of us would ever see truth--because obviously the Holy Spirit could never show it to us.

Since you Molly went there, I am sure that maybe the same should be said of you and your "mollybible?"  :sigh:

Molly

My mollyBible goes on the shelf right next to your micahBible.

I keep telling you that 'messenger' is only one of the definitions for the Hebrew word Malak.

Another definition is angel.

An angel is a supernatural, celestial being, not a human being.

But, you like 'messenger' and insist everyone use 'messenger' because according to you that is all they are.

If the angel I met was a messenger, then his message to me was God loves you and your baby, and His holy angels are always beside you, to protect and preserve you.  The angel I met did not say that, he demonstrated it.

If you have never met one, you are not qualified to speak against it.

I don't believe I said I had a "micahbible." But you refered to you having a "mollybible."

My experiences from the Lord helping me in times of trial and distress and in lifting me up have been 3 times. I knew it was the Lord who helped me each time, I had no visible image, but there was great calm and piece and rest and all that I heard within my being was "see." It was not audible to my human ear, still I heard the word. :HeartThrob: I am sorry your assumption was wrong.

Well some of us have had other experiences, which include visible appearances of angels,-- supernatural, celestial beings.

Just because you haven't had one does not mean that angels do not exist,--they do, just the way religion and our Bible say they exist.

Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

I started this threat with a bizarre thought.

The first thing God wrote was the mark he put on Cain.
So that any one even if they were inspired by Satan,
they would not kill Cain I believe all murder is inspired by Satan.

So my original question is are there passages in the bible that angels
good or bad find out information by reading scriptures or by hearing scriptures read.

Part two of my question is the Tower of babble;
with the confusion of languages and the resulting marks and scribbles
that represent that particular language have a significance.

The torah was written and read for thousands of years yet it wasn't
until Paul had his Damascus road experience that any one could see what was really written.

I wrote you  , but my browswer broke and all was lost , Bro D !  so sorry your   thread was hi jacked    ,       I would say  yes to both your questions

and had wrote the reasons why    I believe  they are , but they were lost  :(

I know Daniel knew  alot by Jeremiahs  prophecy   book and    Hebrews 11   tells of all those abused and died  while   proclaiming in them  the same witness     Jonah  come to tell Niviah     about their sins to God and they repented
and Babylon was    formed  making a name for themselves  so the Lord come down and confounded their language   that no flesh could boast   nor spiritual pride  could rule for very long
Jesus is the reward  !!

dajomaco, if it was I that caused your post to fall off it's course, I am truly am sorry, it was not my intent. :HeartThrob:

But then again, perhaps not. Should you be able to see that the message of seven, is one, then maybe you can see the wisdom. :dsunny:

sheila

Daj,this may be related with question #1 1Peter 1;12  Even angels long to look into these things.

If you read what precedes 10,and 11...you see all..angels and men awaaiting the things

foretold..how and when and in what manner scripture would be fulfilled by God.

    #2   regarding Babylon..and her soceries/witchcraaft...the same as presumtousness....to me

this could be related with Him 'putting the wisdom of the wise to shame"  presumptousness

as to the identity of His son..what He would be..what He would do..made many reject Him.

even kill Him...judging him as a blasphemer.
