Pharisees views on afterlife

Hello, I don´t speak english very well, but I hope you can understandme. I'd like to ask a couple of questions about jewish afterlife in Jesus time.
I know that "The school of Shammai distinguished between three kinds of people: those who are good to eternal life, which are neither good nor bad which will purify and go to eternal life and the wicked to go to Gehenna". The completely wicked are punished for all eternity, or are killed, as Hillel held?

By the way, is this information from the Talmud? I thought all the Pharisees believed that good would go to eternal life and the wicked would be tortured eternally, as Josephus said (though historians say that it is not very reliable). Josephus said that pharisees and essenes believed in eternal torments.

Who is reliable?

IMO, The only reliable source is the Bible. There is absolutely nothing about
eternal torture in the Old testament of anybody.
In the new testament, there is no such thing as a good person or a bad person,
we are all sinners saved by grace of God through the shed blood of His Son.
No one in the old testament was saved by "being good". All had a relationship with God through faith
the same way we do today. OT only a few received the Holy Spirit.
NT everyone that trusts in the shed blood of Jesus for covering their sins, recieves the Holy Spirit.

I believe that the Pharisees, Saducees, Zealots, Nazarites, Essenes all had many divisions/schools of thought among themselves as do organiztional Christians today.

Thats why the scriptures are so important... we have to always be able to examine that which has developed among us as "orthooxy" lest the mind of man become the standard, leading to chaos and Babel.

:iagree:  It's just an historical question, for all the Pharisees are dead.  Today, refer to the Bible for it is a reference standard of Truth.  The Talmud is not.
