Title: Isaiah 60:17 - the new body?
Post by: marie glen on March 08, 2018, 05:04:07 PM
The verse Isaiah 60:17 came up in my reading -
I will exchange your bronze for gold, your iron for silver, your wood for bronze, and your stones for iron. I will make peace your leader and righteousness your ruler. (New Living Translation)

Each one, bronze, iron, wood and stones become shinier.. more refined. When I read it, it was the New International Version - Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler.

But in my head it seemed more like the New Living Translation. And struck me as one of its pertainings to be the new body believers' old bodies are transformed into at resurrection.

...the interlinear - http://biblehub.com/interlinear/isaiah/60-17.htm

I'm sure there's likely information about each of these, the bronze, gold, iron.. etc. that is informative too!
...God bless! :Peace2:

It's clear the most direct and simple meaning  is a message of prosperity.
While the verse shows an upgrade in monetary value the deeper meaning is found in the spiritual/Biblical meaning of those materials.

That would mean there are transformed bodies of several classes...
I have my doubts about that, but OTOH the Bible teaches there will be classes/ranks in heaven.
Somehow iron in heaven doesn't feel right to me.

If that is the case, then would that mean you could rank up? Or even, ranck down? What would these ranks signify, and what would we be doing? Sitting in a circle for all eternity playing Patty Cake?

Jesus said things like greatest in heaven, and then He wasn't refering to theFather Himself.

I think we only watch reruns on Netflix

Seriously, I don't know what we do in heaven. But I do think it's far more that sitting on a cloud for eternity. :angelharp:
I think it's far more entertaining/challanging.

In NDE's I've read something about it. Everyone can decide to accept or reject them, obviously.
Lot's of overlap but the most complete NDE was one with schools in a city. Higher education equalled access to more parts of the city.
In an other NDE the education determined how near one could be to theFather.

Assuming those NDEs are the real deal, I think they are some sort of parables. I doubt, as in hope not, that I've to sit in class for 8 billion years and get homework  :punish:

Huh, never heard about that. Sounds fascinating though. Have a link(s) for that? You are far more knowledgeable on these stories than me. In fact, only ones I have read so far are from here. One thing that makes me curious, though, is how many depictions include traveling through a tunnel of light. Apparently the Tibet book of the dead mentions this. Have any good insight?

Oh, don't forget about pop quizzes! If we do, mind if you give me your answers?

Interesting... I was thinking about it as each individual's new body.. the bronze of it now shined up into gold.. the iron shined up into silver.. etc. When reading it I could feel, sort of, the transformation into more refined..

"Classrooms in the kingdom" ... I've always assumed the ones chosen to believe during this life (and hopefully being educated now - being programmed by His Holy Word(s) and teaching into all truth by His Spirit.. so that during the millennium we would be the teachers in 'classrooms' for survivors of man's finally blowing theirselves up.. and then also during that time called Judgment 'Day' after all the not yet saved folks of all ages hear His voice and rise to a resurrection of judgment and correction..

We being in the 'classroom' now.. and they later, the believing remnants/the saved & born again during this life, of each generation serving as teachers and prophets/inspired teachers.. If we've passed the classes..??

Did we end up talking about two different kinds of classes in this thread? Weird.. (imo :laughing7: )
God bless! :Peace2:

Maybe it were all atheist and muslims in those classrooms. But I think the teachers were angles.

That said, as long as we aren't on Jesus' level, we all have something to learn.  :2c:

Maybe LoF = school

I'll try to find the relevant NDE, but it's on the sites I posted in the other thread.

A witness...
Perhaps they are the same.... :Chinscratch:
Primary school = Wood
Cuma Sum Laude an uni = Gold refined 7 times in a earthen vessel. Adam was made of earth. I feel another fork of this thread comming up.

I'll post them if I ever find them. But don't expex pages to read because most NDE's are like 5 lines long. But some a are paperback sized.

A lot include a tunnel of light. Often it starts out dark, traveling at low speed. Then the speed goes up greatly and a light is seen in the distance. The light gets brigher and brighter.
When they arrive things vary in NDEs. Some meet Jesus, some meet a relative, some only hear a voice.
But all sense utter peace.
When they return the vast majority lost all fear of death and have a strong zeal for God.

Childeren that are to young to parrot stories about tunnels and peace, all talk about such things.

Better don't peek on my paper because I know nothing about pop. I'm a metal head. A headbanger that listens to satinic lyrics and instruments  :footmouth:

They even have special clothing for each class.
IIRC those for gym are called class action suites.
Usually a Teacher on a white throne is shouting to run for their lives.

I think in the Bible Gold means kingship, silver redemption. The others I don't really know.
I could speculate stone is baked clay. Iron is blood.
But I could speculate a dozen other things.

It just started out as response to the verse MG posted.

One thing that comes to mind, if NDE's really are just dreams fueled by past religious beliefs, is why do, say a Buddhist, have an NDE with Jesus in it? Or an atheist have the same thing? And honestly, if they were just dreams, do dreams have this much of an impact on ones life, where it is a transformational experience?

I'm not saying that all of these accounts are automatically true. But, due to their vast amount of claims, and with usually a common theme despite cultural or religious beliefs, is not something you should brush right off as "brain activity" or "hallucination"...

I agree with all you wrote, but it won't convince anyone because the standard reply is: "Just lies to sell a book."
