The Hebrew word for Father is 'ab' אב .   He is the one who spoke and created the heavens and the earth א , then revealed himself to man ב . The metaphor for the letters are very large and get focused by combining with other letters.

We could also express Father as the one who has a holy א house ב. This helps flesh out the meaning of Father as being more personal than just the creator.

The primary characteristic of a Father is that he produces new life.

The word 'ab' also means 'green shoot' like a sprout, and 'fruit' which hangs on a tree.

These are secondary metaphor. When you point at a green shoot and say "Father" you are acknowledging that God is the source of the first life.  When you point at a fruit and say "Father". you are acknowledging that God is the source of the second life.

God built the meaning into the words before anyone knew anything about the second life, or of being born again.

No man has seen nor heard the Father, nor can they. He is like the water to the fish, and the air to the bird.  We swim and fly where we will, but God works invisibly and silently behind the scenes to nudge us where he wants us.

How would he reveal himself to us?  Through a book written where literally people lived their lives as they would, but hidden beneath, we see God has built in a testimony of himself beginning with the very letters of the alphabet used to form the words by which he created the universe. 

The word 'Father' has the sense that it is HE who took the initiative to create and reveal himself. Two letter words are not contractions of three-letter roots. They are called 'gates' which are built up by the metaphor of the letters. When they are reversed, the sense of the word is reversed.

The word 'ab' אב is the Father who took the initiative. The word 'ba' בא means 'come' as in an invitation.  The sense is reversed.   Now the one who revealed himself to man ב is reconciled א. 

The aleph א which means 'created by separation' in it's primary metaphor, reverses its meaning at the end of the word and has the sense of reconciliation.  The aleph means both' separation' and 'reconciliation' at the same time, but the focus changes by position.   

When God declares that he is Holy (separated), he does not declare it with the intention of remaining apart... but that we can understand our proper relationship and be intimate thereafter.  It is separation for the purpose of teaching in preparation for reconciliation.

"The first shall be last"  The aleph is the number 1 , but the word aleph means 1000. The 28th letter (the last one) of the Hebrew alphabet has a value of 1000.   The metaphor of the last letter; the final shin (four prongs), speaks of an intimate relationship with God.   Isn't it fun how the riddles intertwine and lock each other in place?

Now the word 'abba' means "Father come".
