The Big Gulp
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." -1 Cor. 15-
Swallow= katapino=
To swallow down death by victory.
(Of the mortal body by LIFE)
To drink down, to devour.
To swallow.
Jonathan Mitchell Translation=
"the death was drunk down and swallowed unto victory"
BBE= "death is overcome by life"
NCE= "death is destroyed forever in victory"
MSG= "death is swallowed by triumphant life"
Word for today=
enduo=
To put on immortality & incorruption
I love this passage. I believe it is very supportive of Universal Reconciliation.
"We will not all sleep"......Not sure what that means, but, if I had to guess, I would think it either refers to Jesus telling us that if we believe in Him, in this life, we will never die, or it is a reference to the end times, when some will live until Jesus comes again, and some will have died, in a physical sense (which would be most of us).
"But, we will all be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye." Whow. What we (meaning humanity, each one of us)had learned on earth, combined with the experience of the Lake of Fire, for those who go there, will have transformed all of us, so that we are now ready to live forever with God, in Heaven. "Death has been swallowed up in victory"......physical death, death to sin, death to ourselves, even, in this process of transformation.
God is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus came to restore all things, as they were meant to be, from before the beginning of time. His death on the cross bought if for us, all.
This passage feels so triumphant and joyous, to me. Our greatest, deepest hopes fulfilled....the impossible at our feet....the unimaginable, right in front of our eyes......we can only imagine!

Amen :HeartThrob: alive in the Spirit
because we follow Him where ever He goes because we are a part of His substance through faith given the increase Body of Christ]

romans 8 Living in the Spirit
9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet the Spirit gives you life because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you....
John 17:23
I in them and You in Me--that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Ephesians 3:17
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Colossians 1:27
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
I wonder if believing is obeying and obeying is believing and is living though His Spirit & life continuing ?
Amen! ..and glory! I believe He IS life itself, the life force. (And "is perfect" so everything He does is perfect and has done all just as He has to bring about the utter best; makes no mistake, cannot lose anything, not one for that would not be perfect - logos/logic, imo:)
There being no death - no imperfection, spot, wrinkle, no impurity, no untrue thing - He will be all in all.. no speck of death/imperfection/flaw - Life will swallow all death, like light chases away/consumes darkness.. Light everywhere would be no darkness.. no shadow.. no dark corners..
"Every tongue" and heart "will wholeheartedly confess Jesus is Lord" Philippians 2:11, according to the Greek..
..And it's His administration! His program "of the ages", His works which accomplishes it.. "the HS will convince the world of sin" (of "missing the mark".. the dark-ness of it, it is death. It cannot be allowed, it kills. No one will want it - "the former things will not come to mind, nor come up in the heart"..
https://biblehub.com/hebrew/2142.htm - 1. remember, recall, call to mind, usually as affecting present feeling, thought, or action:
https://biblehub.com/hebrew/5927.htm - alah: to go up, ascend, climb
https://biblehub.com/hebrew/3820.htm - leb: inner man, mind, will, heart
"For, lo, I am creating new heavens, and a new earth, And the former things are not remembered, Nor do they ascend on the heart." - Isaiah 65:17

Amen all!
I love this verse, Jeremiah 31:3.. it's the old english and out of context (unless we think of Israel as microcosm of the whole.. Because the verse is spoken to Israel. But then too Paul said all believers are grafted into Israel. :Chinscratch:
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. (KJ version)
And I believe that is true to all.. in what's called "today" and upon that 'day' when"all the ends of Earth will remember (hebrew - come to their senses) and turn to the LORD, and all families, from all the nations will rejoice before Him" Ps.22:27.
P.S. ..oh! c[h]ords of love.. I didn't notice that before.. "in tune with His vibrations" :gsmile:
And amen, too.. it's not that something went awry and He has to save us.. but that He subjected all to vanity/disobedience.. I have to think we are learning / He is teaching (all, the whole) "good from evil". And Christ Crucified was built in, for it says He was crucified at the founding of the world (kosmos)..
