I thought this was interesting about "consuming"
-- 2654 katanalískō (from 2596 /katá, "down, according to," intensifying 355 /analískō, "consume")
And then "ana" has to do with up..
The translators add,
– properly, consume all the way ("up to down") or rather, down to up? Up being higher than Earth, the heavens. The down(ward) experience precedes the up(wards)
:dontknow: Either way, He will consume all dross.. not one speck in the "kosmos".
Not one speck can be allowed? Because in it is the full potential (which He is teaching/convincing "ALL" of?) Even one speck is a possible abyss? (Key to Rev.9:1-3?)

That's just another way Hell is impossible. Now Damnationists see the fire of God as "Hellfire," and as an agent of eternal punishment. However, God states that He is a Refiner, and that His fire is to refine men, to burn up the dross (chaff, tares, wood, hay, stubble) and leave the silver and gold. There is a theme running through the Bible of a water baptism followed by a fire baptism, and it can be found in the NT and the OT as well.
