Hello. Anyone have information and insight into the Greek Interlinear? I thought I could purchase one of these, and woo-hoo!, I'd really be able to get to the very bottom of it, 'ya know? Oops...then I got to thinking, which often gets me in trouble. James then says something like this to self, "well, I guess someone translated that too, so hmmmm...there may be some personal slants in there, too...not just the ABSOLUTE meaning of the greek words"...darn, darn, darn!
I've googled Jay P. Green, denominational affiliation, beliefs, etc., but really didn't find much. Anyone have really solid info on this, how dependable, how absolutely accurate it is? I'm starting to think it's just another translation :sorry:. Hopefully I'm wrong :dontknow:.
I've been thinking about this, and I guess it obviously is "just another translation"...I've got several really good literal translations, so maybe the real benefit of the Interlinear would be the ability to see the actual Greek words...then could check against other translations.

Thanks, WW....in my looking I also saw that Green had a literal translation he or his father did in 1976, I think called the Green Translation....it was incorporated into the Greek Interlinear...

If you read his 'profile' on wikipedia he has done a lot of KJV translations. So perhaps he has a (slight) BBQ bias?
Is LITV what you where looking for? If not I'll look around a bit more.
Myself I'm hunting for lexicons similar to Strongs. In electronic format. e-sword or BibleWorks format is prefered.

Included translations: AV, CLV, YLT and SVV (=Dutch)
If you can't download it I can email it or put it on a fileshare where you can get it.
To me it seems you likely can't get more literal than with this program.

if it's about Green's Literal Translation, i would say it's just another translation, Concordant Literal Translation and a interlinear version might be a perfect combo

The perfect combo is a personal thing I guess.
Compare for example Rotherham and YLT. Modern and old style English. Matter of preference I think.
I don't know what Greens translation looks like. Or I should say I don't know if I have the Greens translation Jabcat speaks about.
I use the old KJV a lot because that's the one that has Strong linked to it in the software I use.
Often I compare 10 bibles for the tricky verses. I slightly different way of word usage/interpunction can just be the little different between understanding and not understanding.

Your questioning is well placed. I would further add that when Paul tells us in 2nd Timothy 2:15 to "study", or "endeavor" to show ourselves approved to God, he's confirming to us that we should question these things.
By comparing the Scriptures to each other, we can come to a deeper understanding and knowedge of God. But it is God Who will ultimately illumine His Word to us.
It's not all hokus-pokus, it takes study, prayer, and reason to make sense of all these different translations.

I have had zero experience with Green's Interlinear, but you can purchase it at the following link for under 15 bucks.

Green's is embedded with Strong's #s. So many of our reference materials are "embedded with the "filter" of ET, it takes a while to see "through" some of the screening.
Of the 20 or so Bibles I have, I'm most comfortable with the "Companion Bible" and The "Concordant Literal".(but I need a satchle to carry the "Old Testament" version of the Concordant, since it's in separate volumes) Having said that, my Green's has been a great resource also. Since I'm not trained in Greek or Hebrew, I'm relying on definitions that can be very subjective. I would caution anyone to be critical of all the rescources we have available. God will enlighten our minds, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use the brains He gave us.
