Often I have heard of spiritual matching of scripture. Is there a method or a search engine that one can use for this purpose, or is it strickly a matter of memorizing the whole book of scripture? My lack of talent in this area is very limited. If anyone has a better and faster way of finding scripture matches, please educate me!

First step is to read, read, and then read more and you will begin to recall enough of a verse that if you google only the part you can remember usually a hit will be returned with the bible verse with its location so you can look it up yourself. So I wouldn't say you have to remember entire chapters or even entire verses. But what you need is to have at least a general idea about what is in the actual Word of Yahweh and what is not. For myself this general knowledge of the scripture has catapulted my learned and retaining by leaps and bounds.
I tend to be a concept guy, rather than a book/chapter/verse guy, and I don't see it as a disability, but I do admire people who can quote a verse or verses verbatim. When I added a Strong's Concordance to my reference books, I found that I could usually get to a verse fairly quickly by looking up key words. An electronic Bible with a search function is also useful.
Someone shared the Blueletterbible with me years ago , its an on line site with bible tools that has helped me greatly over the years , its something I would have never been able to do without the help , just do an engine search , it will pop up , I dont know how to do links very well still :eek:

The Bible is like those movies with separate story lines that form one big story.
If you don't grasp the story line you just see actors running around but have no real idea why they do what they do and how it add to the movie as whole.
Looking up words in lexicons is great start. Especially if you study all possible meanings.
Imo the (on of) most important thing to do is forget are modern western (wo)man. Think as ancient Jew living in theocracy. How did they understand idioms? How does a farmer understand Jesus' farming concepts? Know that Revelation uses a vast amount of Temple references.
So... without understanding the Temple, farming, shepherding, etc you won't understand the Bible. And to make things worse... many things aren't explained in the Bible. imo, it's impossible to understand the Bible by just studying the Bible.
I can only speak for myself but the Bible were just bunch on unconnected stories. Yet I studied all the words. I've read vast amounts of background info. And only when I knew all those unconnected things I was able to see a main story line.
Personally I get bored after reading 3 verses. I like topical studies. Just pick a subject and search it from cover to cover. For example when does a day start? When does month start?
When you study the dimensions of the Temple interesting things pop-up. For example zech 5:1-3 Rev 10:9-10, eze 2:9 (exo 32:15-16) speak about the same scroll. And that scroll has exactly the same size as the Temple porch on which the priests made judgements and proclamations.
