Title: New Member Introduction
Post by: Joanna on January 21, 2009, 08:37:52 PM
Greetings to all!

I was referred to this site through a post at narcissists-suck.blogspot.com.  I didn't find (yet) the specific thread I was looking for, but was intrigued and stayed to read.

I was raised a Presbyterian by a Baptist-raised father and an atheist-bred mother who had  Scottsish Presbyterian roots.    I deeply appreciate the Christian education I received through the Presbyterian church.  I also spent a large portion of my youth among missionaries abroad.  (Yikes!)  It's been a few years since I realized I am NOT a Calvinist.  Neither can I bring myself to become a Roman Catholic, although EWTN is certainly a more worshipful, intelligent and thoughtful television alternative than some.   What I initially read at this site reflects my own struggle to reconcile Scripture with various doctrines.   I shall continue to read here and see whether I can come to a more satisfying cohesive, consistent understanding of what I believe.

Greeting back Joanna!

Enjoy the true learning.

About Calvinist. It always makes me think of Calve. A brand of peanut butter.
Roasted peanuts  :laughing7:

Never heard of that brand of peanut butter.  Wish Calvinism were as appetizing as peanuts or peanut butter.

I'll have coffee unless you've got some Stash's licorice tea.

Hi Joanna,

Welcome to the site.  Hope you find material that speaks to your spirit.

Jabcat, I have a few of Big Tent Revival's tapes, yep tapes, not cd's, lol.  I liked them, but haven't listened to the tapes for quite awhile.

:cloud9: I've never seen this brand before nor heard of it? Where is it from? Just curious.....we have Jif and a variety of off brands here......

It's Dutch.
Not unlikely you know it under another brand because it's just one of the brands of the Unilever that sells anything from food products to cleaning products like Jif.

Unilever is quite big and listed at stock exchanges around the world. But its name is just a bit hidden.
It sells nothing under it's own name. A bit like the US Proctor and Gamble I think.
