Title: Huge Burden Lifted
Post by: EddieFlores on December 24, 2015, 05:07:51 PM
Merry Christmas everyone. I'm in my mid forties from San Antonio (Go Spurs Go!). I was raised in the Church of Christ so I got plenty of hell teaching growing up with sermons and those terrifying Chick bible tracts. I came around to CU thru L. Ray Smith's Hell Is A Christian Hoax and his Lake Of Fire series. Then I found this site a few months ago and it has been such a blessing. I'm married to a wonderful woman who doesn't share my view (she's a conditionalist/annihilationist). I've made peace that she may never see that CU fulfills God's wonderful plan. My parents and siblings think I'm wrong but still consider me a Christian (so at least there is peace at family gatherings). Anyways may your holidays be filled with blessings from above.

Hi Eddie,

Ex-Texan here! Lived in Texas in 1979 & 1980 then again 1988-1999 now in Florida. I was raised up as a Catholic kid and had enough Hell teaching to choke a horse. I had a salvation experience in 1976 and Holy Ghost Baptism also. It took quite a while for the Lord to convince me he intended to save all. If you go to my posts on Tentmaker there is a poem called Greater Grace and Fruitcakes There Won't Be Any-you might enjoy them. Your wife might enjoy them and you can go to my website as there are some inspired poems and teachings that your wife might enjoy.

Many of the poems and teachings will unfold some truths that might cause your wife to join you in your belief. They are gentle but reveal the soft side of the Lord. :dsunny:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Bob (He1MyHeart)

Hi Eddie, I feel like we're in the same boat with wife and family. It's painful to have something that special to you rejected by your own wife and that's how it is with me too. But we get along real well and I love her to pieces and she seems to like me too. But I've learned to leave this subject alone for now with her. I visited my Dad a few months before he died and convinced him that I hadn't thrown the bible out the window and probably wouldn't go to hell. My siblings range from being interested to thinking I'm stupid but we get along fine. So I think I know what you're going through. I guess it'll all come out in the wash.

bushy,
The peace I have in my heart is knowing Love wins in the end and I just want them to feel that same peace that surpasses understanding. I've also given it a rest with her and will let the Holy Spirit decide when to press again. Thanks for sharing your situation and Merry Christmas.

Welcome to our little oasis!

May you find friendship, fellowship, information, and insights here.

And may the truth set you free.

My cousin Tom pastored a Church of Christ near Decatur Tx., a place some folks consider to be akin to hell. ;o)

Welcome to da tent. Several of my old annihilationist friends have received CU- I was in that camp for a bit myself.
