Title: Hi....new to group.
Post by: FLSister on February 27, 2015, 06:08:32 PM
Hi - New to the group but happy to be here.  A little about myself....I grew up in the Lutheran chuch.  I became a born again Christian about 20 years ago and was baptized in a Baptist church. I'm not actively involved in any church at the moment.  I have always struggled with the concept of eternal torment.  It has never lined up with who I believe God to be.  The guilt I have felt over "questioning" God, or what I was taught to believe, has been a source of stress for a long time.  The anxiety and distress I have felt over my unsaved loved ones suffering in hell for all of eternity is sometimes more than I can bear.  How can we have the joy and peace that I believe our Father wants us to have knowing that most of our loved will suffer such a fate?  I recently found this group after searching for universal reconciliation.  I'm looking forward to reading your posts.

Hi FLSister,

Nice to meet you.  :)

I sure can relate to the distress and utter despair of believing the fate of `unsaved' loved ones/people to be endless torments in a place called hell.

When one of my own loved ones died years ago, even though I had accepted that doctrine I was taught on the surface, when faced with the actual experience,  that doctrine literally tormented *my soul. Couldn`t sleep,   couldn`t eat, couldn`t think about or focus on anything else. For a long time, I was pretty much down for the count. For it wasn`t only grieving the loss due to their death....it was a grief worse than that because my own tears and sorrow would be endless thinking they were suffering with no remedy.

One thing we all learn though when studying the scripture is that people have approached the Lord with seemingly impossible situations, and I figured mine qualified in that regard.  :)

I praise the Lord for setting me free with His truth.
He really is Wonderful and the Prince of Peace and worthy is the Lamb!

Again, welcome.

Sue

Ronny to FLSister:
Welcome FLSister. :-)

And I well know what you mean, about us thinking we are or might be questioning God,when in fact, all we're questioning is something someone has told/taught us in church. As to the grieving part,I can still remember when an uncle of mine died, when I was about 17 years old. The way I'd been taught,he was in hell. :-( And it was a good long time;but I just thank God,that God taught me better. :-) Now I can truly say, that loves wins, because God is Love! :-)

Thank you for the warm welcome.  It's comforting to know there are other people who feel the same way as I do, and it's good to be able to discuss the possibility of salvation for everyone without being judged or lectured.
