Prefer not to debate, but like to discuss.
Not a Universalist as such but have some common points of view with my dear Universalist friends.
I do not believe:
in an end to the world or an end to time.
that we need to see everything eye to eye.
that being right gains me or anyone else access into heaven.
I believe:
in the first century fulfillment of all things written and common grace for all.
that the ultimate message of the bible is love without condition, which is true love.
that people are more important than right and wrong and that Jesus Christ proved that.
that valuing right and wrong above people was the inherent problem with the old covenant world.
that everyone is with God, and will be with God. Not everyone is now aware of where they stand.
My past church involvement is some time as a preacher and missionary overseas.
Married 25 years to a pretty lady from Guadeloupe. We have 2 girls.
I love people.
My spelling can be really bad. Use spell check but still miss some things.
Tend to use lots of bible verses in my posts and may write in a somewhat convoluted fashion at times. Sorry, attention deficit kicking in!

If you stick around a bit longer and read some posts that go below teh surface of things you will see that not all here have the same opinion.
All think that everyone will be saved and other core UR things.
But not all agree on the path to that saved state.
That can be annoying at times but it keep the mind sharp and it forces to dig deeper in the Bible.
For me reading those battles of the Titans has be a good learning point :thumbsup:

First of all I can't even recall one time when the crew got upset about posting something in the wrong place.
Just look at names of the sections. If it doesn't fit in either of them just post in: http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/index.php?board=1.0
Basicly everything Biblical related is allowed. There is even an anti-UR section.
But there are a few exceptions.
Trinity and free will.
Those debates tend to quickly turn into real fights.
It's fine to mention free will and trinity. But not as the core of a debate.
Hopefully a crew member can give you more exact rules.
None of them are very strict. At least that's how I feel it.

We already have universal translation. It's called English. Of course, attempts are being made to insure that people immigrating to English speaking countries--this one, in point--no longer learn English, because if they speak a common language there's no telling what they might do.
As for the internet, attempts are already in the works to shut it down, or at least heavily control it, from attacks on freedom of speech [hate crimes bills] to bogus claims of the need for 'cybersecurity.'

Personally speaking I think that the Internet will flourish but some restains may come about. The exchange of ideas will continue to grow IMHO.
My wife is from Guadeloupe and we live in Ontario and yet she speaks with some of her family weekly.
We are very blessed I think.
Reminds me of a little saying:
Unity is not made it is realized.
A lot of these things like Air travel and Internet and so much more create opportunities to see and apply our interconnectedness.

I agree with you all about how we are "progressing" technologically.
On the "human nature" side of things, however, we're still very "primitive" I think.
In other words, Barry's mention of "putting doctrine above compassion" is, unfortunately, still alive and well. Nowadays, religion can help or harm people even by Internet!

On the first one:

My understanding of the "reward" is different from the traditional views on this. IMHO it is blessing others. The reward in question is being a blessing.
The old covenant advocates and the "evil" did not receive this reward of being a blessing to others. The fristfruits Christians were called "priests and kings" and a "holy priesthood" in the scriptures. Such is inherently outwardly focused. A priest is never a priest just to themselves. They were told to love like God loves.

On the second one Brian:
He seems to have the same concepts as Mike Williams.
He has some good points and I agree with much of what he says. He places old covenant fulfillment at the cross and I see it is as transitionary from the Cross to the end of the temple in the first century where the old covenant is visibly finished with.
God does not dwell in temples made with hands.

The lie was, "you shall not surly die".
Gen. 3:22, may give us the impression that the serpent was telling the truth about the forbidden tree making them like God.
The problem however is that this was like coming to the knowledge that jumping into a canoe will take you down a river, but not knowing that there is a water fall just around the corner.
The problem was in the knowledge or understanding, that they did not know. What they did not know is that people are more important than right and wrong. They did not maturely speaking know love.
Over time this resulted in the "law" being given. Notice how John puts it:
Jhn 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
This was the "truth" of God's love in Jesus Christ.
1Cr 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
1Cr 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
1Cr 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
To love God is to know God's love.
Love reigns love rules.
I'm not sure that Christendom as a whole has really grasped this point. But I have hope that we are heading there.
