Title: Hi Everyone
Post by: dawny on April 12, 2008, 05:52:19 AM
A friend told me about this forum so I thought I would pull up a chair and stay awhile.  I do recognize a few names from other forums.

My name is Dawn and I live in Western Washington.
Married, two grown kids and retired for now.
I'm enjoying my last year of "forty-something"
I have three granddaughters, ages 6 months to 12 yrs.
And I was introduced to UR last summer.  Praise God !!!     :boyheart:
I guess that's it for now.
I'm rather shy and more a reader than poster, but its nice to meet you and
I look forward to this new place of fellowshipping!
:icon_flower:
P.S.  and I just love these smilies too!    lol

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Hopeful, my sis lives in Enumclaw!  Where are you at now?

Shibboleth, I live in Shelton so not too far from Marysville.

Nice to know there are some "AppleJacks" in the forum.

Well, I just asked you on the "Where are You From" thread if you had been to Enumclaw.  Probably, huh?  I'm in Virginia now but hope to move back to Washington soon!

Are you sure you want to come back here?  Do you REMEMBER all the RAIN?  LOL   (http://dl5.glitter-graphics.net/pub/590/590935ankbyj1xx4.gif) (http://www.glitter-graphics.com)

We even had snow about 2 weeks ago too and its still chilly.  It's been a cold spring.
My hubby and I were thinking of moving away to a warmer (dryer) climate.  The older I get, the more the "Winter Blues" gets to me.  It is beautiful here though (as well it should be!).  Enumclaw is a beautiful little town right under the mountain, always wanted to live there but Bonney Lake was as close as we got.  My hubby was in the Navy at the Bangor Subbase so that's why we moved closer and ended up in Shelton.

Have a great week!   :icon_flower:

Enumclaw is a beautiful little town right under the mountain, always wanted to live there but Bonney Lake was as close as we got.

I do remember the rain but if it wasn't for the rain then Washington would be California!   :Sparkletooth:  The main things that are drawing me back home would include the cooler summer temps, the culture and the fact that my grown kids and grandkids are out in Idaho and Eastern Washington.  I simply cannot function in the heat that the rest of the country has to offer and Washington is so much a part of who I am.

It's so nice to hear you say "Enumclaw is a beautiful little town" For me, there is nothing quite as incredible as a sunny summer day in Enumclaw!  All the flowers... and the "bluest skies you've ever seen" and then "the Mountain"  Those days make everyone forget about the rainy days.    :boogie:

Hope this link works...

Everything you say is true and I know this!  LOL
Besides, my kids and g-kids are here and I have a feeling I'd be miserable if we moved far away.
I do wish it wasn't so expensive to live here though.  It's not so bad now but once retirement arrives, it will be a struggle.  Not everyone works at Boeing and Microsoft and has HUGE 401-K's (especially in the recent economic ongoing crash and burn...)   :sigh:

So as much as we "talk" about moving somewhere warmer and cheaper, we'll probably end up staying right here.

I've been around much of the country and altho they all have their own "beauty", I truly do believe no other place is more beautiful than Western Washington.  Even Alaska, with its beauty, doesn't compare. Alaska's beauty is hmmm, beauty tested?  LOL   There is a wild-ness about Alaska.  It's as if it says, I have earned my beauty through the constant storms of life.  There is a rough side to the beauty.

And in Washington, if we get an inch of snow and the temperature drops to 25, life stops and we all pout.   :laughing7:

I'm looking forward to digging into some of the threads on this forum - there are so many, I don't quite know where to start!

Hope you're having a terrific day!!!

I know...  it's so expensive...  One of the reasons we left Washington was because of the high cost of living, but we really felt like the Lord was leading us out, too.  It's a long story.

Enjoy digging around the forum!
