Hi all!
I'm a doctor living in the UK. I just typed out a long intro and deleted it by accident, so this will be brief!
Basically, I've been lifelong Christian, albeit hopefully I thoughtful one willing to change his mind if necessary. I've held/hold various positions of leadership with the Church of England. I found the idea of U.R. through the fascinating comments made by one of the members of our weekly study group, and after a much longer and more in depth chat with him found myself unable to disagree.
My approach to Scripture is I hope fairly nuanced/not wooden and literalistic, although I tend to avoid New Ager/Gnostic stuff because in my opinion, God wants us to seek Him in his word but also be active in our world, not get lost in endless navel gazing or searching for hidden spiritual truths within ourselves etc! That said, the more I study, the more it seems Jesus' teachings are very much to do with the house of Israel/Judah, and I think we can quickly go wrong if we try to understand everything by crudely applying it to ourselves.
So, I'm here, and I'm looking forward to learning from you all!

It's so important to recognize the differences between the gospel of the Circumcision and the gospel of the Uncircumcision.
There is only one gospel. It is the gospel of the light of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ(2 Cor 4:1-5). That gospel may give leeway for differences in application to the circumscision, which is made uncircumcision by unbelief, or to uncircumcision, which is made circumcision by faith in Christ- but there is only one gospel, Jesus, Peter, Paul, John all proclaimed the same gospel, gathering together into one all things in Christ, the one new man.

My experience was similar to yours: someone visited a Sunday school class I was in and shared universalism. Even with all my theological training I found myself agreeing and saying "you know what, I choose to believe those verses! I like them WAY better!" That was 10+ years ago and it has been an interesting journey to say the least. For me, being open to the idea that 1600 years of church tradition was mistaken on such a crucial matter as the eternal fate of mankind kind of opened up Pandora's box. If we got that wrong, what else did we get wrong?
