Hey guys and gals my name is Adam. I found this site because of my ocd. I hope to learn a lot here and grow in spirit also. A little bit about myself....I'm a loner not by choice. I quit high school at the end of freshman year because of huge amounts of anxiety and I was skipping school like crazy so at the end of freshman year I quit. I spent years alone...15-23 I was isolating. Got into some bad stuff and ended up in a mental hospital. Spent 2 weeks there and got put on medication for bipolar 1 with psychotic features. Social phobia. Avoidant personality disorder. I also have ocd which makes me think I'm going to hell and it drives me crazy. But anyways when I was 22 I was saved again . First time I was saved I was 12 at home with a friend she taught me how to be saved and let Jesus in and I truly felt his presence when I first got saved. It felt like my heart was full of joy so much so that it tickled. Well main reason I found this site was because I worry I am going to hell even though it's ocd I still have the thought. I ask Jesus in my life and heart today once again and I repented once again
If you read all that I thank you. Amen
Welcome, Adam.
In this world, we all have labels. But, God sees our heart, and knows who we are, because He made us. There is nothing or no where we can hide from Him.
And, the best of it all is that He loves us, just as we are. And, meets us where we are. And, in His will, we become the best we can be.
Don't worry what the world labels you......you belong to Christ, and in Him, we are made new....
16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,... 2 Corinthians 5: 16 - 18
So glad you joined us!
:welcome: :drummer: :gguitar:
That was very Kind Thank you. Praise Jesus God bless you more n thanks for the welcome
.
I really genuinely get scared so bad sometimes I'm going to suffer for eternity and I know half of me says I will not suffer and the other say I will. It consumes me when this happens and ill pray and repent that's the only way it slows down the terror...if that makes sense..
Matthew 14:22-33New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Walks on the Water
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
29 "Come," he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."
Believe that Jesus' hand is there for you, too, Adam!
:dsunny:
So basically your saying if I fear ill doubt and loose Jesus if I don't fear then I....? Everyone has fear though so this kind of offended because if the story of jesus walking on water and then Peter walking and getting scared Im peter and I get petrified what happens if I sink completely. Will I drown and loose Jesus forever and be alone and isolated for e ever?
I think she's saying something more like this; trust that He's there for you. When we start to stink He'll reach out and rescue us. Step out on faith when we can, know His hand is there when we can't. Either way, He's there for you. God told Paul that His grace was sufficient for him, and that when we are weak, He shows His strength in helping us.
If He enables us to overcome something, great. If we want to but can't, God's mercy and grace sustain us.
Thank you, jabcat!
You won't lose, Jesus! He is always waiting for you to invite Him into your life.
He reaches out His hand, and waits for us, to take it or grab hold of it.
He loves you, with an everlasting love.
The point of the story is, when Peter became afraid, Jesus extended His hand. And, when he focused on Jesus, Peter could walk on the water. Jesus was always there for him, though.
Don't focus on the waves and the storm.......Keep your eyes on Jesus! He is your rock; your refuge; your strength.

Hi Adam,
Welcome,
Old peter was in a position when the only option was call on the one who is able to save, just like you................that hand is always there and you feel His presence, so you have done well.
Allowing your thoughts to change is a process that will take some time, but with time you will master it. It is a daily spiritual practice, and again, you are doing that, so you have done well.
With daily practice, you will learn that the future is not be feared, it is the moment that matters, and in the moment we have fellowship with the Spirit in Jesus Christ.
I don't post much on the weekends, but stick around, and be blessed, brother.
Welcome!
My dear brother Adam,
You can lose many things with regard to Yeshua, confidence, faith, sensation, feeling, etc. He however, can no more lose you than he can himself. For in Yeshua, God is forever bonded to humanity. You no more had a choice in this than you did to be born in Adam, the first human. The choice you will daily face however, is to believe what he has done, and is doing, and will do, in and through you. Nothing in your choice and its results is an accident. Your ocd, which is considered a disorder, is what you yourself said brought you to a site where you can learn more about what is deep inside your heart to know and experience. Your disorder is no accident, and the things happening in you are not without the notice and intimate working of your Father, who uses your own unique circumstances to result in his esteem. Everything he does, even those things which seem to be against you, is nothing of the sort. He is totally invested in that which is for you, and his Son is the proof of it.

Hi Adam ,
Glad you are here and there is some great folks here for you... :dsunny: and love them all very much so.
Jesus can be a close as you hearts door ..
I can relate to your struggles , so do not ever feel you are alone ..
Our battles in our minds can be the most tormenting , Jesus already has the victory over all things and as the others have already said very well , and has overcome the world ..
And He is our greatest calm and comfort , Do not ever be afraid to talk to Him ..
He loves you and loves us all , much more than we can fathom or make sense of in those moments of '' what is happening to us ''and
'' why '' Lord , ''Why ? ''I do not understand ''... Please Help me to understand ''. This is many times my own question and the Lord does let us know , its not always the way you expect or a soon as you want , but that peace that God is with you and helping you , you just know , and it does build up your faith to trust Him more and more He never fails , His love never ever fails us ever :HeartThrob:
Welcome to the Tent
Hi Adam,
I can imagine the thought of spending eternity apart from God is so frightening. In fact, it's most logical to be terrified when you believe so, and very illogical to be not... imo
I have been going through those fears, yet just for a couple of weeks, and I found that the most horrible weeks in my life. I could hardly eat. Yet that fear was instantly gone when I read a few verses from Isaiah 25 and Gods peace came over me:
And on this mount shall the Lord of hosts make for all peoples a feast of rich things, a feast of wines on the lees - of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And He will destroy on this mountain a covering of the face that is cast over the heads of all peoples and the veil that is woven and spread over all nations. He will swallow up death. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; and the reproach of His people He will take away from off all the earth; for the Lord has spoken it!
I found it very helpfull to read Absolute Assurance in Jesus Christ by Charles Slagle on the Tentmaker.
Concerning your ocd. The last years I have studied regularly on how God made food healthy, and how man has destorted food to his own harm. I'm convinced this has a lot to do with both a lot of physical ailments as well as psychiatric ones. By example some people's bodies make a kind of morphin out of gluten or certain types of milk, while others don't...anyway, it might be helpful to google 'ocd and food allergies' and see where God may lead you.
