Title: Greetings All
Post by: Sally Anne on December 01, 2010, 01:14:22 AM
Hi, my name is Craig and I am from Toronto, Canada.  I attend the Salvation Army and have always thought that God torturing people in hell forever was a rather insane idea but have kept my mouth shut so as not to rock the boat.  Finding this site and reading a lot of the articles and readings has made me feel at home.  I realize that there are other people who actually think like me and the documentation is refreshing to say the least.

I want to explore as much as possible to find answers dealing with scriptures which seem to support eternal damnation so that I can have a full 100% understanding (supported by scriptures) of the errors of translation, etc.

In Canada people call the Salvation Army "the Sally Anne"....as I attend the Salvation Army, I thought it was appropriate.

Not rocking the boat regarding this is wise and I believe meets with our Lord's approval. I've been a closet universalist in a fundamental church for quite a while now. You'll eventually become familiar with the tenants of universalism. It's really not all that complicated. If I were lead to share what I know to someone in our fellowship, I'd do so the same way I'd share any particular theological view. So, I think as long as you're not trying to push it on others and just deal with it academically, you can talk about it without others wanting to tar and feather you.
But you'll see the same opposition to this as you would if you were discussing the beliefs of a cult or whatever.
But hey, you just might put a seed in the ear of someone who's receptive to it but doesn't know it exists.
Most Christians are going to stick to their guns, even though I'm sure deep down they find it to be a repugnant concept.
The number one fact that satisfies me is, that for the first 400 years of Christianity, at least 75% of Christians believed in universal salvation and the majority of the other 25% opting for annihilation. Then came Catholicism and it all went straight to hell from there.

You learn something new every day. I thought maybe you had an Alice Cooper thing going. :laughing7:

It's interesting to listen to Cooper talking about him being a Christian on You Tube.
