Don't know what it was . . .it's from Pirates of the Carribean . . .that's where "Ello Poppit" comes from . . .and they always wined about the rum getting burned up . . ."why is the rum gone???"

Guess ya had to be there.

See . . .now "that" makes a lot of sense . . .when the pirates cornered the governor's daugter in the closet and as she's peeking through the crack . .the greasy guy know's she's in there and that's all he says "ello Poppit".  And then get's ready to shoot her . . . and even in his vulgar, disgusting . .and you know he stinks just by looking at him . . .but . . .even "he" honors the code . . .PARLAY!!

I've seen the movie a time or two . . .and it's my all time favorite . . .all three of them are so good.  And even in the third one, you're enjoying it but you're kinda sad because you know it's the third one . .then at the very end, they purposefully end it by leaving it open . . .to give you the implication that there may yet be another . . .I would love to see them combine Jack Sparrow with the fountain of youth . . .I loved how they brought you into Davey's Locker . . .and Jack killed Davey!

I wonder if there is HDTV in heaven?

Only reality TV.
Before this creation there was another one. All those people are now watching the "A freakshow called earth."
When this batch is reconciled we can watch another creation messing up  :laughing7:

QuoteSee . . .now "that" makes a lot of sense
You mean the rest of the movie does make sense  :laughing7:

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is scheduled for 2012. Much to long to wait  :msealed:

Jeeze, it sounds like the writer there wasn't crazy about the other ones . . .I always thought that the pirate series was one of the few where the entertainment value stayed relatively high in all the sequels . . .the first was still the best . .but the 2nd and 3rd were extremely entertaining as well . . .but who knows . . .it might be just personal taste . . .I loved the Goonies when they first came out to.

poppet

1 a-Midland : doll b-obsolete : marionette
2chiefly British : dear
3 a: an upright support or guide of a machine that is fastened at the bottom only b: a valve that rises perpendicularly to or from its seat

I had the impression from my vast reading (cough) experience that poppets usually refer to children.  Which would be compatible with the first two of the above definitions.  Nothing came up when I entered poppit in.  I always thought it was a term for someone young.

Oh, I saw White Wing's link, friends is the thrid listing in their definition but the first two are like the entry I posted, doll/marionnete or an endearing term for a child.  And poppit is more properly spelled poppet according to that (not that it is a big deal, lol)

Perhaps that's what the OP meant -- friends.  That is nice.  I would think in the Pirates of the Carribean it was more as the term for a child when he spoke to the character.

So I have a thing about words, slap me, lol.
