Question  - has anyone had experience "coming out" as an UR person to ET friends  - family - church? What was the reaction?

lomarah

Yes. Much like your name. "Stone em!!!"  :laughing7:

Welcome back!

My wife is ET and goes to church weekly. At first, she thought I would be tortured in a hell for NOT believing in hell!
She didn't find out I was UR untile about 3 years we were married. I think mainly because we prayed and discussed spiritual topics together and I went to church with her. She is beginning to see how judgmental she is concerning whether this or that person is going to burn forever.

When she asked why it wasn't the first thing I told her spiritually about my beliefs, I simply told her there wasn't a big difference. She said what do you mean? I told her that she believes non-believers will be tormented (she refuses to use the word tortured) for all eternity in a place called hell. I believe that non-believers will be cleansed of their sins by our consuming fire God (Our God is a consuming fire) and Jesus died for all - not some.
It really boils down to free will. She believes that People send themselves to be tortured by refusing to trust in Jesus. I believe that God wills all men to be saved and man cannot thwart God's will.

Also it's the matter of time. She believes the torment is forever and eternity with no respite. I believe there will be a period of punishment and cleansing which will last for an undetermined time but certainly not forever.  :Peace2:

Hi Stoneham

Answer is "yes" and "not good." I went to one of those emotional Charismatic churches and because of all the feel good stuff that goes along with that, I thought they might be open to it. Oh, no. There were meetings, and more meetings and they told me I could come back to church if I publicly renounced my beliefs (I had compiled a paper on it and shared it with some friends inside). I told him I could never do it and that was that. In all the meetings I had with somebody they chose who had gone to Bible school, he couldn't answer the points, the basic points.

God blessed me by having tilled the ground for some of my friends who received it and believed it. One of them was my now wife. About 5 in total, we all left. My friend suffered the loss of his children's church ministry, which caused him tears, but he said he was much more happy to have believed in the truth. It really does the heart alot of good.

I also forwarded my beliefs to my dad, and told him I no longer thought the KJV was infallible, something he agreed with as well. But he was adamantly opposed to my lack of belief in hell, told me I was wrong, but couldn't answer the questions. He told me not to send him any more article links whatsoever.

I haven't but we still remain in a relationship, and there have been some clues that maybe he is more open than he used to be about it. But I don't bring it up because I already have, and I think the seed has been planted enough not to force it.

I felt rejected by many former church friends for belief in the fact that God means what He says. He will save ALL.

1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved

They just can't accept the fact that modern versions of the bible are inaccurate by translating words like eon=eternity and hades=hell (fire) and so on. After all were not most of these theologians who translated the bible smarter than we common folk. :footmouth:
But I will continue to rely mainly on the Concordant Literal version. Rotherham's Emphatic and Young's Literal Translation.
I feel they are truer to the Original text.
Yeh, despised and rejected, just like our Lord.
3 John 4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Now I know this might not sit well with some here, but I have always "known" the stuff that most churches peddle was false. Which is why I am looked down upon by so many in my own family.

The Spirit speaks louder and clearer than any written word.

This is the God of the Bible in which the ET'ers believe.

1. Created two perfect humans with a serious flaw
2. The two perfect humans behaved as designed (they sinned)
3. God then banished them and promised everyone else would be born into sin.
4. God then gave humans a vain heart and blinded most.
5. These he HATES!!!!!!!
6. He HATES these so much that he will torture them forever!!!!!
7. God is LOVE, but HE only Loves those that Love Him.
8. God is justified for hating those who hate him (even though he caused them too)

All of this can be proved Scripturally,  but is so by only looking at the Words through human eyes and not a Spiritual heart that is the barer of Fathers Light.

Love is what Love does. Father is outside of time. He is even before the Alpha and the Omega. The Movie has already been produced and directed. It is now just playing. There is nothing that will happen that has not already.

In Father we Trust and Love  :HeartThrob:

Love Julie

You hit the nail on the head!

Hey Stoneham, my wife grieved over my change to UR and my decision to leave the church just as if I had left her for another woman.  She seem OK now, but sometimes I can still see a little hurt in her eyes.  Some of my friends turned against me, particularly FaceBook friends.  My former church still loves me, but they did not want me talking about UR, especially since I was a deacon, which was part of the reason I left.

Do not expect anyone to understand. Who can know unless God reveals? It is such a mystery, but it relieves us from condemnation of ourselves and others. On another note, Roger has signified an illuminating text from Dusean Berkich. I am not always happy about the present, but I can rest in the One who orchestrates it all. Praise to the God who is!

So true, especially in our modern world with all its winds of doctrines!

I'VE GOT TO TELL YOU THAT MY EXPERIENCE WITH DECLARING TO MY LOVED ONES ABOUT UNIVERSAL SALVATION BROUGHT NO RESPONSE EXCEPT FROM MY BROTHER-IN-LAW WHO IS A DOCTOR OF DIVINITY FROM EMERY THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY WHEN HE WROTE AN EMAIL TO ME AND SAID: "CLARK, YOU BELIEVE THAT GOD IS SAVING 'EVERYONE'?"
I SAID I COULDN'T IMAGINE HIM NOT DOING SO BEING THAT HIS VERY ESSENCE IS LOVE THROUGH WHICH ALL OF HIS ATTRIBUTES FLOW.
WE HAVEN'T EMAILED MUCH SINCE THEN.
NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT HE IS WELL INDOCTRINATED TO THE TRADITIONS OF MEN HAVING WRTIITEN HIS DOCTORAL THESIS ON KARL BARTH, WAS REARED METHODIST AND IS CURRENTLY PASTOR OF A DISCIPLES OF CHRIST CHURCH IN EAST TEXAS.
I'VE SINCE WRITTEN FOUR DIFFERENT TRACKS ON THE BLESSED HOPE AND HAND THEM OUT DAILY .
THE ONLY RUN-IN I'VE HAD THUS FAR HAS BEEN WITH A PENTACOSTOL FELLOW AT THE GROCERY STORE THE OTHER DAY WHO SAID I WAS ALL WRONG ABOUT GOD SAVING EVERYONE AND THAT ONE MUST BE BAPTIZED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT BEFORE THEY COULD BE SAVED.
I SAID THAT I DIDN'T AGREE AND TOOK MY TRACT BACK THINKING DON'T CAST YOUR PEARLS TO SWINE.
MAYBE I WAS WRONG THERE BUT IT FELT RIGHT AT THE TIME.
JESUS WASN'T ALWAYS VERY GENTLE WITH THE PHARISEES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NICODEMUS AS I RECALL.

When people make unscriptural statements like that, require them to provide you with a scripture reference.  They won't be able to.
Stumps them every time!

I really thank God for the Theif on the cross.

Wasn't baptized
didn't go to church
didn't speak in tongues,
Only one 'good work" was to rebuke the other theif.
Never walked down the isle
never made a public profession of his faith
never read his bible
didn't get up at 5 am to pray
didn't pray much
No evidence of the holy spirit in him. :Chinscratch:
Didn't understand doctrines.

Boil it down. The man knew and admitted he was a sinner and asked Jesus/God to remember him,
That's all it took for the theif to be with Jesus in paradise.

jbertonbounds

Awseome, Ded2!  I never gave that much thought.  There is a good argument against those who believe one must be baptized to be saved.  Also against those who believe you must profess publicly to be saved.  Or that you must go to church.  Or that you must work your way to heaven.

Thanks for that thought!

Maybe that was the thief's purpose in the kingdom.  To show us this.  There may be a whole lot more to this thief than we realize!

T-Bone

THANKS, JBERTON.

I'LL TRY TO REMEMBER THAT.

jbertonbounds

The thief on the cross may be another great thread to start, if somebody can think of a good angle.

T-Bone

I'LL GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT, JBERTON.
