Hi Everybody,

i am new to all this but i had a friend who quoted this scripture and it stumped me.

33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Deos anyone have any thoughts on how they would respond to that?

PS... Really glad to have found this site...looking forward to reading and posting

Welcome Jake
I hope you find what you are looking for.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

This is actually quite similar to the statement that if you don't forgive others' debts, then yours won't be forgiven.  There's no evidence whatsoever that it's speaking of a permanent status that someone can never escape thereafter.

Yep I agree with Gab. Every tongue will eventually confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

  Hi Jake
tend to agree with Gab on this ..
but when reading   Matt 10 its about discipleship and
being a student  of Gods Word / Jesus Christ   taking what you have a sharing   this with others  the learning and gathering
same as

the parable of the  servant hiding  his talent in the ground /earth  and  not shaing  this gospel  with others in the same need you have  had
you  give freely and you will  recieve more of  HIM
you deny Him , you  dont  get any more  ,  even what you had  will be removed   / stagnate  from
the increase of God

Jesus is the reward  !!

My  :2c:

Well Jake... let me begin where JESUS said:

Heb 13:5 -- ...I will NEVER LEAVE YOU, nor FORSAKE you -- this denotes that AT NO TIME" [never] shall he LEAVE us --- which means that He is WITH us at ALL TIMES!  This statement, is followed closely  by this one:

Heb 13:8 -- JESUS CHRIST, the SAME -- YESTERDAY, TODAY and FOREVER -- He cannot BE with you and then NOT BE with you and remain UNCHANGING... IOW in BEING an  UNCHANGING entity, ...He cannot be "with you" one day, and DISOWN (or NOT "BE" with) you the next...  :dontknow: He IS what He IS at ALL TIMES...

What is actually being conveyed is that until REVELATION of CHRIST is availed in ones heart, he/she remains "disowned"...

So...  CHRIST's statement of "disowning" simply means that whoever is not IN CHRIST, is yet to BE -- IN CHRIST... One that is IN CHRIST, is thereby "believing" and thereby "confessed"...

Scripture notes -- As IN ADAM -- ALL DIE, so IN CHRIST shall ALL [the SAME "ALL"] be MADE ALIVE [from DEATH] -- 1 Cor 15:22 -- until one BELIEVES and CONFESSES, ...spiritually speaking, one remains DEAD.

"BELIEF and CONFESSION" is done by the REVELATION of JESUS CHRIST in one's heart, which is done by YHVH GOD.

This process occurs in "DUE TIME" [one at a time] -- 1 Tim 2:6 -- if one's "due time" has not yet arrived... then he [in that "time prior"] is not IN CHRIST and thereby [because he does NOT confess CHRIST before men] "disowned" until he IS -- IN CHRIST... which is YET to happen in that one's existence.

NO man CAN come to CHRIST, ...EXCEPT... he be drawn to Him, by the Father -- John 6:44 -- and,

NO man CAN say that CHRIST is LORD [confess Him before men], EXCEPT by the HOLY GHOST -- 1 Cor 12:3   -- so until these things occur in one's experience, at the WILL of GOD, ...then that one remains "disowned" until they DO OCCUR!

Hope that helps you...
