Title: Greetings from Seattle
Post by: Scrybe on August 28, 2007, 02:19:52 AM
Hello again.  I wrote an elaborate testimony post in the last generation, and don't have time to redo it now.  So I'll just sum up.

Name: Josh Foreman
Age: 32
Marital Status: Married
Kids: 2, ages 8 and 11, both boys
Occupation: Computer game developer
Special skills: Falling down stairs without getting hurt
Hobbies: Sculpting, philosophy, religion, wold design
History: Born in Seattle, moved to Japan, to Portland OR, to San Antonio TX, to North Pole AK, to Seattle WA, to Claremore OK, to Ann Arbor MI, back to Seattle.  Along the way grew up in the Assemblies of God, got married at 18, got divorced at 29, got married again almost 2 years ago.  Became convinced of Universalism about a year ago.  Currently attend a Foursquare church.

Here is a visual synopses of my journey through divorce and remarriage.

This first image shows me as torn and confused, trapped in a cage of legalism.  I've torn out my eyes so that I won't look at women 'that way'.  I know my marriage is dead since my wife has left for drugs and abandoned me and the boys.  But I don't know what to do with my romantic heart.  Do I bury it or put it back in my chest?  Behind me show seven stars of providence that symbolize God's sovereignty over my situation.

This image shows that I've moved off of the grave.  I've been surprised by a kind of love I've never known before, and strangely, I have total peace about this woman.  I don't feel guilt, but still, I am very, very wary of my flesh deceiving me.  So I have prayed with this woman and we agreed that I would not give my heart to her, but to Christ.  He would decide where my romantic heart should belong.

And finally after intense prayer, counseling, and looking for signs, we are brought together as a new, healed family.  We had a courtship free from lust and my emotionally destroyed boys fell in love with this woman that God sent to restore a family that had been shipwrecked.

This process taught me more about God than I had learned my entire life.
